  1. If passed, Trump could shoot someone in the middle of 5th avenue and nothing would happen. Well, maybe friends and relatives might seek revenge. Jordan and those sycophants have never heard the maxim "We are a nation of laws and not men". Used to be something to be proud of, in spite of occasional hiccups
  2. This forum may qualify as one of those pesky "foreign media" outlets that makes Thailand look bad by reporting the news. Many times I've brought up some item I read about here, but it's just silence from Thai media. Bottom line might be "no foreign coverage" (which we can't control) and assumed no Thai coverage (we can threaten into submission).
  3. Yeah, that is like my ex saying "I didn't sleep with him". No, you had sex and then you went home to sleep.
  4. could have been worse. Could have been "Smile Happy Fortune Lucky Family Airlines"
  5. So lying in good faith is some sort of virtue? Does he actually believe any of that?
  6. It appears victim was in buoyed off area, usually "supervised" by so called "lifeguards". If they are anything like the ones near where I live, they are worse than useless: sit at tables all day looking at their phones, half of them even facing away from the beach. Have so much clothes and gear on they would be at risk for drowning....
  7. Many Thai think US and Europe are one and the same. Really
  8. I get plenty of food from carts, followed by mom and pop small Thai restaurants. Does the cook look healthy? Good indicator of hygiene. Is the cooking done out front where you can watch? Too much disagreeable goes on behind closed doors. I don't go to that famous US chicken outfit. Food poisoning was a 50-50 proposition. I don't get sick from street food.
  9. When I saw the prices, I thought "Finally, real prices not the expat working for western corporation expenses cost of living junk". Ah, but then we get the "Aussie beef costs more than my daughter's wedding", same for wine. You're in a different country, what you pine for (rather than enjoying Thai food) is like a 7 year old crying for Maypo. Have you priced Thai food back in your home country? Very east to get great pad Thai hear for 40-50 baht. In US can easily run $15 (about 500 baht). I've stayed a plenty of great little hotels in Bangkok and Pattaya in 500 baht range: clean, comfortable, air con. And price often included breakfast. Prices aren't always higher in big cities. People (well, expats) remarked how cheap Jomtien was. I thought the opposite, having moved from Phra Kanong in Bangkok. And quality much lower....
  10. They just amended that advice: Only exhale and you'll be just fine
  11. If Iran wanted some US weapons to copy, might it be easier to buy them from the Taliban? I am pretty sure lots of weapons were left behind when US took a powder
  12. Besides early citation by placeholder, there is this in US Constitution " Article I, Section 10, Clause 3: No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay." Seems Trump has more company in the "I haven't a clue what the Constitution states" crowd. Dumber than a box of rocks
  13. "...to fix a drainage problem that had just been fixed." I would take issue with idea that "problem had just been fixed". If they have to go work on it again, that seems to indicate the problem wasn't "fixed" before..... more fixes, more envelopes: where's the problem?
  14. I would like to see some specifics regarding this porn: Name the schools that have these books in the general library. Even name the librarian. Until I get some specifics, it seems too fuzzy, similar to "some people are saying xyz". Name names and places, then we can talk based on facts & not just what a grandstanding politician says is "true"
  15. You live in Thailand? Live near other farangs? (If you are one). People of like interests and cultures often hang out with each other, as opposed to a larger majority that is different. That is not segregation. It is choice, the individuals choice. When the government decides who you can and can't associate with, that is segregation. Think of the Warsaw ghetto of WW2. If you can't see the difference between "must" be separate versus "choose" to be separate, there is little hope for you
  16. I like her. She's <deleted> off many.... recall the tsunami and how she insisted on taking DNA samples etc of victims and that led to feeling of stepped on toes for those gov types who just wanted to burn them. I also believe she had input on that put up job of those two Burmese workers monkey trialed into conviction for killing the couple on Koh Tao that angered the local pirates and their official henchmen But I could be wrong...
  17. "The school of life has a high tuition, but some fools will learn in no other" per Ben Franklin, approximately
  18. No idea what you are talking about there. Recall decade or so ago seeing handbill for concert Big Ass and underneath Potato. Thought it was one group and what a great name.... "Boom boom cash" is what the bar girls send back to Isaan, right?
  19. Saturday night will include "Boom Boom Cash".. really.... I'd bet many here are familiar with that item
  20. as Pattaya is mentioned, right now BKK is 153 and Pats is 155. People may rail about motor vehicle pollution and how that needs to be cracked down on, but look at 2.5 map of Thailand: autos are just light frosting on the cake. Field burnings, here and neighboring countries are the culprits. Officials may rail about vehicles, but that is just a bit of "look over there!" distraction
  21. Huh. I always thought it was the nation of Islam who killed him for turning his back on their racist form of Islam and speaking out against Elijah Muhammed for womanizing and so forth
  22. "...counterfeit mobile phones and electronic devices were found which cost more than 20 million baht." Did that junk cost that much or did they hope to sell it for that much?
  23. he's lying again.... He's a good enough liar that neither the Republicans nor the Democrats looked into his claims about his past. Now that takes pretty good lying....well, good enough.... put most of the blame on the demos, as they had most to lose. The Republicans have clearly shown with former president that massive lying is not a handicap, so why look into George?
  24. Suggest reading "The Hot Zone" or watching the good adaptation in film. Give some grade A "OMG!"s for sure
