  1. I've been driving around for 30,000-40,000 km per year with my regular driving license.

Did have some minor accidents, no problem.

Was stopped several times, no problem.

Did rent a car a few times, no problem.

My insurance accepts my driving license.

It's not said that an IDL or IDP is for tourists only.

AFAIK an IDP has a validity of one year and is valid in Thailand for 90 days at a time.

If you are a "resident" of Thailand; leave the country every 90 days and get an IDP every year you're covered.

Of course it's easier to obtain a Thai DL.

  2. 1. Another non-B single entry 90 days will be issued based on the paperwork of your future employer; that doesn't need to be a WP-application. Any Thai Embassy or Consulate will do.

    2. There may be a chance to take the school's paperwork to the nearest immigration office; put on your friendliest face, look like a puppy dog and ask for an extension until the WP-application is settled. You do have a "NO", "YES" is what you can get.

  3. I've already stated you can walk away from the large area of blockage.

    That isn't the point.

The point is this "organized" transport system thinks they have the right to block an entire block in front of the mall, blocking access in that area to baht bus boarders.

Who gave them them that right? Why is their right more important than the general public?

Who denies them of that right? Is there a law that prohibits double parking and waiting for customers in front of malls?

Yes, there is a law against double-parking and if the side-walk is painted red-white stopping is prohibited too.

As with all laws in Thailand........it's the enforcement!!

The first thing they should do in Pattaya is reducing the number of Song Taews to 350-400 (now approx. 650-700).

  4. Medication at BHP isn't overly expensive. They only use brand name drugs, which will cost exactly the same at Fascino. Been there, done that.

What people are confused with is that at Fascino in most cases you're able to get generic version of the same medication prescribed at BHP, which are remarkebly cheaper.

    I can't believe that, sorry.

You don't have to believe me, you can do the test yourself.

Get the detailed bill from BHP, then go to Fascino and ask for the exact same brand name drug and compare.

As I said, been there done that.

BHP makes it outrageous charges on doctors fee's and rooms.

Friend got prescription from Cardiologist at BPH.

BPH pharmacy would charge approx. THB 10,000 per month for the whole lot.

Fascino charges approx. THB 6,000 for the same (no generic alternatives) including the Fascino discount.

IF you like to take the risk, you could do it a lot cheaper with generic alternatives, but they cause other side effects in some cases; beware!

  5. IMHO Pattaya Memorial is a well-equipped and extensive ER-room with most OPD facilities.

It serves in most occasions as an emergency facility and after stabilizing, patients "find" their way to other hospitals.

  6. Put yourself in the position of a Thai and ask the same questions about a Westerner?

95% of the peculiarities of a people is their culture.

But I;ll try to give my 2 cents on some of your peculiarities:

    - tinted windows: the windows are tinted to keep the sun out. Some people are well aware of the fact that apart from the sun the views on the interior and the driver stays out and yes, they'll start to behave like invisible. The fact that they hardly have any view to the outside world causes them to drive like crazy.

    - changing tyres every 2 years? That's more some marketing-policy os the B-Quick, ACT, Bridgestone and all the other tyre-shops. One says, you should change your tyres every 70.000 km and another says you should change them every 2 years. Personally I change them when the profile is under a safe minimum (less than 2 mm) or if the tyre starts showing cracks.

    - Corruption is a part of Thailand's macro- and micro-economy. Without corruption everything will come to a standstill. Everybody is used to do so and everybody is anxiously waiting to be in the position to benefit from corruption.

    - Leaving plastic on seats, tv's, in cars, furniture, fridges means: I just bought it....it's still new! Of course, after a few weeks, the products with the partly removed plastic looks scruffy. I even find protection foil on a 4 yo remote of an airconditioning asking my self why I can't read the display.

    - Donating fortunes to monks is as donating fortunes to the Pope or Allah. All donators expect something in return. Christians pay of their sins and Buddhists try to buy some luck. I respect both "views" but I'll deal with my own sins and having luck is a matter of .... well luck.

I love this country too and yes, there a lot more peculiarities.......

  7. I suppose that it's not only for cases against foreigners but also for cases on behalf of foreigners.

Why do you suppose that, it didn't actually say it?

Perhaps we had the same thought where victims of crime in Thailand are tourists, and they are the only witness against the 'alleged', that Fast Tracking would be beneficial, to see justice done. I believe quite often the only witnesses against the , shall we say snatcher, were on a 2 week visit, are well gone, and not inclined to return.

Sure, it didn't say that, but all posts following the OP were suggesting that it is only for cases against tourists.

  8. Thanks for all the replies everyone.

@Yankee99 - to you it maybe redicilous, to someone who hasn't had a bike here for too long and always has done washes himself in the village - not so. I've been driven a car here for a number of years and know where to go for car washes, but during all the years here I've never seen bike was anywhere, guess I wasn't looking either, but the question was serious and replies helpful so thanks again.

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Well, if you know where to let your car washed.......they are also able to wash your bike.

  9. The police did not want to charge him because the man already made claims he had no money...

    He made a report earlier:

"he had reported the theft of a bag at Pattaya Police Station earlier in the night"

So there you go cant charge a man for money when they already know it was stolen...

THAT's the solution.........report your wallet stolen at Soi 9 and after that: PARTY time. What ever you do or mis-do..........whistling.gif

  10. In order to get a non-immigrant-B(usniess) visa you'll need documents from your future internship

In order to get a non-immigrant-ED(ucation) visa you'll need documents from your future internship

In order to get a double-entry tourist visa you won't need any documents from a third party.

Either take care of the internship while in NL or enter Thailand on a visa-exempt (30 days) or a double entry tourist-visa (max. 180 days with one visa-run).

If you would like to obtain a non-immigrant visa while in Thailand, they usually re-direct you to a neighboring consulate or embassy.

  11. If the delivery-time of a new is the main issue........shop around!!

There is always a dealer with the required model in stock.

I ordered a Civic last July and was given 3 months delivery time......after 2 weeks they offered me an alternative (more expensive) model instead......delivery time: Instantly.

The ordered vehicle showed up after 4 weeks!

  12. So, if ILLEGAL Russian loan-sharks rip off other Russians, then it isn't a problem as long as it doesn't affect Thais.

This opens new perspectives for loan-sharks from many other countries sick.gif

Did you not see in the article that Thai police arrested Russian loan sharks?

Yes, I did. Didn you notice that this news report is a follow up on the investigation regarding the arrest? Probably the arrested Russian loan-shark paid the BiB generously; that's why they came up with this bright and shiny conclusion.
