I am not in Australia, I live in Thailand, I just need to get back under my Retirement Visa as many others do. I understand what is going on in the world that's not what this is about. It is about trying to see what avenues other may believe they know to raise awareness to the Thai government through numbers and voice.
Assume Elite Visa comes first.
I'm also stuck outside.

Plan to fly out?
Could you please point me to a case of an approved application?
I haven't heard of a single one.
I might be wrong but at this point virtually no one in the married group is making any plans to fly out.
Richard Barrow posted the link to a write up by a German guy who returned. Check his blog. Was last Sat/Sun

Plans are afoot for an airport screening of all arrivals for a check up that will take 1 and a half hours to get the results and will cost 3000 baht, other than that, can they really trust that some incommers will be virus free and ruin Thailand record of keeping the virus in check so far?...
Tests are snapshots. You still need quarantine. There are still many locked out who aren't tourists but own property in TH.

Another six to eight months of isolation? So they are going to sacrifice thousands of hotels, restaurants, bars, tuktuk and taxi drivers, travel agents and other tourist services? Surely the government can't be that harsh, not to mention stupid and senseless? Surely the travel agent spokesman is a complete fool? Oh wait, this is the (millionaire infested) government that slashed the 2021 state budget in half.
Which government cares? For sure not Hun Sen and Cco. They aren't affected

Persons who hold a valid certificate of residence
Has somebody more information about this? I have a NON-O visa. Can I ask the immigration for a certificate of residence, then travel to Europe and come back to Thailand using this certificate of residence? They mean PRs.

However you will have to stay in hospital (or hospital followed by a "quarantine" hotel linked to the hospital, many of them have set this up already) for the full 14 days, there is no getting around that nor the need for COVID tests: one before you travel, one on arrival and a third on day 13.
Acc to London embassy website you require a letter from a doctor in your country to say that the treatment can't be done in your home country and you need to get it done in TH. Ok if you come from Middle East.

Bangkok post said as follows:
"After the 14-day period, tours can be arranged for them to visit anywhere in Thailand," he said.
hope this is true...
Just called the embassy they told me to talk to a hospital and checkout their packages and then to contact the embassy again and they could arrange it for me. He couldn't tell me anything that would happen after the 2 weeks quarantine simply because Thailand did not tell the embassies anything yet.
I'm contemplating the medical route. What worries me is that I may be told the final test is positive just to keep me longer. I learnt to be suspicious when it comes to doctors, not just in TH. There is such a post on Tripadvisor. The guy went to Bumrungrad and got treated for C19 for an extended period because the test was pos. He found out later he was never pos.

They haven't mentioned the full frontal lobotomy, which they will obviously need in order to comply with the medical tourist visa requirement.
You can't jump through all the hoops. Need a doc in your country to confirm that e.g. Switzerland or where u come from cannot do the treatment/procedure. Needs inpatient treatment.

Where did you take these 30 days from? Nothing in the article.
They just talk about countries "deemed at low risk for Covid-19 by the World Health Organisation (WTO)."
Low risk doesn't mean virus free.
Which are those countries?

"But, I don't think Thais would like to travel abroad at this moment as they are not confident about hygiene standards out there,"
True , we have more infections in Europe like in Thailand , but Thais not being confident about hygiene in Europe ... tss how crazy does it get . But Thai people also think they are way smarter then foreigners , ...
Go to a supermarket or food shop anywhere in Europe. Watch how they handle unpacked food. I have the same rule in Europe as I have in any 3rd world country: don't eat what you can't cook or peel.
A tough one for me as it is now berry and apricot season where I am.

Why not require as Cambodia is DEPOSIT 3000$ on entry to cover Covid costs recoverable on departure
Do you trust Cambodia to return the money?
3000$ covers nothing in a private Thai hospital.

Is there any info how to go about getting medical entry permit? Hospital told me they are awaiting govt. info. Embassy has no info either.

This morning I had an e mail from one travel company with a 'leaked list' ( no proof given ) that Thailand will be one of the countries on the uk traffic light system as 'green'.
This would mean no need for the 14 day isolation on return.
Think I'd wait a while. ????????????????
It doesn't mention what would be the requirements Thailand may impose on UK visitors.
EU citizens can travel within the bloc with some exceptions.
Not all EU countries are open to UK travellers.

Nothing is going with non-O ME. Just had reply from Thai Embassy Vienna.

There are loads of retirees on retirement visas/extensions who comes and go all the time. Many doesn't stay here all year. That differs a bit from married retirees. I am retired in Thailand since years back but I stay put. That's imo what you do as a retiree.
Some ppl go on holiday outside Thailand. Even retirees do.

I've not applied yet, I plan to visit the embassy next Wednesday and get the ball going.
You should email this address: [email protected]
This was their reply:
Its crazy that I have to book my flight (are there flights?) and ASQ prior to application. And why do they need a fit to fly and COVID test at this stage?
I asked for clarification on these points and suggested that I send in documents pertaining to 1,2, 4, and 8 and get my application started, but I got no reply. So will visit in person I see what they say.
Anyway this is all I can show you. Happy to keep the forum updated as I get further down the process.
Crazy thing is that you need "fit to fly" i.e. neg. test to apply but you may need to wait for 10 days to get approval acc. to Thai website in Austria. By then the neg. test is no longer valid. Or do I get something wrong?
Just for info: They only issue B-visa, no other.

No doubt the anti democrats on here will be shouting for an extension for another 20 years, as they just can't accept democracy and how it works.
It is not about what he wants.
EU has to want the same.
WTO has a say as well.
Nobody forces him to trade with EU.

Problem is the borders never closed and the quarantine regulations were introduced far too late
There never was a genuine quarantine. It was self isolation.
You either acted responsibly or you didn't. Nobody checked what you did or not.

People in EU move sort of freely. Many are restricted were to and how they can move. Cov19 test is required for many holiday destinations in Europe. Most countries reintroduce prevention measures. Look at rising nos. in Europe and you will see the consequences of moving freely.
Repeat lockdowns in some cities.
