17 Dead in Bus Crash on Hillside Road in Prachinburi
mran66 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Thailand News
How to teach people that are unwilling or/and unable to learn is the million dollar question? On top of the fact that those in power actually are happy they don't learn, making it an impossible equation -
17 Dead in Bus Crash on Hillside Road in Prachinburi

Not enough or too much yaba. -
Oh that sure is the normal way to do it...the term 'double page spread' I think really means in word processing presentation where two sequential pages of the document are shown next to each other. Sounds they just tried to express something simple and normal in too technical terms...or I am just too stupid to understand!

Another question about a technicality: The document requirement list the passport scan "...must be arranged in a double-page spread..." - I think I understand what that visually means, but have no idea how to make a pdf file to appear like that when opened (actually always thought that is a feature of the reader application rather than the pdf file itself). Any hints how to make a pdf file of scanned passport pages in that form (without buying professional publishing software)? Or is normal pdf scan document OK to meet this requirement?

Shocking Incident in Jomtien: Man Chases Tourist, with Large Knife
mran66 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
? - I read in some govt communication that pattaya is a family resort. Did I misunderstand something? -
Preparing for my application and reading what they have on their website. Saw this: "The LTR visa stay permit is granted for a period of 5 years upon initial entry into Thailand; however, its validity is strictly limited to the expiration date of the passport" If I understand this correctly, the validity starts after first entry to Thailand, however if I am already in Thailand, does it start when it is issued? If not, when? Also, as my plan is to get the visa issued to my old passport expiring end of this year, and then get a new passport when visiting home country in summertime, I assume I can enter the country with new passport, showing the visa in old passport, and then have the visa transferred to new passport when here(?)

Thai PM Assures Locals: No Israeli Takeover in Pai District - video
mran66 replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai News
Friend who was in Pai lately told his observation was that majority of these partying Israeli youth groups up there appeared to actually be Russian. Sure not of all Israelis, nor even Israelis in Thailand and likely not even in Pai. Just those that cause issues lately. Have not been there myself this year though, so 2nd hand info. But knowing Russian behaviour sounds reasonable. Many Israelis actually are Russians. -

Chemical Truck Overturns in Bangkok, Releasing Toxic Orange Vapours

Looks like fallen over in curve i.e too high speed. Driver probably assumed gravity does not apply to whatever he thought he was transporting. Or never heard of gravity in the first place. -

Solutions Sought for Dealing with Unruly Tourists in Mae Hong Son
mran66 replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Most of the "Israelis" in question are actually Russians who have Israeli passport. For some reason majority of them belong to age bracket optimal for fighting on foreign lands (with weapons) -
I just bought a new washing machine to replace the 10+ year old that terminated her contract. Very relaxing to sip coffee or cold beer while machine is quietly doing it's job, while waiting to hear different type moaning later.

Thailand Ranked 106th in English Proficiency Out of 116 Countries

Better just focus more to teach about their magnificent history and ensure they will become obedient citizens. Dangerous to teach language as well as many other things to masses. -
Can Foreign Tourists in Pattaya Expect Fair Legal Treatment?
mran66 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Fair is matter of interpretation, as is law. As long as you stay out of the country or don't break any law or don't end up to any civil case with local while here, you are likely treated fair. But if you break any of these, and end up to the legal system, against a local, odds are that you will not be treated fair in your mind, though the other party might disagree. At the end, you are at fault as if you would not have come to thailand, the issue would not have happened in the first place. -
How about your feeling for the sounds when you hear the same thai ladies getting their tantrums with the traditional yakyak sounds, and the silence following the episode?

Thailand Eyes $9 Billion Jackpot with Casino Ambitions
mran66 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
"... Develop gambling problem..."? No need to develop, they have already. The purpose of these new casinos is to milk as much money from foreigners as possible. Thais will largely be forbidden in those, esp middle and lower classes. Main Target is Chinese, Korean and Japanese as secondary. Current thai gambling system will stay, too much for police to loose to let that be distracted. -

What is "mane" road? I live down the Soi but never heard it called mane road. Luckily live far enough not to hear the roar of the cat though, but recall seeing the guy and the cat on a ride with the Bentley when it also was on news. -
