This is a junta thats ruining this country.

    Theres no comparison.

Now theres talk about having a convicted heroine dealer succeeding Pryutt.

My Thai wife said that this government is the worst in Thai history.  That seems to be the sentiment of many Thais.

    There is no comparison.

The corruptable voted in the corrupt.

    Serious question.

When I first came to Thailand around 2017~2018, Thais smiled a lot. Very natural and beautiful smiles.

When I came back around 2019~2020, I sensed that Thais smiled a lot less. Very fed up looking smiles.

Q1. Did Thais smile more before 2017?

Q2. What happened between 2018 & 2019 to make Thai smiles fade away?

I've always though that the 1980s was the happiest of times for the Thais and myself.

But in fairness, they do millions of tests and the deaths in the UK have plummeted.

You can't stop people getting Covid, you can only stop them dying of it and then learn to live with Covid. Which is what the UK's vaccination process has done.

    Thailand on the other hand....

    https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/deaths

And all these charts show deaths on the rise again. It's far from over.

And they deliver to you, cash on delivery in Thailand. Do you say that you keep social distancing rules when paying them? How exactly do you do that?

When this all started Lazada would deliver a prepaid parcel leaving it at my gate asking me not to pick it up until they'd left. That's all stopped now and we're back to a friendly hand to hand delivery. I'm sure a system could be worked out for paying keeping social distance. It's hardly rocket science.

A classic mistake. After working here for nearly 20 years I realise Thais actually have a pretty good knowledge of the world outside - but those who judge are usually using they own Western-centric criteria..... e.g. They may not know who Elvis or the Beatles are but they will know "Big Bang". The name of the PM of Laos,

there is a parochialism in Thai culture but no worse than Brexitism in the UK.

I've found it a different kind of knowledge. I've been asked such things as "does England have chickens?" & told "747s are made in Thailand because Thai Air has them". Pretty sure I've done similar. Mai pen rai.
