  1. This will be interesting.

Will the "disappearing rice stocks" be part of the evidence? I doubt it.

Was anything ever done to investigate the corruption that the Dems raised in the censure debate a couple of years ago?

What was done following the NACC's warning to the government about the rice scheme corruption?

Does never attending a meeting as chairman provide enough evidence for negligence?

  2. she was a great PM and really suprised me, i didnt expect she could step up but she did.

her standout and defining moment, apart from her excellent election campaign, was how she handled the protesters. patiently she waited them out, eventually they lost supporters every week and finally there was hardly any left.

compare that to Abhisit and Suthep who gave the order for live ammunition .... and killed almost a hundred.

also the way she dealt with some pretty ugly, fanatical, hate filled opposition groups in the public.... when she responded it was with grace, dignity, unlike the ugliness from her opponents. and im sure some of that will be on display again in the responses to this post.

    anyhow, well done Yingluck....

What was her epitome of greatness for you?

  3. It is my understanding that barring the cabinet that was in place before midday, there were no other MPs left following the dissolution of the house.

That means that a new PM must be selected from the beheaded, dismembered and gelded remains.

  4. What was Samak kicked out for? Receiving 5,000 Baht for appearing on a cookery programme in a previous piece of blatantly political interference from the courts.

Tarit was effectively a civil servant who was openly critical of the government. He had to go.

Tarit has to go for sure.

  5. Just spent 75 minutes northbound on Phaholyothin going 200m.

There appears to be a fire at or near the criminal courts at Ratchada.

This was after a massive storm so probably lightning

  6. Actually it's the responsibility of the storage depots to keep records and report these to a central office who eventually reports to the government.

It's like saying it's the governments responsibility to know where all the fuel tankers deposit their fuel after it's left the fuel depot.

    No it isn't!!!

Every storage depot should have a transport manager and logistics manager who logs all the entries and exits.

Every depot should have a weigh bridge as well to tally up what's on the shipping/transport invoice.

That's not Yonglucks responsibility there's dedicated people who should be hauled up for questioning waaaaaaaaay before she's been hauled in.

    Poor analogy.

The Petroleum AuThority of Thailand is the government body to which you refer and is more usually referred to as PTT.

It most certainly should know where its stock is at any given time and it does.

How in the name of God could anyone ever run such a scheme where nobody has a grip on either cash or stock?

You wouldn't run a noodle cart like that!

  7. The NACC have the power to take down a government.

Therefore the highest level of scrutiny and accountability should be put on this organization, by the public to ensure they are independent, just, consistent and fair with their actions.

Fact is, the NACC are not independent, they are a judicial arm of certain interests, and a full public investigation needs to be opened ASAP, they are not above scrutiny.

Common street hookers have the power to take down governments

NACC is not judicial in any way

The evidence they uncover will be considered by a court of law and if the decision is againts Yingluck, she will have the right of appeal

So - enough of your misguided hyperbolex

Last thing I heard, your average "common street hooker" as you put it, doesn't have the power to recommend to the Senate that a PM be impeached.

NACC is not judicial in any way? You might want to tell Vicha Mahakhun that before he gives out any more interviews to the press outlining corruption which his Committee hasn't proved.

He also defined the NACC "system" was an inquisitorial system who's remit was to establish "facts" not an adversarial system where a lawyer is allowed to defend the accused. Unfortunately he seems to have got the two systems mixed up and ended up with an adversarial system where the facts aren't checked ("missing rice") and the accused has no access to a defence.

I didn't say that the ladies of the night have the power to recommend to impeach - but as Berlusconi discovered, they can bring an end to a corrupt politician's career.

Outlining the basis of a case to the press is certainly within the remit of any investigative organization - from the DSI to the DA. It's called transparency.

I'm sure that when the outcome is read out it will be made abundantly clear whether missing rice forms part of the evidence. If it doesn't then will YS or her legal representatives apologise?

  9. I still don't understand how any party expects to achieve reform without subverting the constitution and the law.

How.about this for a novel idea. Some person write out a list of what they want to reform and make it a manifesto and see if the people will vote for it?

It may well come down to that. Probably the dems as the others lack the nous

  10. Wait a sec,,, The anti-graft has the authority to call any witnesses and introduce any evidence into the case say's the NACC,

BUT when the defendant wants to call witnesses or introduce evidence into the case, the NACC say's NO!!!

And now the has been a compliant about the unfairness of the NACC, they are crying the PM's lawers are intimidating them.

I see no intimidation, only lawers manovering inside the law as lawrs do, isn't that what you pay them for?...

Unless you know what evidence the NACC has and what evidence YS' lawyer is attempting to introduce, you are talking out of your hat

  11. When there's been accusations of missing thousands of tonnes of rice the onus is on the accusers to prove this is indeed the case and normally when such accusations happen then a stock take by an independent authority is required and if the stock isn't missing then be prepared to be countered.

I don't see a problem in the government insisting the stocks be checked if they've been accused of having such huge numbers missing.

Whose job is it to maintain accurate stock and cash figures on this scheme?

The government!!! They are the administrators. Their own records show losses.

  12. NACC have already stated that the witnesses they didn't allow had nothing further to add to the case. End of argument.

Perhaps if PT/CAPO/UDD stop criticising, intimidating and threatening legal action against NACC etc if a decision doesn't go their way, and perhaps if (just for once in her life) Yingluck was available to meet them directly for once instead of campaigning for votes as always, they'd be a bit more lenient/sympathetic/helpful.

The NACC has already been far too lenient with her by bending its own rules to assist her.

I don't see too many of the 60 odd million people in this country who have followed the stories of the rice scheme and witnessed the massive losses believing anything other than guilt.

  13. The NACC have denied the government the chance to mount an effective defense, The government has stated that if they are not treated fairly then they will bring charges.

The NACC are not above the law they should be fair and un-biased but they are not.

If I were in Yingluck's shoes I would have attended all the hearings in person instead of hiding in CM and sending thugs to the offices.

Is the NACC obliged to see any witnesses? No. Just to have enough of a case to move forwards or to drop it.
