I would say 0.1% of foreigners would steal while in Thailand but 99.9% of Thais would steal,lie,cheat,scam,rob anyone while on holiday.its seems to be in their blood and a natural thing to do and a way of life.

My point is that it is not possible for someone over a certain age to get insurance policy, whether single trip or multi for any period longer than 6 months originating in the UK. So I just tested online insureandgo. Age 68, one year policy Jan 1-Dec 31. No go.
Shengen visas require proof of insurance. By your logic, no one over 68 is allowed to be a tourist in the EU countries?

Interesting report, thanks. What happens if, say, you're diabetic or have some other condition that requires medication every 12 hours. Do they let you pick it up from home (presumably for a fee) or are you just left to die? If they won't even give you drinking water then I can't imagine they'll provide free insulin, or whatever else you may need.
Or perhaps just take some responsibility and don’t drive drunk?

I applaud the young traveller for insisting on the meter. These types of taxi drivers are a
menace to all the decent ones out there. I simply refuse to get in a taxi until I see the meter pressed, but hey, that's me. Of course it took a gaggle of Thais to rob the Aussie. They do like to fight unfairly, and a gun! Wow. Cowards.
Just to be clear, we are now assuming the robberies, if any, are Thai?
