I wonder if an agreement was penned offering an end of hostilities with current land held stay as it is which side would take the deal? Seems both sides are akin to sluggers in a ring both battered to near comatose throwing bombs at each other barely attempting to block incoming punches.

Look in fairness I am not a fan of the Democrats policies on many issues so hard for me to be unbiased. But I refuse to believe they don't have at least ONE candidate they could run that isn't a complete idiot. In the last 3 elections they ran: Hillary - she felt entitled to the position and you could tell she expected a landslide. That she lost to a man as bombastic as Trump indicates how far left the DEM party has drifted and how out of touch with mainstream voters. Biden - a shadow of a man who won sitting in a basement on millions of ballots from "drop boxes" in a very questionable election today. And one who showed how far gone he was in his first debate in 2025 forcing DEMs to remove him from running. Kamala - an idiot who has never accomplished anything and never won a single state in a primary election. I am no huge fan of Trump but my god is this all the DEMs have? How bout Fetterman? A man of principle and not tied to the far far left policies dragging down the DEM party? The Beshear/Kelly mentioned above is far superior to the loons leading most polls of Kamala and AOC types. Whatever. Dems may take the midterms (typical) but if Trumps second term ends with Americans feeling more prosperous and secure they will lose the presidency again running more socialists and far lefties.

Well lets be honest. If it actually comes to that Canada needs a whole lot more than a few fighter jets. I don't see the relationship between USA and Canada ever falling to military contest. Too much intertwined business, culture and history. Just because the current leader of Canada is far left and USA has Trump doesn't change the PEOPLE of both nations have similar characters. Was discussing this subject last night with a Canadian guy who was very up to speed on the issue, and he made several very good points. The F35 is a single engine jet with limited range compared to the Gripen for use covering wide area. Canada doesn't do inflight refueling. Also the operating costs are massively different. I can see why logically, not current anti-American sentiment, might result in getting the Gripen. Especially since if Russia for some really unseen reason invades Canada USA would send F22s up there in a heartbeat.

No expert in military here. I think the Gripen offers interceptor ability minus stealth and other features of the US made jets. Also minus a very much higher price tag and maintenance cost. It's pretty clear the F22 rules the sky but at a massive cost. In many cases unless you are facing a nation with F22s the Gripen probably works just fine.

Thanks for that. Curious though I was responding to someone that thought Europe could sell it's holdings and somehow damage the USA. Yes it could, but they would also be hammered financially because the value of those bonds would be trashed. Once started I think it would result in devaluation of all US bonds which would harm the USA but would be mutual suicide. I don't much care for how Trump blustered to get negotiation position on Greenland. If it's against Maduro, N Korea, Russia, China or Iran I'm OK with any tactic or threat. But Europe (EU, and UK) are long time allies with same western culture and values. I prefer to deal with Europe as friends and allies at all time.

I am not an economist so maybe this is obvious. How can they sell their treasuries? They can not force the US to do anything regarding them. Only continue with the terms when sold. Is there some alternative market they could offer them on at distressed rates? Also how much would it cost them if they did sell at below face value? Europe is as heavily indebted as the USA and can they afford to?

Problem with that is if the US economy crashes (which it might if the bonds don't sell) the rest of the world follows suit.

OK, full disclosure. I did not vote Trump in any primaries, I did vote for him in three general elections (well consider how awful the alternatives were). This Greenland thing has me baffled. Both as to WHY he wants it so bad when we already have established bases and no end in sight of being allowed to remain, And, as to what right we have to force Denmark to cede it to the USA. This no longer seems like a distraction issue to me and he seems serious about annexing it. Help a brother out. What the F is going on here?

I think the effort to stop the flow of drugs overall, border tightening and hitting them in Venezuela, will have an effect on the import of Cocaine into the USA. Lasting impact? Meh I don't know. It probably drives up the price on the street for now and maybe a few people don't start. Who knows. And if the next president is like Biden with a wide open border nothing will have changed. As to fentanyl that is a greater problem and I don't know if this has any impact.

Shocking that you admit ridding the world of Maduro is GOOD. No doubt if Obama or Biden had done this you would be cheering. Surprised you haven't already accused Trump of war crimes. There has only been one candidate for president from one of the two major parties to lose the election and then successfully get the nomination again. These parties do NOT like losers. You get one shot. Wait now it's two since Trump lost in 2020 and won in 2024. You will laugh when you find out who the first one was.

Well I had little faith in the system so I got a 60 day Tourist Visa for arrival in January. Might have jumped thru hoops and paid money for no reason but at least I know I will have my 60 days in peace

I think there are two reasons tiny cars don't catch on here. First, how comfortable are you with a brodozer pickup truck behind you? Do these cars pass the safety requirements and crash tests? Second, most people drive some distances and they aren't very good on highways. I remember looking at the Smart Car that Mercedes worked with and sold at some of their dealerships. Hey, yeah I'm a yank and like larger cars. RIde comfort safety all factor. That smart car the drivers seat was about 6 inches in front of the back bumper. Not sure I like the idea of a large truck in traffic with it's grill a foot behind my head. Then I saw it only got 36 MPG versus sa hybrid Camry which was better and a real car. I'm not an ICE vs EV guy. Both technologies have their pluses and minuses. But I know I want a large enough vehicle to ride well and protect me in a crash.
