  1. Don't have vigo nor personal experience of this shop, but my neighbor used this shop to have aircon of his old merc repaired. Someone who used before for aircon work had recommendeded this place to him. Presumably some level of knowledge/focus on aircon stuff. Thai place so with reservation as always though... Anyway, he was happy with the experience. Dropped pin https://maps.app.goo.gl/3d1xad4ryVEgwYU77

    Booster shots ?

I was rejected in RGB few weeks ago as had 2x Pfizer, was told to wait 6mo from last one. Rode to Memorial hospital and got Moderna on the spot. Left 1650 bath less in pocket. Quick and easy. However I have understood that this 6mo requiremet would not be applied any more, not sure thought
  4. Every now and then, when bump to these funny policy news, I start thinking what might have been the thinking in the minds of the people who come up with them. This one triggered that thinking again. In private world, at least in my experience, there is always a thorough thinking of the purpose of the offering as well as thinking thru the logic and value proposition from target audience (customer usually) point of view, trying to understand how the targets thinks about the offering, what's the value proposition, and what are the key issues in customers mind that lead to positive choise. Trying to think this one with that approach I just can not get the logic, even trying to think with Thai mindset. I understand countries (like Cyprus) that sells passports to Russians as they see the value to get EU passport. I understand payments for retirement visas in number of countries as retirees see the value in those places based on their personal preferences. Even understand the Elite visa as it gives easy residence for sub 50 people who want to live here for whatever reason (often tax reasons involved I guess, especially in Thailand). However, for who this 3.2M work visa is for I just can not get it. People who want to work or have work permit here, there is much easier/cheaper to get the visa than 3.2M and the paperwork. People who want to invest 3.2M or more, they invest regardless of getitng visa or not, and many will actually get some other visa anyway because of the reasons behind the investment (business). And people who just want to invest without need for residence, they see little or no value for the Elite visa. My conclusion behind this one is the logic of gambling/lottery - as we know, many Thai like that for habitual/cultural reasons. People in the Elite office probably thought this like using the effort to buy a lottery ticket i.e use little bit of effort for something that is very unlikely to create positive outcome (someone paying the 3.2M), but the effort was small, comparable to 100baht lottery ticket, and the reward even if very small probability, would bring big reward in case some ignorant people actually would end up buying it. Or could it be the lazy drunkard fisherman approach i.e fisherman too lazy to fix the old broken net, yet he goes out with his boat and throws the net into sea in hope of getting a big fish (all normal sized will go thru the holes), even if likelyhood is really small? Actually this is kind of variantion of the lottery logic. Or is it just that they try to do a small upsell (i.e sell the elite visa as value add by-product) for those who buy a condo here, and see the incremental Elite visa cost to be small increment to overall package, getting some additional benefit with it, work permit being a small incremental offer without any cost to goverment? Go figure

  7. This whole thing is one of those that the mandate issuers must know being unenforceable, just very typical Thai. Just like deciding that bars can not open, yet allowing all bars be open as normal just by calling them restaurants. No way other than keep restaurants and/or bars closed if they want to disable spreading in such venues. Have not gone out much at all and kept my personal space so not much of a personal issue though When the requirement came, however went for a dinner in restaurant nearby and the waiter asked for test result. My companion had done the test (for real) and she showed, I told I wont come if need to test as I worry I have to go to govt self-paid prison if positive, making the dinner potentially very expensive for me...waiter smiled and we had our dinner well separated from other customers as only few inside - and they got their money! Seems the pic thing works good at least to get past WS club entrances, proven by a friend that can use same downloaded pic every day 555 - making the whole requirement pointless as those who don't care for spreading, or scared for the prison like me, won't test anyway. Thai logic.
  8. Isn't it pretty obvious that the script idea of the faux investigation is based on police-and-robber comic book targeted to children. Aren't weapons always found in river/ditch/pond/lake/sea in those?
  9. JT who runs Alpha is pure American, texan I recall but not 100 % sure. Maybe this one https://www.facebook.com/jack.ryland.12 Or this
  10. "... which according to the ILO, must now urgently be addressed." From perspective of an unbiased international organisation operated by international standards, this is an obvious statement. Comparable statements could be said about almost any system applicable to broader population of the country if look objectively based on modern standards. Say education system, law enforcement, corruption, just to name couple of examples; it's a long list. Just change the name of applicable UN entity in the statement. However, all mute points unless the primary issue of the society is addressed first. Unfortunately, no changes visible in foreseeable future.
  11. ...or just work out an imaginary story to show quick action and solution. Perfect for a case like this where foreigners are the likely suspects and target was a foreigner that many people actually think would be better as dead... A chance to create impression of professionalism as no local hiso to worry about... Basically, the story in media sounds too simple to be credible. Impossible not, just too shallow.

  13. ... And they seem to have good understanding how to execute the national strategy of attracting high spending tourists. They know those appreciate being mugged and robbed. Now just waiting for all wealthy to come for the Phuket cultural experience!
  14. ... His talk is equally impactful as if someone would tell him and his staff to stop on newly installed traffic lights at 30000ft...
  15. "...They were referring to the death of an electrical worker who was doing repair work in a basket atop a crane when the basket came loose and fell to the ground. .." I would guess more correct wording would be "... doing repair work from a basket they had not properly attached to the beam of the crane, and the basket consequently fell to the ground " Baskets don't just fall.
  16. I doubt many are allowed to board without the test report as it would backfire the airlines at the end. However, it is very easy to get negative test report to satisfy the requirements, it is just a piece of paper. Making fake certificates in certain countries (that now have more people arriving from) is nothing special, just business as usual.
  17. yeah. However it is completely realistic to expect that even 1st test positives has gone up as larger share of arriving people are from countries like Russia, Kazakhstan, India etc (instead of EU, US, AUS/NZ earlier) where it is much easier and cheaper to get a negative test report than positive, and is culturally fit to do so (i.e you just certify yourself with photoshop and printer). Im pretty sure major parts of positives are from culturally corrupt countries. But also it is 100% sure that 2nd test positives will go up as well as people get infected locally. The whole 5th day test is just a tourist scam - likelyhood of a farang testing positive on that test (after negative departure and arrrival tests) is way lower than a random thai to test positive, having the omicron situation here. With this logic they should call every thai for test every 5th day too...but sorry that does not generate tourist revenue so can skip 555
