  1. I went a bit wobbly and needed some assistance after eating 2 and half muffins (in the now closed soi 21 restaurant). I had had a couple to drink and my lady companion bought them to have after our pad krappows. I naively thought they were banana cakes. I now use them only as an aid to a good night's sleep.
  2. Thanks. I did actually find some on my doorstep (not literally, please). Well, like my enquiry about Pattaya, I didn't actually find it; in response to an almost identical question as I posted here somebody on a local forum said "I buy from the shop just opposite the market, next door to XYZ; nice people, fair prices". See how simple that was........................ 400 people on that forum didn't respond because I imagine they were not able to answer my question.............
  3. Comprehension not your strong point is it? I asked....."Does anyone have a recommendation for a similar edibles shop". I also said I was 32km away
  4. You are not a brand name person, why waste your time looking at SMEG which is a high end Italian brand. Get back on Lazada and look for Thailand produced kettle. If you really want to focus on saving money go boil a saucepan of water.
  5. Why would you think that. It wasn't a difficult question...........well clearly it WAS too difficult for some ... "Does anyone have a recommendation for a similar edibles shop". I remember when this forum was a good source of information.
  6. No. Not from where I am sitting 32 km away.. Now, do you have any suggestions - or are you just bored and need to get a life?
  7. Yes......but respect, and embrace, the past - it is what got you to this point. Memories are important - but building new memories is importanter!! 🙂
  8. ...it was an observation rather than a criticism. I do feel sorry for people who, for whatever reasons, are not able to make the most of (and appreciate) what they have now. It is a cliche but I follow the mantra of 'if you don't like what you have, change it - or change your attitude to it'
  9. I don't like nostalgia - or at least nostalgists who still think the 'good old days' were better. I havre old school friends on FB who still talk about the 'best days of my life' being at school. No they were not. Some days were great, some were not - absolutely the same in every phase of your life. If you the think that life was better in the past then you are not living life properly in the current.
  10. I was advised by IPC something along the lines of..."You keep the increase for the duration of your stay in the UK whether that is 6 weeks or 6 years; it then reverts on your return to the original frozen amount". Admittedly, I didn't ask about leaving to a different 'frozen' country - but I would put money on that being the same.
  11. I can't speak for the DWP but I can say that if you go to a 'frozen' country yourpension should revert to the original frozen amount you were getting
  12. Please do not apologise, I am just grateful that you took the time to reply. There was me thinking you HAD tried the product.
  13. Thanks. Apologies for seeming "dim" (and I am familiar with Pattaya)..... I wasn't aware of a market after Treetown in a northerly direction (Sawasdee Inn, soi Honey, LK Metro, soi Diana etc). In a northerly direction there is a little market after 7-11 just before the S bend at "R-Con corner" - now Witherspoons)..... where am I going wrong.
  14. That would require a recipe 😉....................and knowledge of what ingredients are required for best results. Call me lazy, but off the shelf is the best short term solution for me.
  15. Blimey. That is a bit cerebral for this time on a Friday evening.
  16. Thanks Sandy. I only asked because such a WISE transfer would require bank details for UKVI (or VfS) and I don't recall seeing that option on the payments page. I don't hold Thai Baht balances with WISE, but I very easily could do.
  17. As you say, it "shouldn't" be a problem. The account passes to the survivor by succession and bypasses Probate. BUT, this is Thailand and I have seen obstacles put in front of a surviving spouse. It is worth checking with the bank (although you cannot guarantee what will happen several years later). I much prefer the idea of the surviving account holder cleaning out the account before advising the bank. These words from UK Citizens Advice:- Couples may also have joint bank or building society accounts. If one dies, all the money will go to the surviving partner without the need for probate or letters of administration. The bank may need the see the death certificate in order to transfer the money to the other joint owner. This from HSBC:- Any Current Accounts or Savings accounts held in the sole name of the deceased will be frozen. This includes the use of any cards linked to the account(s) and being able to transact via telephone or online banking. No restrictions will be placed on joint accounts as joint accounts will transfer automatically to the surviving account holders.
  18. Just to complete your post ......."albeit illegally". Just because the bank have not been made aware of the death, it does not mean it hasn't happened. All mandates cease on death.
  19. It has been said before but, if you show 800k FIXED in a bank account an IO has every right to say "what are you living on, are you working?". Apart from the funds on deposit they want to see account activity.
  20. There was a cracking little Thai restaurant in soi21, off soi Buakhao in Pattaya, that sold packs muffins and cookies at 100 Baht each. Sadly, the owner has closed up and returned Chiang Mai. Does anyone have a recommendation for a similar edibles shop.
  21. Interesting. How did you make that payment Sandy? Last month I paid 5,313 Baht via Nationwide credit card (the only currency they offer - apologies I was wrong about USD being quoted - confusing that uk.gov quote Dollars:-) Standard Visitor visa - for UK, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey Visa types Visa application fee (USD) Visa application guide Short-term (up to 6 months, single or multiple entry) 152 Visa application guide Longer-term (valid for up to 2 years) 528 Visa application guide Longer-term (valid for up to 5 years) 1018 Visa application guide Longer-term (valid for up to 10 years) 1272 Visa application guide
  22. Yep, I wouldn't buy at that price either - just pointing out that it is available in Thailand.
  23. So "no". I say your lack of broader experience makes your opinion worth Jack. (You do understand that any decent producer can arrange delivery all over Thailand?)
