  1. You are very welcome. I have not had any contact for a number of years but Hywel and Peter, were always very helpful.
  2. I have less than half your time in Thailand but in my experience it is a lottery. First, Thais rarely sell, and usually only when they are desperate. A "Farang quality" house is of little interest to Thais; you know how they live. Therefore, especially if you think that you might be marketing to the western community, a chat with a Farang agent may be useful.
  3. To a degree that is what is fundamentally the main issue with political discussions. You are right, of course, my centre ground could be left (or right) of yours.
  4. Why not speak to a local agent? Are William Property still around?
  5. Well done, you have just labelled over half the USA electorate. Given that there are 160m+ registered voters, that is a lot of stereotyping.
  6. I think everyone could find it subjective. That is what views are all about - one man's "far lefty" is another man's Centrism.
  7. I had a feeling you would do that.......................🙂 Grease
  8. You think that the UK is "far lefty"? At the moment it doesn't know it's ar5e from it's elbow - and it can't decide how many genders there should be - it certainly isn't far left. The Labour party kicked out it's best 'lefty'.
  9. I wouldn't be too quick to claim the moral high ground. Whilst I agree entirely about using local shops (use or lose it theory) you are totally wrong in your summation; in my experience those who crow on about Mom and Pop shops are usually those who live in the Boonies and have a limited choice. To suggest that Lotus's, Big C and TOPS offer substandard products at higher prices is just false. Do you really think Chang beer is cheaper at a Mom and Pop store than MAKRO? Where do you think these village shops buy most of their stock from? For me, a Mom and Pop store is part of Thai culture and the main benefit is that of convenience = plus the fact that you can buy booze when the "huge corporate behemoths" have to adhere to the law. So........a big plus from me for local shops but, please, let's not pretend they are 'better' than the big boys.
  10. I guess that is a problem for the 'straight' politicians.
  11. I thump's longevity could exceed that of Keir Starmer..............
  12. Australian visas are not as easy as they should be for Thais. There is a real fear of the risk of flight with Thai women - I guess there must be a history of that. I helped an Aussie friend to get a visa for his GF. We were successful but not until we excessively padded out the second application, after an initial rejection.
  13. Dark chocolate 99/100% cacao content is a winner........... perhaps second to the Cognac.
  14. Surely, you wasting your time replying wins that award! 🙂
  15. To be fair, there is an alcohol issue regarding school kids/schools - but not related to this law. That one prevents alcohol sales within 300 metres of universities and vocational colleges, On this subject why can't gas stations sell alcohol? If the authorities believe that will prevent some drivers drinking then they are as out of touch as we think they are. Sledgehammer approach that prevents passengers buying booze and does not achieve the prevention of drink driving.
  16. The scars run deep, don't they? Still, only another 4 years to go.......................
  17. Surely no more embarrassing than the previous administration.
