  1. That's something that should have been written in the contract.
  2. Pretty standard in most western countries, especially when kids are involved. I didn't realise it was normal here.
  3. An aggressive Tuk Tuk driver in Patong. Aren't they all?
  4. I doubt that this is restricted to Finland. I'm curious, how easy is it to get visas for these non existent jobs?
  5. True enough, but you need a fair bit of cash to do that apparently. Reading that the car registration and insurance had expired, it suggests that this idiot hasn't got that much. I hope he gets hammered.
  6. You only mention the UAE, that's a very small part of the middle east. Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen etc are certainly places where stolen cars were sold.
  7. Firstly it's not an accident, it's manslaughter. An accident can't be prevented, this clearly could by the car driver not drinking. All too common these incidents. I hope he gets stiff prison time.
  8. That's excellent information that I have certainly never thought about. Luckily now, my wife would know, but before we were married, probably nobody. It does indeed make the insurance useless.
  9. I have agree, that looks completely unsafe. Even if they used piling, as you say, any serious rain or movement from above and that is occupying land at the bottom of the mountain.
  10. Why not? It's not illegal to drive right hand drive cars in those countries. I drove an English car for about 2 years when I lived in Europe.
  11. Sadly, I think you'll find this in many cities/towns.
  12. I'm not so sure about now, but certainly in the past. Not everybody in some Middle Eastern countries are loaded, in fact there's a lot of inequality.
  13. Do the same as in the west, make the police actually enforce the law. Then force them to pay in small installments weekly. That way they would learn that the law applies to all. It would also cut down on the number of accidents. Sadly it will never happen.
  14. I think it was referring to departures as it would take longer to process the checking manually.
  15. First I've heard of stolen cars being resold here. Usually Europe or the Middle East. Good work from all involved to get them back.
  16. Forget international popularity for now. It hasn't even achieved local popularity, at least to my knowledge. That would be the first step in my opinion.
  17. This applies to all SE Asia countries as I'm sure you're aware. However, back to Thailand, I don't think the authorities care so long as people stay within the law here. Which is understandable really.
  18. How could the police not keep up?
  19. I'm not sure what you mean by unsavoury, that could cover a lot. However people that didn't meet the requirements for the non O 12 month variants have been using agents for years.
  20. That well known trustworthy online retailer source, Facebook!!! Use an online retailer with a good reputation. Also 499 Baht for a tool set? Just a bit too good to be true.
  21. I used to live on that road and there were accidents daily, invariably motorbikes. On bikes, assume everyone is out to kill you and ride on full alert. Also, an assumption, people that haven't experience of Thai roads and driving style need to ride even more defensively.
  22. Criticism grows? From one source that always objects to any change in alcohol sales. Even though it won't change the alcohol abuse statistics as most small Thai shops ignore the "no alcohol" hours anyhow.
  23. I fail to see how sales at the airport will boost tourism, it's just their standard statement when they want to pass a law. The scrapping of the afternoon 2-5 ban is an excellent idea.
  24. Towing without a trailer, what could possibly go wrong. Oops it caught fire.
  25. They didn't have the drugs until they arrived in Thailand and picked them up! They then tried to take them back to Hong Kong. That's when the Thai police arrested them. Hong Kong will probably extradite them. Everyone wins!
