Bill Heinecke: "Crazy to give vaccines to tourists"
mran66 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well, depends on implementation of free vaccine plan. As an example, give two free Moderna or Pfizer vaccines for all Chinese who stay here minimum interval for the two vaccines. That could well work if marketed in China where only local vaccines are available as far as I know. For sure cost of vaccines is a fraction of forex they would bring in. Could even charge a small fee from them- 98 replies

List of issues that can only be explained with this statement is fairly long...guess best to conclude that I can understand that I can not understand many issues...

Law is silly yes...but in prime location such as VT7 is, the units still have substantial value as rental units, thus would expect even Thai be interested in them at market price. And if not, Russian earlier or Chinese later as company owned (as they have in many newer buildings) Would be kind of be weird if developer knowingly designs and builds a building of such shape, and assuming the wings would remain there only as support to enable the 49% to be sold at premium price...would that really lead to better business case vs selling the thai units at market price that could well be lower than the main wing? And still as owner be liable for their part of maintenanc fees (presumably).

If really no regulatory issues inhibiting the sale, sounds kind of strange...developer sitting on top of tied capital for extended period of time whereas they could sell and invest to something new. Seemingly they truly believe that value increase in future vs current market price is so big that better just wait and stand still even without offering for rent, who knows.

I guess the lie was the alphabet s had gone to end of the word 'give' whereas the true thing thing is it should have been at the end of the word 'fiancee'...

Interest withholding tax
mran66 replied to peterfranks's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Your advice was good. Contacted HQ via the website feedback channel. Within 2hrs got response. Couple of email exchanges on top of that, and in the evening the Pattya Tai branch manager called me, apologizing the 'misunderstanding' and asked to come visit him. Went today, and issue settled as expected i.e tax ID stored, and the branch manager told no more withholding if not over 20k baht interest. Have to say I was pretty surprised and impressed about Krungrsi's professional and quick resolution of the issue. One of the rare occassions that an organization in this country resolves issues as they should. -
I not sure as I always go to the Pattaya Tai one closest to my home. However as it is a big chain, I would assume prices are same across their network of outlets.

Interest withholding tax
mran66 replied to peterfranks's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Based on some other threads in aseannow from earlier yeatrs, went to my krungsri branch yesterday with my newly issued tax ID which I thought would enable the withholding tax to be discontinued on my 800K retirement saving account (not fixed deposit) AND to get issued documents to claim back 3-4 yrs tax payments for refund application. Verdicts 1. Sorry tax ID does not help with withholding. However we can issue you the document for refund application. 2. Sorry the document for refund application is only available for last tax year (2022), not for earlier years. Point 1 I guess nothing can do. For point 2, is this really true i.e can not apply for tax refund other than the last tax year? Not a major issue per se as the tax on interest with current rate levels is something 1k+ a a year. Maybe not even worth the hassle to go to tax office to try to get the claim applied, not sure how co-operative they are for non-thai able farangs in Jomtien tax office. -
You are definitely charged farang price...I recall price in Fascino for 6x250mg was 165baht last time I bought 1-2months ago. Not 100% sure but for sure under 200. Earlier always got Acyzin but last I got was Hofmax, both local and price about same.

I've had a small house near Sands for 10yrs, and have to say I am pretty happy with the location still. had a look at few locations every now and then, always concluded nothing better for my lifestyle. Sure you need a motorbike or car to be properly mobile, however with mototaxis and bolt can survive nowadays somehow even without. Getting to Suk is not an issue normally when I need to go as not tied to local working or holiday scedules (i.e excl sat and sun afternoons when bangkokians are heading home). The roadworks in pattaya tai thepparasit in past couple of years have been a pain yes, but even thepparasit will be over soon. Butyes, of course 5-6pm there is traffic everywhere. Weekends and holidays pratamak road tends to be fairly bad at times due to bangkokians heading to the nice cozy beach restaurants for their selfies Going forward my worry is also traffic, though different type: when Panora, Ramada and few other new planned condos finish along Soi 5, Chinese are back, and Indiands possibly finding their way here too, how to get out from here due to the bus traffic.

You are correct. However there is a bit of a credibility issue with this story...some variation of the same story has been told to countless mamas neighbors friends and colleagues all over the world by many good men, possibly with the difference that their story don't mention Soi 6, and if asked, they don't know about Soi 6 A week or two later many of them seen sitting in Soi 6 bar with a lady on their lap videoed by some s****d youtuber! -
Copies of passport pages (main page, visa, entry stamp), and I guess TM6 if you still got one when entered, one passport photo and filled TM8 application form. and cash 1000/3800 single/multi varies a bit, 10-30min I recall. I never left the office before got it, won't take long. They process it on the spot go latter part of the week in the afternoon, less waiting time in queue usually before getting to counter.
