I noticed there is change in notification logic after the server change: Before I got notified if anyone commented a topic/thread I had either created or commented earlier. Now I am getting a notificiation if anyoneI get a notification from the forum every time someone posts or comments to a forum section (e.g Pattaya, Samui etc) that I have ever posted or commented before. I have not changed notification settings. Not sure if this is intentional or accidental. Anyway, I personally prefer to get notification only if anyone replies/comments a topic I have created or commented before, not for every topic under the subsection as that bring a lot useless notification. And seems there is not setting to choose if want comments only for the topic or the whole section. Maybe could create such setting option...or go back to the old one to limit the quantity of notifications to the more relevant ones i.e only to the topic.

Payment of income tax under Section 41, paragraph two of the Revenue Code
mran66 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The earlier announcement about taxing funds brought to thailand is not a big issue However if they indeed would go for global income taxable in Thailand if tax resident (like many developed countries do) , that would be more serious issue. Luckily that would require law change so that can react in time. -
A bit off the topic of OP, however related question as you seem to be knowledgeable of that border: I've been considering to pay a visit to SR & Angkor from Pattaya too, just to see how much the place has changed since 22 years ago when i was there previous time. However I am wondering whether have safe parking service near the border so that could leave my car there for few days (just like you can nicely do in Nong Khai). Also heard this border crossing maybe have some hassle issues. I have non-O retirement visa and return permit, should I expect to have any issues (other than the omnipresent touts that could just politely decline)?

TM.30 reporting requirement change(?)
mran66 replied to mran66's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I never heard such, nor did immigration said anything about such. It would not make any sense either. You could think some stupid one in immigration would say something the other way though, luckily not (yet... ) -
You need to handle it in Chonburi, not in Pattaya or Rayong. I recall two visits to Chonburi main DLT needed. As farang you need to apply and pick later new plate (Chonburi one) if the current one is Rayong. If current plate is chonburi, then can handle in Pattaya DLT alone I recommend use agent to handle it to avoid the hassle. Just get your purchase paperwork in order and give to the agent. Better yet make the transfer papers in the agent office to make sure all is good first time, esp if you not familiar what is needed (did that once when sold a bike even if it was with chonburi plate) Even if current plates are chonburi, I would recommend to use agent as cheap and no hassles. I used Pu Service on Thepparasit for a car and a motorbike to transfer from BKK to Chonburi plates before. Easy as they did all the legwork

Real coffee, both beans and ground, has been around 200 baht a kilo(plus delivery) on lazada for several years. Small roasters in north, tried many and yet to get any bad tasting, rather premium taste at low price. Seems no major change in prices lately either, maybe due to not much impact by xrates

Pattaya Authorities Tackle Nuisance from Transgender Women

Just another news story like reporting about weather or traffic accident here. But try imagine news story like this in any other city than Pattaya on the planet and the shock, shame and disgust of the comments it would get there... -
TM.30 reporting requirement change(?)
mran66 replied to mran66's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I went to the very same TM30 desk after reading the very same PM story, and asked similar questions (also owner of my home). To me answer was I need to do IF 'I have something to do in immigration (like extension or residence cert.). Not necessarily contradictory to what they said you as indeed it seems no need to do if no need to deal with immigration. And as said in the OP, the day before no issue to get res cert with 4+ yrs old TM30 slip... Odds are that the whole thing will vapourise again, and effectively go to same mode it has been since 2019 -
Russian Tourist Arrested in Pattaya for Causing a Public Nuisance
mran66 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
"Russian man appeared distressed, paranoid, and was unable to communicate coherently....also grabbed other people’s laundry left hanging outside and then discarded them in a nearby trash bin for unknown reasons." A lot of them fitting this description in Ukraine. -
Tracking the growing Shinawatra influence in new Thai government
mran66 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You seriously believe they have not taken lesson learned from the mishap of past election and having to deal with the case post-election? I would be very surprised if this will be let to happen again as it would be catastrophic, though sure hope so. -
TM.30 reporting requirement change(?)
mran66 replied to mran66's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This is (was) was exactly my understanding also, until last week. My last TM30 was from Aug 2019, when Pattaya Immigration told no need to do any more if return to same address. No issues with extensions etc since then. Now the news in Pattaya Mail (https://www.pattayamail.com/latestnews/news/chonburi-immigration-bureau-tightens-address-reporting-442911) took me by surprise when saw it, and consequently went to do the new TM30, with explanations that indicate that the 2020 regulation would have been voided (i.e need to re-do TM30 if need to deal with immigration) But is there an actual formal new regulation issued for the change to go back to the pre-2020 where you would need to do this every time you enter the country? Or is this just a haphazard implementation change without any formal regulatory change that is different in different immigration offices? -

TM.30 reporting requirement change(?)

Can a farang living in his company-owned house with non-O visa, but without any thai id nor thai spouse etc, register to this system and start filing the tm30 report for himself? -
TM.30 reporting requirement change(?)
mran66 replied to mran66's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Indeed SOP for pretty much any regulation or law, or execution of those. In fact the formal rule for tm30 have indeed not changed as far as I know, just new announcements of its execution every now and then, this one the latest on tm30. And even those announcements are not actually followed in actual execution. Look forward to see how it goes with the tax issue which at last for me is substantially more. Important than any of the immigration ones. -
TM.30 reporting requirement change(?)
mran66 replied to mran66's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
actually asked 'like for extensions and residence certificate?', answer was yes. Did not push for further explanations as thought would not have much meaning. But as said, at least for residence certificate old one was ok on Wednesday. Seems need a bit time to see whether e.g extensions actually will get rejected, possibly with fine due to late tm30 reporting as per new rules, if no up to date TM.30 - or is this just the usual muddy policy implementation. -
Saw news story in Pattaya Mail yesterday about Chonburi immigration having changed their policy of TM30 reporting. Few years ago when filing one, I was told that no need to report any more after I enter the country as I have retirement Non-O visa and return to same address as I reported before (my home) and since then have had the same slip stapled to my passport without any issues with immigration ever since (have done several extensions also). As I live not far from immigration, decided to ride there right a way to file a new TM30 (last entry to Thailand about a month ago), just to avoid any issues with my upcoming renewal. Filled the papers and went to the desk, explaining my history and asking if I indeed have to report now every time I enter the country. She told no need to do UNLESS you have 'something to do with immigration', whatever that means. Thus, the updates policy still seems to be muddy...Funnily enough, just the day before I applied for residence certificate for DL, and the person in charge was completely happy with my several years old TM30 receipt (however she specifically asked for copy and actually gave back house book copy). So go figure, anyway no fine, and should be set now for my extension in a months time.
