  1. Pretty much. C stands for Control. A red line means the test was valid. T is test. No line, nothing detected. Black line at the T means antigen detected, i.e., positive.
  2. Have you seen all the medical waste that comes of ATK tests. I did one last week on day 6 after arrival. Look at the Ministry of Health videos of how to perform the tests with different brands. Then watch what the demonstrator does to discard the works: she used THREE big plastic bags. Mine was No. 11, the GSD NovaGen. Videos for each ATK test brand.
  3. Or after the 180, walk straight to the next pedestrian bridge, known locally as Saphan Carson, and turn left immediately.
  4. Went to W last night -- first time since they began using 12oz/330 ml thin paper cups for holding, uh, appropriate drinks. Never went back until last evening. In previous service phases, they had used rather nice thermal cups. Now they're using over-sized plastic cups that will easily hold a 620ml bottle, Not much better, frankly. Ice required. Anyway, the place was jammed at 7 pm, maybe at about 80% capacity. That's unusually early for a big crowd, except on Friday nights. I am guessing people gravitated to the W night market because it's a nice spot and you don't have to worry about being in enclosed pubs. For the 45 minutes or so I was there, I lost count of the number of very attractive Thai ladies wandering about. Lots of young males there, as per usual. And still a few "sage, older people." I was only there to check what they were serving the beer in, with a plan to tempt some friends to come on the weekend. Too bad about the plastic cups. I'm assuming the W has SHA approval. So why not use normal drinks glasses? Note: The Cheers bar was closed so i don't know if they can serve spirits.
  5. W District is a very relaxing place. Overall, it's just a nice place to be, insulated from traffic sounds and pub hubbub. Also there's no loud music. So people (lots of teachers) gather in groups and enjoy chats, food and drinks under the trees and awnings. As do us "sage, older people." They serve towers of draft beer, definitely cheaper than the single pints. As well as spirits served from the Cheers bar on the grounds. It's rather pricy but worth it, IMO. The toilets are nothing to write home about but a step up from the old On Nut Market's farm cowshed, with consequent odours. Maybe last night but I've seen some really attractive Thai ladies on a regular basis.
  6. I flew through Zurich yesterday Nov. 5. There were many Thais in the lineup for the Swiss Air flight to Bangkok. I'm going to estimate that the passenger list comprised some 60-70% Thai nationals, based on sightings in the pre-flight lounge and looking across the B777 cabin. Forgot something. The Swiss flight was delayed over half an hour to remove luggage of passengers who checked in but did not have certain documents, which I interpret to mean the COE or PCR test. The captain made the announcement over the PA.
  7. Same story in Canada. Never answer the phones or emails. But I got my pre-approval today, Oct. 29, after less than 48 hours. Not bad indeed. Uploaded ticket and hotel proof. What? Yet another approval stage? Flight late on Nov. 3. Processing the COE must be a headache for embassy staff. And such a struggle for travellers. I'd never wish the COE on anyone. I really can't see a whole lot of improvement coming with Thailand Pass either.
  8. Many thanks. Just did a test COE application. The COE does indeed have the quarantine exemption added to the dropdown menu on the first page of the COE app. It reads: Exemption from quarantine or 7-10-day quarantine.
  9. Yeah, I'm now thinking the same thing. The more pronouncements from the competing ministries, the muddier things get. Rhetorical question: How is it the aviation authority decides what the requirements are for foreigners?
  10. Hopefully, by early next week, the various ministries sing from the same song sheet. So frustrating and so little time left since I want to return in the first week of November. As I and others have found out, the COE application asks the applicant to choose either doing full quarantine or the Sandbox program. Nothing about quarantine exemption in the dropdown menu. So we can't even fill it out. And the COE is supposed to expire Nov., 1 except for those who are already approved. Wake up CAAT!
  11. Have a look at this head smacker from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand. It mentions in column 2, item 3. Certificate of Entry. Hasn't someone told the CAAT that Thailand Pass replaces the COE? Posted by Richard Barrow in the last couple of hours. Un-bloody-believable. https://twitter.com/RichardBarrow/status/1451885689490972672?s=20
  12. The translation and summary of the CCSA briefing Oct. 20 -- posted by Richard Barrow about 3 hours ago -- says absolutely nothing new. https://www.thainewsreports.com/2021/10/20/ccsa-english-briefing-on-wednesday-20th-october-2021/ Then Barrow just posted a fresh Thai PBS story quoting some fancy division within Dept of Disease Control: https://www.thaipbsworld.com/thailand-sets-out-seven-conditions-for-foreign-arrivals-without-quarantine/ Earlier someone posted something he got from a phone call to the Thai Embassy in London that says to expect something next week. LOL. And so much for the promise of a list of low-risk countries exempt from quarantine by Wednesday, as posted in the OP above: Just more puzzle pieces that don't fit any coherent plan. Now, what's Lalisa up to?
  13. I forgot to mention, you should already have a dummy Thai ID from the first shot: 600000xxxxxxx (13 digits). It ought to be on your appointment card for your second shot. You need this to log into your with new Mor Prom app. The hospital will have that number already recorded with MoPH. If you don't have it, I'm afraid you'll have to email them with your vitals or visit them personally to get the ID.
  14. See WaveHunter's post on page 84 of this thread. You should get a printout of MoPH record of vaccinations just like his, after your waiting period. The form will have your passport number, dummy Thai ID, vaccine type and lot number. Also download the Mor Prom app and install it before your second shot. It's mostly in Thai but it will be updated after your second shot and contain your complete vax record.
  15. It's MRT, Khlong Toie stop. I believe it's exit 2 but staff can tell you. It's a 5 minute walk to the huge hospital frontage on Rama 4.
  16. Agree. Just went through the Swamp on Oct. 5. Hardly anything left. It was a sad looking airport, compared to where I landed, namely the beautiful, well run, super-clean, largely open and active Incheon, South Korea. The Korean staff were very helpful and very friendly. One of the world's great airports - as noted by travellers voting in the Skytrax global rankings.
  17. I never thought the airport info line would work. But calling 02-132-1888 got me the info. Some duty free shops are open, with lights out at 0200 and some cafes are open, according to the knowledgeable lad answering the phone in very good English.
  18. Has anyone flown out of Suvarnabhumi recently? I have an international flight late tonight and am trying to guess how early I should be before departure. I assume traveller numbers are way down but maybe processing time has increased due to COVID test proof and such. 1. Is clearing immigration running reasonably smoothly? 2. Are some duty free shops open? 3. Some coffee shops and eateries open? Thanks.
  19. Thank you very much. So much prep and paperwork for international flights now that there was no room in my head for the subject of re-entry permits. This morning, it's COVID PCR test.
  20. I have an international flight late Tuesday evening and just remembered I never bought a re-entry permit for my retirement extension. Is Immigration still selling the permits at the passport control area? Any recent knowledge would be much appreciated.
  21. Just got an email yesterday from Toronto Public Health confirming my Thai vax record is now recorded in the Ontario Health system. I uploaded the Thai certificate with stamp and signature from the hospital, as well as a printout of the electronic Mor Prom certificate -- same info. They gave me a link to check the record. But, after several attempts, I found it's blocked -- likely because external foreign IPs are blocked for security purposes.
  22. And we thought Pattaya was overrun with traffic before the pandemic. Returning to live there is fading more and more into the distance. It's looking like general costs are going to go up as the fancy residences draw more people with money and flood the area with maybe even fancier restaurants and the often rumoured casinos. I mean, something big must be coming with building corporations betting billions of baht on such hotel and condo monstrosities. I am aware of a Thai hotel resort company that has plans and the land there. It's getting harder to think that these companies are building a future ghost town.
  23. Yup, closed. I and another poster did a separate test bookings on the site and were rejected.
  24. Seems hospitals are more flexible now. Remember, a few weeks ago every announcement of vaccinations was prefaced -- in bold capital letters -- that only those seeking first doses would be accepted. Anyway, it seems most everyone on this thread has been successful getting full vaccination. Today marks the end of my 14-day wait for reaching full immunity with AZ. Coincidentally, I got an email confirmation today that my Thai record of AZ vaccination has been successfully recorded by my Canadian provincial health system. This is for the purpose of a "vaccine passport" that's now mandatory. Back to Canada, without (hopefully) facing quarantine (called self-isolation, actually), next week. It's all up to a federal airport officer.
