  1. Flew KL to Chiang Mai last week on a one way ticket with AirAsia. On line check in, printed luggage sticker from machine then used automated baggage drop. Interacted with no one so not sure how things are checked. I do have a visa maybe that was checked by immigration at KL but I doubt it. Generally I think it is pot luck if you get asked for onward travel without a visa. I have been asked more often than not.
  2. Immigration at Central Festival is less busy than the office near the airport. They are helpful and you can get a 30 day ext there
  3. A few friends of mine applied for the 30 day TV. Processing should be about 3 working days but sometimes a bit longer. Quite a few reports of payment issues so best not leave to the last minute and obviously use the official site
  4. It is being reported on some CM Expat sites by a poster who is reliable. No border bounces allowed. Reason is apparently due to the crackdown on dodgy visas given to Chinese individuals that has been in the news recently
  5. Just applied and received by post a TR60 from Canberra. Even wrote them an old fashioned letter explaining why I had no return flight. As a Brit who has done a couple of e visas it was almost nostalgic
  6. I am in Bali and the Jetstar flights really are a mess. Not fussed about the possibility of staying a few extra days but the liability for overstay fines at 2,500B a day will be interesting
  7. Maybe I worded it poorly. I meant to ask if a visa exempt entry will now be 45+45 or 45+30.
  8. Any news on wether the visa exempt extension will be 30 or 45 days? Thanks.
  9. I used to think chosing between BA and Thai from LHR was a bit like asking if you would prefer to walk or swim to Thailand. I will take a break in the Middle East any time
  10. It is a confirmed booking but only has a validity of 3 to 7 days. If you are going to show at check in (which I do) best only purchase just before you fly. I find them excellent peace of mind
  11. I had a STV last year. With borders closed it worked a treat and I got a stay of nearly a year. With borders open the STV is too much of a hassle, I will go back to SETV and just move around
  12. Just arrived in Singapore. On line arrival card/ health declaration. Hand over passport, look at camera and off you go. Email follows to confirm your legal entry. No stamp in passport. It can be easy Thailand
  13. Making the brave assumption that non visa requirements are the same for all (I am a Brit) There are no quarantine or pcr requirements if you are fully jabbed. You need to complete an on line Digital Passenger Declaration, similar to Thai Pass. I flew CNX SIN BNE. Documents checked thoroughly at Chiang Mai but not again. Hard copies of everything helped. Overall not difficult. If you are an Aussie you still need a DPD and check WA for local requirements as they may as well be a separate country.
  14. I had a quick look and a tourist visa sub class 600 may work. I entered a Thai national travelling from Thailand in to www.visafirst.com and indicated that it is possible. Obviously an agent and you can apply via the Oz Govt. site but worth a look. I recently entered Oz on a different visa so am up to speed on entry requirements other than visa. Good luck
  15. Air Asia have been flying to CNX from DMK and BKK for some time.
  16. I have always found immigration at CNX to be reasonable. For very long stayers who knows. Flights operating now from KUL with AA or SIN with Scoot.
  17. STV is certainly available, not sure about every Embassy though. The scheme was extended till Sept 2022. Up to the individual to decide if it is a better option than the METV.
  18. Looks like it. Normally the Single Entry is referred to as SETV or TR and the Special as STV. No big deal as long as you get what you want????
  19. The STV scheme is due to finish 30 Sept. It may or may not be continued. If it is not you may have difficulty getting any extensions after this date. I was in this situation last year but it worked out. Not sure you can get a definitive answer to this but take it into consideration. For proof of accomodation I used the front page of my lease agreement. I do stay in the same place but there are plenty of templates out there. Just sayin.
  20. Yes. My UK vaccination records were PDF. My Thai booster was just a screenshot of a hard copy A4 document. Not difficult even for me. I got very frustrated with the Thai Certificate of Entry last year.
  21. I recently completed the Aussie version of Thailand Pass. You need to upload pretty much the same documents. I am a computer dummy, it took no more than 5 minutes and confirmation was instant.
  22. Completely agree which is why I hedged my bets with 'may' ???? I had a STV last year and got nearly a years stay with a covid ext. I was pretty nervous before they extended the scheme in Sept though.
  23. Word of caution about getting a STV. If the scheme does finish on 30th Sept as proposed you may end up with a lot less than 9 months. Last year they extended before the deadline. This year who knows.
  24. Done SIN CNX loads of times in the last 10 years on Tourist Visas and never a hassle. I did the reverse trip last week. Watched the incoming passengers disembark, met by the hazmat crowd. It is the only international flight so immigration wont be packed
