Not bitter, twisted or hate filled but lived here long enough to have seen this thing thousands of times. I again state a sober person riding a motorcycle properly would have no trouble avoiding the illegally parked minibus just like the rest of us do on a daily basis. Lets hear your perfectly logical explanation them please.
Explain how this poor man was the victim of the heartless minibus driver ?

I am like you an avid fan. I try to get to at least two races each year. The last race I downloaded the HD version of the race and watched it Monday morning rather than Sunday afternoon. I actually preferred this way to UBC as I got the British commentary and pre race programme rather than that t@sser Slater that is on UBC.

I say he was drunk because stone cold sober people do not run into the backs of very large parked vehicles at high speed at that time in the morning !
I also didn't say he was drunk but stated that I see it all the time here on Samui.
I am also writing about a German that has killed a young Thai lady due to his actions and not hers !
My condolences go to the Thai family !

People still bother with TV? Hook your computer or laptop to a big screen via HDMI cable and watched your downloaded stuff on a big screen with no problems!
Downloading is all fine and good until it comes to live sport. If you aren't interested in it, that's fine, but if you are, you still need a TV. No way round it or round True Visions... but g_d i wish there was a way!
2,000 odd baht a month is a silly amount to pay, but they have me by the short and curlies...
The PSI box has around 60 channels. A couple of English language ones. Mainly for the Thai soaps and news. I had the Platinum package with two boxes and it was just under 3000 a month. I watched the odd Hells kitchen and the F1 and that was it. I found it hard to justify it for so little viewing. Now I go watch the F1 in a bar with the 3000 I saved or download it the next day and watch it.

I'm with Submaniac on this one. i think they should promote the other resorts around the country as family friendly and promote Pattaya as the disney world for adults that it is. Don't try to make it anything other than what it is famous for.

I think now it is 120 pounds and 3 points on your license. Plus your insurance goes up as well by a LOT ! I could only ever drive what I did because most of the family was in the motor trade and I was always covered under a traders policy

I have absolutely no sympathy for the German but feel sorry for the Thai lady. I see it here all the time. Drunken Farang with a bar girl on the back riding like idiots.

Ah I remember the same situation many a time. How people here can moan about getting a pull from the BIB here when all it costs is a few hundred Baht is beyond me. Fast cars cost me a fortune back home in more ways than one
Sure that wasn't fast women?
Good lord no. Always preferred my women slow and my cars fast !
Always been a fast Ford man since getting my license.

It is Truevision. I can assure you with 100% certainty they will repeat it again, and again and again over the next month or so. it is why I cancelled mine.
I went out and bought a PSI box for 1000 baht for the wife to watch Thai TV and the 3000 Baht I save every month now keeps me in cold beers
-
I suppose the type of person to buy and wear an elastic shirt is the type to think they have a right to a refund even when they have failed to abide by any of the reasonable return policies

I must agree. A lot of them don't want to change especially the older ones. My wife's Grandparents still live they did 40 years ago. I offered to build them a small house and they refused as the one they had was perfectly adequate and they didn't need another.

I had to read this twice to make sure I wasn't reading it wrong. You fully understood their return policy yet did everything against it then seem to think you have the right to a refund.
You are trolling for sure !
You would get the same treatment anywhere not just here.

In the Uk killing someone with your car and even running away will get you a suspended sentence, fine and a driving ban. The family would get very little in the way of compensation. Rich or poor it is classed as a minor offence. The red bull heir doing the same thing in the Uk would have received the same treatment.
Here in Thailand if you are going to get run over and killed better it be by a rich man. My wifes friend from the Issan community near us who live in sheds with corrugated roofs was killed by a drunk driver hitting the motorbike she was on. The boyfriend driving the bike lost his leg and will never work again and they left a 2 year old little girl with nobody to take care of her.
The driver that killed her ran away and was caught. He had no money and got a pittance of a sentence. The little girl got nothing ! I am sure the little girl would rather the red bull heir had run down her Mum and not a penniless Somchai !

I had a bar. party every night. No TAT license ever
I think the guy needs to relocate to Samui where he can party till he drops and no 100,000 license needed
I can even get him a very nice party boat as well
-
What if he just starts a party business ? he doesn't own a boat and simply charters one when he needs one. maybe the odd beach party, pool party, boat party. That would be my way of doing it.
This side are now quite hot on the work permits for instructors etc There was even one in the jail here a few months ago.
Glad I'm now on retirement visa
-
thanks a lot, i think even same country embassy will works
If still in Penang then go see Jim at Jims place Chulia st, Georgetown. He sorted my friend out in the same situation or similar
-
Also, if he is just chartering the boat then surely the boat owner would be the one required to have the license ands not the person hiring the boat
-
Steve I have just phoned my friend who has a dive shop on Tao and asked and he just laughed. he said the same as me, maybe 4 - 5 on the island. I also called a Thai friend who has the biggest speed boat and jet ski business on the Samui and he said he will never give TAT 100,000 Baht for sticker. I have also just flicked through loads of dive school websites and can't find any sign of TAT or mention that they are TAT certified on any of them. As you say maybe it is different over that side but here it seems optional
-
It is a popular school. The reason the visa is so mentioned is because it is an important part of deciding to learn a new language. That takes time and having or being able to obtain a visa is important. They offer a free lesson I believe so instead of trying to run the school down go and try their method then come back when you can talk with some experience ?
And for me I would much rather learn from a fresh out of school teacher who is eager and keen rather than an old hand simply doing it for the money
-
Nowhere does the OP intimate he wants to start a party-boat business.
I got the impression he just wants to hire a boat for a private party he is putting on, which makes the TAT accreditation point moot.
That's the impression I have as well, I just wanted to point out that ThailandBert's post is simply not true.
I know of several boat businesses here on Samui and NONE have a TAT license. go to Koh Tao and I doubt you will find more than a couple of dive schools that have them and at last count I think there was 48. When my friend bought his party boat here he was told the same thing. He looked into it and as said he only needed it if he wanted to be TAT certified.
Maybe they do things different over that side !
Can you link to the law that states you need one ?
-
Someone tried the party boat thang before.. if that is what you want to do.? I would start with a TAT license.....
You only need a TAT license if you want to advertise the fact that you are TAT registered. MOst people don't. My friend that was running one here certainly didn't especially for 100,000 baht for the pleasure

Already well insured Roo its just the 1.5 million Baht for one she has trouble with
Back in the UK with the last wife I could just take her out one Friday. get her absolutely rat arsed and then simply go out and buy the new bike, car, speed boat etc and when she went ballistic I simply reminded her she had agreed to me buying it last Friday and as she could never remember I got away with it relatively unscathed.
Can't do that anymore as the Thai wife doesn't drink

Getting Sick Of Dogooders

Not many pick ups that are over 1 million Baht that I have seen. They also will be hocked up to the eyeballs and then some so can honestly play the poor Thai as they pay every Satang they earn for the truck.
I presume English isn't your first, second or third language ?![wink.png](//forum.thaivisa.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png)
