  1. My point was that your timing is not doable by car…….especially Cambodian taxi. I doubt that you took your own car. Did you get insurance for your motorcycle trip.
  2. I sincerely hope that you get the help you need. As you are a U.K. pensioner it may be worth speaking with Age U.K. https://www.ageuk.org.uk/globalassets/age-uk/documents/factsheets/fs25_returning_from_abroad_fcs.pdf
  3. Don't forget to cover up your headlights (if your lights are automatic). Police will fine you if you ride with headlights on during the day.
  4. Informally referred to as a car passport. I tried to get one for Laos, gave up in the end as Buriram Immigration and Buriram Land Transport Office kept bouncing me around. I remain unconvinced that valid insurance is available - I would always take the taxi option.
  5. The OP is not traveling by motorbike... Did you manage to get insurance when you went?
  6. Not quite sure what you are driving but Google Maps suggests 2 hours 40 minutes by car. I doubt that it can be done in under 2 hours and, as I recall, certainly not in a private car across the border. Not sure if that is possible but you would not get insurance for the trip. Many reliable taxis available - PM me if you are unable to find one yourself, I have contact details for a guy who I have used 20+ times.
  7. I agree with all the above. However, I find it slightly incongruous that UKVI issue standard visitor visas for a 6 month period (and state a maximum stay period of 180 days) then harangue Thai ladies traveling alone for making ‘regular and successive visits’. I have a friend who has chosen to educate his Thai son in the U.K. but is not in a financial position to settle his Thai wife. She stays for approximately 5 months each year so she can spend time with her husband and son. He visits Thailand for approximately 2 months each year. That way ‘the family’ are able to spend 7/8 months together. I don’t see anything wrong with that. Another friend spends 6 months in Thailand and May to October in the UK; his wife stays with him all the time……I really don’t see why 180/185 days UK/Thailand should be an issue.
  8. Ha Ha! ………… You are not alone! ????
  9. Fact. Nothing is checked in terms of verification of the signature. I have signed over 50 life certs in the last 10 years. Initially I added a stamp and phone number - never any follow up contact. Now, virtually anyone can certify the life certificates. I imagine that somewhere in Wolverhampton a junior clerk ticks a box on your record to evidence return. Only by default, ie non-return, does the system flag up the fact - and payments are suspended.
  10. Read the OP again By the 16th he still hadn't received his pension
  11. Why waste your time going to a bank? Just get a reputable friend to sign.
  12. ……and there are probably morons on here still predicting GBP parity with USD and EUR!
  13. This is exactly what I did with Jomtien in last month. I complied with the terms of 800k in the bank approval in June 22 (including 800k after 3 months) AND provided bank letter/statements from Kasikorn - plus their standard letter confirming 12 x 65k.
  14. This is not a delay - the payment has been stopped. @archadian (above) has probably called it correctly.
  15. Sorry, correction… a 32 page passport is £127.51 and 48 page £138.51
  16. I would move. If I thought the GF was complicit, in any way, I wouldn’t tell her I had moved.
  17. If using an agent I would like to think that they would be able to advise whether your card is OK. Many people will deal with the agent by post and may be reluctant to disclose their card details…especially the 3 digit code.
  18. In Pattaya it should certainly be no more than that. Watch out for hidden extras like excessive fees for using their credit card for payment. UKPO fees are - The 32-page passport is £118.51, 48-page passport is £128.51.
  19. Ah. You are obviously not in Thailand - or are an insomniac.
  20. I printed mine off last month - perfectly acceptable.
  21. Many people would willingly give money to an agent, just to avoid going anywhere near Bangkok.
