  1. This is a problem in London UK with e-bikes and scooters, several fires per week. Generally caused by cheap batteries and chargers. However, usually when charging, not on the road. My son has one, Chinese made, it is not allowed to be charged in our house, only outside. My wife and her family think I'm nuts, having seen this in London, I'm not. When the batteries catch fire it's almost impossible to extinguish.
  2. Not much information, I'm guessing the injured were in the back of the pickup.
  3. Certainly not very bright. However, if he believed these scum are powerful and would hurt his family, it is just about understandable seen from a Thai perspective. I doubt he is the only one that has/is suffering this abuse.
  4. These dogs are lethal, they have even mauled their owners in England, plus 9 or 10 innocent deaths to the public over the last two years. They are classed as a dangerous breed and need to be muzzled at all times in public. Any dog that attacks a human should be put down, no questions.
  5. I would imagine this is very worrying for the French authorities. For the first time the opening ceremony is taking place completely in the open, not in an enclosed stadium that is relatively easy to police. I believe about 6 kilometres of the Seine is being used as a floating platform for the athletes.
  6. Fair enough. Indeed you would think so, no actual speed info has been released, but I guess it could be up to 120 mph combined for a head on crash on an A road. I have also read that the car caught fire, again I'm not 100% on that either. The police seem to be keeping it quiet until they have all the info, which makes sense.
  7. Where did you get that info, as neither party has been accused of causing the accident. In fact police are looking for another vehicle and driver that may be responsible.
  8. They, together with the fisheries department, irresponsibly brought these fish in. CPL won't go bankrupt and even if they did, another company would take it over.
  9. I can only assume the rental companies modified the exhausts from the original shouldn't they also be forced to restore them to the original? If not the same noisy bikes are back on the street and the noise continues.
  10. Just like the Lionfish in the Caribbean these invasive Tilapia will be impossible to remove. Surely this is the responsibility of the importer, CP!
  11. Yes, dreadful isn't it. "a burglar broke into their communities and burgled six homes in one night"
  12. Surely it should be normal to carry lighting and be connected to a safety line.
  13. He didn't lose anything. It was stolen.
  14. Not all 12 year olds are that aware of these sort of predators and oddly may not have realised who she was sending the images to. The parents could have been more proactive regarding her Internet use and this would have been highlighted earlier. Fortunately, when they did realise what was going on they informed the police. Many parents don't, through shame or some other stupid reason.
  15. It doesn't does it? I have never understood why Thailand has these monetary fines as an option. 140k to 400k Baht fine, that's not a punishment. I suppose we need a safe way out for the wealthier Thai!! Also the creep will probably plead guilty and get half the sentence, so out in a few brief years, strange laws.
  16. Probably because she was terrified, maybe his father was too. It's very difficult to get away from these thugs and often the women end up murdered. I hope she finds safety in England or returns home to her Thai family.
  17. People mention Pattaya etc as worse, only 60 major cities were evaluated, Pattaya not being one of them. Also personal risk due to crime was very low as I would have expected. It was more to do with infrastructure, pollution, road safety etc, that is indeed poor. All in all, I feel very safe when in Bangkok, certainly more than when I'm in London.
  18. Exactly, I read the same article. I don't think they can re-criminalise it as there is just too much money involved and a lot of Thai big business is involved.
  19. Find me a son that wouldn't do the same. I hope he gets a very light sentence, if any.
  20. I never said the mother has no responsibility, however it is incomparable to that of the drunk driver. I agree they should enforce the law about kids on bikes along with many other things they let go.
  21. … and racist to boot. It's wrong, but since when is Muslim a race? Islamaphobic possibly but not racist.
  22. I don't see why. More like they are part of a group that deems itself above the law, a mini mafia.
  23. Technically the girl should not have been riding a motorbike. However, at the time of the incident she wasn't, she was at the side of the road. We all know kids ride bikes from a very young age here. It is often a the only form of transport the family have and vital in rural areas. It sounds like you're victim blaming here!
  24. The price probably doesn't help. People just don't have the money either.
