I have read on forums people buying diamond rings, and they use DHL and Fedex for shipping it. Its safe and fast.

Do you believe everything you read on a forum? Read the small print and you will know that neither DHL nor Fedex accept responsibility. They are no safer than Ems.

Not so much BFS was 920 last time I booked and a taxi from the rank cost 1500,Bangkokairport vip charge 2500 for fast track and a car to pattaya, of course you can do it very cheaply with the bell bus or the jomtien bus and no fast track.I am seriously considering using them but I need reassuring that the fast track is not jammed with Chinese.

I doubt it will be jammed with Chinese unless they all fly premium.

A lot more irritating than Chinese are mothers with unruly kids and a wheelchair pax accompanied by the tribe from the subcontinent who abuse the system.

    Thanks for your post.

No, I don't expect everything to be packed in plastic. And Thailand is just fine for me, I live here since two decades.

I am not an experienced buyer but I like to learn.

My point is that I think meet should be cooled. Some of the meet "on ice" in the fresh market is high up on that ice and sometimes in direct sunlight. I am concerned that meet maybe get's "too" hot. I know in other countries people think it's important that the meet (and milk, etc.) never gets too hot. Like out of the fridge, out in the heat, in the fridge again, is a bad idea - at least if the product is for too long out of the fridge.

And the problem with dirt should be obvious: If something dirty falls on the meet it might be full of bacteria. And the bacteria are transferred to the meet. Just cleaning it won't remove the bacteria. I guess with BBQ well done that is not so much a problem. But i.e. with a half raw steak I don't want too many of the wrong bacteria in that beef when I eat it.

Maybe many Thais have just a good immune system and they can handle this. Maybe I am too careful, this is why I ask here about other peoples experience.

I lived in Siem Reap/Cambodia for a number of years. In the late Nineties there was only a disgustingly dirty fresh market to get meat, veg, fruit. Most came from Thailand. Sometimes a locally raised  old buffalo was sold as beef.  We never got sick, all got well cooked. What I couldn't cook or peel, I didn't buy.

Klongtoey is hygienic in comparison to S.R. Old Market.

No bananas are grown where I come from. Australia grows bananas. Aussies seem to be slow learners if they need 14 years in medical school.

The end result is that no one will pay thousands to go to medical school for 7-10 years as  they won't make any money...oh wait, lemme guess....you are going to say that should be free as well.  Guess what?  If everything is free in your utopian world, no-one will do anything!    Rather than using limited personal experience from one case, do some real research and report back for peer analysis on a separate thread.  The feedback will be interesting.

Where on earth do you go to medical school for 10 years?

Besides overweight fatties who take up all the arm rests (if you ever had one sitting next to you), they should also have specific zones in planes, closed away from the other areas specially for those with babies and children.

I anticipate the reactions, but try  a 12 hour flight with 1, 2 or 3 babies or very young kids around, brawling all the way along.....

Agree with you. The hold would be a great place or a playground on the wings.??

I am not blaming the hospital that family members are not there.

I am saying that since the man is unconscious and the family are in another country, they should make frugal and fair decisions about how much care is necessary and how much is luxury care.

Where are they getting 400000 baht for a few days care. Let's see at a guess what  he needed

    1.an operation 100,000

    2.room 3000 a day. 2 weeks 60000.

    3.nurse care 800 a day.

    4. Doctors visit 2 per day 1600.

    5.blood tests and stuff 10000.

    6.brain scan 20000

    7.other stuff 50000.

Around 200000 baht and that's being extremely generous.

They are taking advantage of the weak and the maimed.

    Shameful.

You can still make money without cheating people.

You make up an estimate from your imagination. Or are you involved in this man's treatment? The staff is there to keep the guy alive if they can. If he doesn't make it, the family would most likely put the blame on  the hospital for not having done their utmost.

when the hospital sees a foreigner, all the fees and care needs quadruple. The families can't pay because of the corruption of care and prices within the hospital.

The man is unconscious and there are no family members to make financial decisions for him,the hospital admin choose the most expensive care available. Private rooms, private nurses, all manner of unnecessary blood tests, increased doctors visits at 800 baht a visit. They refuse to transfer the patient to cheaper care including within their own hospital, such as shared room. It's disgusting the way thai hospitals take advantage of seriously ill people and their families.

May be the guy is in a govt. hospital?  What do you know and we don't?

    Disgrace? Hmmm

I'm volunteering for an institution that helps people like the guy we're talking about. A German who's once a Euro millionaire made the huge mistake to marry a Thai girl he fell in love with.

The Thai girl then told him that she'd like to go and live in Thailand where her family lives, near Surin.

He married her, moved to Surin, bought a new house, 40 Rai of land, and was planning to build  a resort.

But he didn't know that the girl was involved in dubious drug business and she must have lost many millions of baht.

One day a Chinese mafiosi came by and told him that his wife had lost all land and the poor guy bought all land back for an unbelievable high price. Not long and she got arrested with drugs where he paid a huge sum to some people ( he thought cops) who'd told him that she wouldn't have to go to prison.

But she got arrested and soon afterwards he suffered a stroke. That was the time when I first met him. A guy with character, a former millionaire who's used to drive around in Rolls Royce only.

The same guy is now  physically and mentally a wrack. I hope nothing similar will ever happen to you. But I assume that you are not so stupid like so many others, right?

Never say never, you'll never know if/when you get sick, perhaps a hit and run, and if you don't have any more cash and it turns out that your Thai wife isn't really loving you, it could be a strange wake up call and change of mind.

And why did the excellent German social services not come to the guy's rescue?

I wonder how this guy became a millionaire. He didn't show any skill in keeping his money. When we squandered our assets we can always rely on gofundme.

Weight is just one guide. A 197cm guy might weigh 20kgs more than a short fat woman but be far thinner.

Are they getting the tape measure out?

With "oversized" I meant width not height. Sorry.

In fact a very tall person complained about the free 2 seats for a fatty. Why do very tall people not get extra legroom space for free?

I see nothing unfair in this. I do not fly Thai but if that is their policy, fine. Its their policy to make. If one does not like it, then do not fly with them. Easy. But I have to say that overweight people on the whole should have some respect for others. The facts are many overweight people are overweight due to greed, gluttony and laziness. I can not guarantee I am right, but I reckon the majority are self inflicted in being overweight. You don't see many obese people in poor countries, where food is scarce. I always feel sorry for anyone who has to sit next to some grossly overweight person, who can not be bothered to lose weight and expects others to put up with it. Squashed next to you, taking up your space, legs touching yours, arm rest taken...come one lets be real...its disgusting. Not sure people are that effected in business class as sets are separated. But in economy, it must be horrible for anyone who finds themselves in that situation. It is totally selfish and ignorant in my books. I am not prejudice, its what I think many of us feel. Lose weight and have some self respect.

If I have to travel more than one station on BTS I take a taxi. Many times tourists with large cases and bagpacks squeeze onto jampacked trains at commuter time. Same with baby strollers. They can afford to visit Thailand but can't afford a taxi to the airport.

'Quality tourists' coming to Thailand. Maybe they fed up with taxis rejecting and not using meter so they end up with BTS.

Never have a taxi problem. Nhave no sympathy for whinging tourists. And btw "quality tourists" use limo service not Bts or taxi.
