    Lost driver's license

exactly same happened to me couple of months ago. What I did 1. install the DLT QR license app, easy even if in thai language (google translate of screenshots good enough to do) if you have copy/photo of old licence where can scan the QR code. Maybe good enough alone, however I wanted to get the hard copy as well so that can show for other purposes 2. made police report and got the paper from police for lost license (not sure if this needed for replacement or not but got anyway as dont want to make multiple trips to DLT) 3. got residence cert from immigration (not sure if this needed for replacement or not but got anyway as dont want to make multiple trips to DLT) 4. made copies of passport, visa, and old license 5 went to DLT near highway 36 with the bunch of copies. Was instructed to go upstairs on some counter. Handed my papers to the person behind the desk, no words exchanged as it was obvious what I was after. Waited some 15-20min, was called to pay. Paid (some 100-200 baht I recall). Was told to wait downstairs for photo. Waited another 15min. Was called in, took photo. Waited another 15min and was called to get the replacement copy of the licence. Went back home. Validity end date same as original 5yr license, it is basically a reprint copy with updated pic not too difficult, just the usual thai hassle waiting at multiple counters (police, immigration, DLT x2)...
  5. They have to create some new requirement to enable police to collect fees based on breaking law as no need to pay any more to keep open 2-4am. But if you don't have this sobering up area (that all parties know nobody will) , can keep open if pay police. For many clubs that have been open to wee hours since covid based in deal with police, nothing changes in real life, only on paper. As simple as that, makes full sense.
  6. 555 fathom out my post, or fathom out why things work or don't work in Thailand?
  7. I just gave my tax ID to my local krungsri branch and they recorded it to their system, that's it. No more tax withheld on the monthly interest credits since then. This was about a year ago
  8. So many whys and why-nots, same in road building and basically in all other areas of human activity. Robots in factories programmed by foreign engineers work good though told one guy who works in such place. We all know why.
  9. Talking about filing a tax return, do you know whether it is mandatory even if our income level is so low that no tax would be collected? Or as per law need to file regardless of income amount if have tax ID and tax resident?
  10. Hmmm....I have same visa as you, and no income here either. The only reason I went to ask for the tax ID was for a US investment bank, thus our situation same. I can not remember whether I just told I need fo overseas bank, or said that I need to report income in future - however I recall reading someone being declined so I may have told i will have income. Just go again, try different person. And maybe tell that you will start to have rental income that you will need to file, and need tax ID for that. Alternatively, you could try telling your French bank that thai tax authorities decline tax ID application as you have no taxable income here, and see what they say...
  11. it's possible, have dedicated threads for the topic in this forum, just google https://aseannow.com/topic/610294-obtaining-refund-of-tax-withheld-on-thai-bank-fixed-savings-account/ I was thinking the same a year ago when applied for a Thai tax ID to satisfy US bank's requirement. However, in my case amounts were not that big, just interest for the 800k visa balance, so decided to pass as looked like not worth the hassle However, I submitted the tax ID to Krungsri so that they stop the automatic tax withholding starting beg this year
  12. News headline comparable to as if local Pattaya news would have headline 'Chaos erupted in Pattaya as some unevenness found in Pattaya sidewalk paving', or Isaan news would report 'Shock and awe in Kalasin as local somtam vendor sold spicy somtam to an 37 year old local woman'
  13. recall seeing this thread about 90 day reporting issues - filed mine online as done for long time on Sunday, and got back approved today. So the only change to previous times is that the approval took a bit longer, been same day or next day usually. I recall one time I had to go to immigration as I had new passport since previous report. For some reason online 90 day reporting does not work if you have new passport (they said that to me also in reporting desk as was wondering why the online does not work), instead you need to file first report with the new one physically, after which the online report works (regardless whether you leave the country later or not).
  14. ...and neither party don't give a s**t as they only think of themselves
  15. Amazing what kind of questions you see in this forum!
  16. Well, I was just triggered by lazada throwing this on my face and was surprised about price. I do have 5 stage filter set that I have used several years to filter water I use for ice and coffee/tea. But knowing Pattaya City water has some sediment as it accumulates on bottom of tank as well as toilet reservoirs, was just wondering if these cheap ones are working to collect the sediment. Not that I would really need it, but whether it would be worth to clear the water used in house (bath, laundry, dishes, toilets etc)
  17. Noticed this this kind of affordable water filters in lazada. Anyone have experiences with them, are they worth? Wondering if would be good to filter city water before entering tank and house, just to clear the sediments off. Seems have different types of filter elements - which one(a) would be the relevant for such case if worth in the first place?
  18. A question for those intelligent philosophers with outstanding deduction skills: Is it possible, even in theory, to have smart city in Thailand?
  19. I noticed there is change in notification logic after the server change: Before I got notified if anyone commented a topic/thread I had either created or commented earlier. Now I am getting a notificiation if anyoneI get a notification from the forum every time someone posts or comments to a forum section (e.g Pattaya, Samui etc) that I have ever posted or commented before. I have not changed notification settings. Not sure if this is intentional or accidental. Anyway, I personally prefer to get notification only if anyone replies/comments a topic I have created or commented before, not for every topic under the subsection as that bring a lot useless notification. And seems there is not setting to choose if want comments only for the topic or the whole section. Maybe could create such setting option...or go back to the old one to limit the quantity of notifications to the more relevant ones i.e only to the topic.
  20. The earlier announcement about taxing funds brought to thailand is not a big issue However if they indeed would go for global income taxable in Thailand if tax resident (like many developed countries do) , that would be more serious issue. Luckily that would require law change so that can react in time.
  21. A bit off the topic of OP, however related question as you seem to be knowledgeable of that border: I've been considering to pay a visit to SR & Angkor from Pattaya too, just to see how much the place has changed since 22 years ago when i was there previous time. However I am wondering whether have safe parking service near the border so that could leave my car there for few days (just like you can nicely do in Nong Khai). Also heard this border crossing maybe have some hassle issues. I have non-O retirement visa and return permit, should I expect to have any issues (other than the omnipresent touts that could just politely decline)?
  22. Thanks, it helped. In my phone chrome was up to date, but restarted it and seem to work OK Has been like that quite some time for me, however after update works as it used to do by directly clicking the title
  23. seems can not open discussion thread by clicking the title on Chrome (win 10). Firefox no problem. also, seems replying a topic with chrome on androind (xiaomi), editor does not allow to write anything thus replying impossible. Firefox no problem
  24. Many license plate numbers listed, but not the one completely destroyed. Ghost?
