I'm not doubting that a certified car from Honda isn't a good car but for me personally I would always opt for the new car over a second hand one even at the cost of a few extras etc. Once you get to the 5 year mark that is when things start to need replacing.
Would I have a 5 year old Honda or a brand new Ranger top of the range 4 door 6 speed automatic and still have change to bling it up a little ?
But that is just me. Each to their own
-
I would suggest either finding the extra 400,000 to get a new one against a soon to be 5 year old model if a Honda is what you want or look to get a new car that is in the 1.150,000 Baht range. With new you get the full warranty and you know the cars history 100%. Just my 2 Satangs worth

Many ask where are the voices speaking out against these extremist groups. What happened to this young girl should help those asking to understand the relative silence.
That is the trouble they don't !
A cartoon is printed in a paper they have never read and there are riots, destruction and deaths around the world. The same goes for a badly made film that the majority of the people rioting around the world will never have seen yet a young child is shot in the head in the name of their so called God and apart from a few token protests in Pakistan nothing !
Millions of Muslims don't find this offensive enough to warrant a protest like the ones over a cartoon.
We are told that it is a small minority of extremists that do this and that the moderate Muslims do not agree with them. The trouble is we only ever hear and see the actions of the extremists. The moderate Muslims remain silent !
WHY ?

Are you sure it is street legal in the UK ? Some single stroke bikes aren't but I am unsure of yours.
Never heard of a single stroke bike before ? What is it ?

100k Baht for 7gm - something doesn't add up here.
Agreed 7gm is half baht weight (approx), current cost around 13,000 baht for standard necklace.
Bad reporting or price inflation from the victims ?
The only thing I can think is they mean 7 Baht in gold weight but that would make it more expensive
It is a nice round figure though for the insurance claim though

Where can I rent a car that I'm allowed to drive to the mainland and have a dog inside it?
And ThailandBert, please read the full add before you answer.. or read it again if you are forgetful.
Joe
I have just read and reread your original post and there is no mention of hiring a car anywhere but you asking if someone will drive you to BKK. Approx 50 km before BKK where you can get a taxi.
The title of the post also asks
Can You Drive Me And My Dog To Bangkok For 5000?
Not forgetful or stupid as I look

It simply needs to return to the original concept that was sold to the public. That of an open, free and common market. Everything other than this needs to be dropped. That includes the Euro.

Hi the State Railway of Thailand has a good website that is English friendly. it is here
http://www.thairailticket.com/esrt/Default.aspx?language=1
You may have to leave booking till a bit closer to the date though. You also have two choices. You can go to Chumphon and then get the high speed ferry to Samui via Koh Tao, KPG which takes about 4 hours with stops or you can travel further South to Surat Thani and then get the ferry direct to Samui which takes 1.5 hours.
If there are two of you traveling then if you book first class air you get a cabin to yourselves. 2nd class air is open cabin with a curtain, 3rd class fan is the same

I fail to see how you can claim with certainty that the guy ripped you off. As I see it you have no idea why the bike refused to start and are just taking the word of a Thai mechanic telling you it cost 4000 Baht to repair. it may have been fixed for 500 baht for all you know and the mechanic has had another easy touch from the Farang. Just put it down to experience and don't let it get to you. Just look around you and smile. Thats what I do when things annoy me
-
Your own estimates put the costs at around 7000 Baht. Then you are not going to do it in one day so an overnight is to be paid for. For someone to drive you there that wasn't going there would need 9- 10,000 I would imagine. There Is a pickup that runs up to Issan a few times a week from here but that is Thai style in the back all the way. As said there are many trucks heading from here leaving via the Raja ferry terminal in Lippa Noi. I'm sure a Thai driver would love to make some money on his way back to BKK
Good luck !

We had a good downpour yesterday afternoon on the West coast and this morning it is raining slightly. The sky around looks full of it. I have a happy garden this morning

Firstly it doesn't happen to me as I do not break the law. I have had staff pulled over and fined but unlike yours they have told me and I have paid it at the police station. As said the THAI I bought a bike off had to pay the same fines as you did. Where is the Farang only scam in that ? If you want to have a go at anyone here have a go at your staff for lying to you about being stopped and fined. They did this because they didn't want to pay the fine.
I repeat it isn't any robbery or scam but the law.
Believe it or not sometimes that is what the police do
UPHOLD IT

Is this for a new installation of power to a house or to replace an existing pole that is US ?
Does that price include the pole, wire and connection ?
Quote is 30,000b for new meter, put new 8m pole and take down 300m of cooper cable and move it to replace an old ali cable(200m)
Who owns the 300 meters of cable as that in itself is a lump of money ? Also same with the Ali.
100 meters of 50 mm copper has just cost me around the 260,000 Baht.

No robbery and absolutely nothing to do with the bike owner being a Farang.
Why is everything in Thailand a scam and when the police do their duty and fine people for breaking the law it is highway robbery ?
Your staff are the ones scamming you not the police.
When I bought my Virago from a Thai when we went to do the paperwork he also had to pay the outstanding fines he had , Cough,Cough, forgotten to pay.

If I remember right there is a monopoly on electric concrete poles. They can only be supplied by one manufacturer so they can basically charge what they want. I would go and have a chat with the maintenance boss at the electric depot in Nathon. When I was quoted a silly price to join some high voltage cable they sent a crew round and it was a fraction of the price I was quoted. The same goes when the transformer compound gets overgrown. They pop up, pull the fuses from the 3 phase power. chop the greenery and they get a drink.
How much were you quoted as I need to get them to come do the above so will ask.
-
Just my two Satangs worth here but wouldn't a post by Admin asking for people to fill in a survey for TV be a better way of going about this rather than using a pop up survey. Did TV OK the questions they proposed to ask on the survey ? I do several surveys for various companies and get put into a prize draw and have won several times. nothing major but a win never the less

Just pay the fine ! It is only a few hundred Baht and if he has gone to the trouble of writing a ticket you can bet he has entered it on the computer so when you go to tax the bike you will have to pay plus maybe a penalty. Is it really worth the hassle for a few hundred Baht ?

I had a test drive in one last month. Very nice. the 6 speed auto box is a delight and the motor for all it is only 2.2 is gutsy enough for what I want it to do. My next car / truck is going to be a Ranger.
Just got to persuade the Thai, Vigo loving wife now
