The reason "Thai do pay taxes and tourists don't" is utterly BS, unless the Colosseum was built by Pattaya City Hall using tax-money.
I suppose the Colosseum is privately owned and therefore the dual-pricing is a scam.
I wonder if the Colosseum pays the 7% VAT to the revenue department as it should be

I started 3 months ago with reducing the 3-in-1 coffee by 50%.
Skipped lunch on 4 days and drink water instead.
Fridays and weekend-days I am not bothered.
Lost 7 kilo so far.
I don't take sweets, chocolates, cookies, snacks or alcohol.
Problem is that the weight-loss can be seen first in my face...........5 more kilos and I look like having a nasty sickness.

If it was in the daytime that the OP spotted the moslinm-family with sunglasses on I can imagine..........they don't wanna be recognized....it's ramadan and they had nothing to look for a KFC's.
As for all the others...........the best place to keep (sun)glasses is on your nose.....apart from getting temporary "blind" really the best spot!!

Just a question: How is it possible that you do have a visa in a passport that is about to expire?
Are you sure that your visa is still valid?
-
Beware of maximum weight allowed.
Check on the label!!

At least a Thai with some kind of common sense, well up to certain level that is.
Of course he is not longer in a position to get his share of the THB 15 billion, so he is against it.
Anyway........his plan for a bypass highway sounds good.........will be somewhat like the 331 with proper entrances and exits to North Pattaya, South Pattaya, Jomtien, Na-Jomtien and Bang Saray.
An alternative could be an elevated part on top of Sukhumvit connecting the #7 to Sukhumvit all the way up pass Tesco Lotus South Pattaya.
Examples are the fly-overs and elevated parts of Sukhumvit at Laem Chabang and Au Udom.

I am surprised at the Swedish embassy if they in fact tried to get the Pattaya Police to stop him. I understand suicide is legal in Sweden and I can understand a person calling them to make it easier for others to tie up the loose ends after his death but it seems they may have acted beyond their remit in this case.
It is his decision to make and not that of others.
AFAIK, suicide is illegal in Sweden.
If you kill your self you will be .............. dam_n.........
-
No word about the last phone call on the phone they found.
IMHO he was "helped" and someone phoned the Embassy from another location.
If.....just IF the Swedish Embassy was able the mobilize the BiB instantly, it'd probably took the 5 minutes to get to the scene of the supposed suicide and a few minutes of CPR would have been enough to bring some life back in to him.
OK....I know...speculations, but as all other posters are wondering........phone to the Embassy, being naked and pull a bag over your head and start your voyage to the other side. Weird!!

Hansje......looking at your name you must be Dutch or at least Dutch-languaged.
Things in Thailand are way different from what we are used to.
As many other posters told you....take the THB 40,000 and leave the rest.
You may go to a lawyer in Europe, but they'll charge your loss per hour.
Connections or no connections, next time you rent a property read your contract and only accept a contract in Thai and English.
Every time I rented a property the landlord returned me what we agreed minus possible utilities, but I usually leave a property in a better state than it was when I moved in.

I suppose that the 2 women did teach their customers about Thainess, according to Ms. Y's request.

Maybe Ms. Y. should ask herself first why so many Thais live abroad and why so many students study abroad.
If she knows the answers and acts accordingly, she doesn't have/dare to ask these kind of silly questions.

For sure there are "laws" on noise, but as with any other law.....they are ignored big time.
As long as nobody complains, construction may take place 24/7.
AFAIK there are plenty of condominium-complexes where drilling or making any other noise isn't allowed between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.
A Thai will not easily complain, regarding a possible loss of face and that's something that constructors use for their benefit.
BTW........guests who are staying in the Bella Villa Hotel along Pattaya Klaang near Pattaya Memorial Hospital.......enjoy your stay there.

Off topic bickering about other car manufactures removed also quoted replies. The big sign at the top of this topic says:
New Honda Dealership In Najomtien
Is that the one opposite the new Nissan dealer?

quote:
"Underage Bar Workers found by Police at Central Pattaya Bar
PATTAYA:Pattaya Police conducted an undercover operation on Monday whereby an undercover foreign operative was able to exchange money with a girl under the age of 18 in exchange for the promise of sexual services."
I always thought that prostitution was illegal in Thailand, period.
But it only seems to be illegal to sell sexual services for girls under 18.
Prostitution in Thailand is widely ignored and it doesn't exist.
If they just checked the underaged bar-workers' ID they could have 'arrested' them without admitting to the sex-part of their job.
Working in a bar under the age of 18 is prohibited as is visiting a bar under the age of 20........huhhh?

On a US watch list........for God sake.
Let's ask Snowden what he thinks about the case.

I think that it depends on the reason of the "emergency"-extension; if it was an emergency-extension
The 7 days extension are given pretty easy now, but a few years ago, you needed a damn good reason in order to get those 7 days.
AFAIK there should be no problem when he leaves the country and re-enters by land or air.
-
This doesn't mean that the land-crossings are unlimited too. Right?
-
It's not just with ordering food, a lot of Thais do have problems in understanding others.
In some cases people respond with "Arai na", basically asking for a repeat of what was said.
Same for Thais on the telephone........takes ages to get messages across.

My daughter starts school next year. There will be no van rides in her future.
agree with that my little boy is to precious to be riding with those death-traps
will be happy to spend 6000 on diesel a month just to make sure he gets from and to the school in 1 piece.
Unfortunately......that won't be a guarantee.

That's why I don't marry, I want to stay healthy, and alive.

Un welcome, discrimination!
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
Billyfish, I know exactly how you feel.
Although you are not discriminated, that's the you feel about their attitude.
I did have the same problem in Sri Racha.....going back and forth to Labor, Immigration, Revenue Dept., and this over and over again.
Sometimes I think that immigration officers are more or less frustrated that they are not able to collect more money along the roadside, checking motorbikes.
