  1. Reading the comments is hilarious and truly shows how tinted the posters glasses are! Tourist couple having sex on the beach is okay but a tourist couple sleeping on the moat-wall in Chiang Mai and everybody gets bent out of shape and wants them thrown out of the country! I'm kind of thinking if the couple on the beach were identified as Chinese, the hanging squad would be out in force. What a bunch of hypocrites

  2. and these animals are running the country?

Don't think the several people who carried out this assault are running the country, any more than those who threw grenades that killed children were running it under the last government.

What will be pertinent is to see how this is handled.

Assault? you mean murder. The army are running the country and the army killed this kid.

  3. Where is the "No, of course not. It's not like taking away a DL suddenly makes you incapable of driving a vehicle and we know already know that many people either don't have one, won it in the lottery or shouldn't have gotten one in the first place, but that hasn't stopped people from driving. And because impounding will equal to not steep enough of a dent into the pocket, why bother because the lesson just won't stick. BUT....why don't you just ban alcohol sales on holidays, that sounds alot more sound and reasonable to the people in charge" option?

I don't think the idea of taking a license is supposed yo make people incapable of driving, that's ridiculous. But as a deterrent? Not if people don't have a license. But together with the vehicle being impounded (it should be crushed in my opinion) it might work. Add on a mandatory 30 days in prison like Sweden does then it might have an impact. Stop selling alcohol during holiday periods? No for three reasons. First and most obvious is the fact that people can buy alcohol a day before the holidays to keep at home. Two, you will be penalising responsible drinkers. Three, it will inpact tourism, who would want to go on holiday and not be able to enjoy a bottle of wine with their meal or not be able to go to a club for a dance and a bevvy?

  4. No robbery attempt?

I am sure we are getting less than half the story here.

People don't often get attacked with a knife at 4.30 am for no reason.

Russians and Aussies, most likely alcohol played a part in this.

Yes you're correct, people don't often get attacked with a knife for no reason. Most people don't make baseless comments either because they read the whole article. If you had taken the time to go to the article and read it you would have read this "Mr Lukin and Ms Obodova confronted the gang when they spotted the three teens rumaging through their belongings, which they had left on the sand while they took a dip in the sea"

  5. I wonder if he'd been there to help if it was a car full of dudes?

The point is he helped a tourist and that is to be commended. Stop trying to pull every decent act down

You don't know me yet make presumptions about me. I'm probably one of the least Thai bashing people in this forum. I would have asked the question in any country but there again, no other country I know of would make a headline about a person helping somebody else change a wheel. No other country I know of has lame-o expats living in it that would feel the need to jump all over a comment like I'd made in presumption I was commenting on the locals and not males in general on a banter basis. Get a life and stop necking Chang in your local village shop.

  6. "racy nightlife"?... Bars forced to close at 12pm, no alcohol if it's a birthday or Buddha day, police storming bars to check that tourists have passports on them, being forced to pee in a cup in the street, bars/clubs with the most disgusting toilets, hussled by skanks "where you come from handsome man", ladyboys mugging tourists, bouncers killing tourists...... pretty racy stuff... High end tourists will love it

I once rolled in from 8 months in Sandland & COULD NOT WAIT to get sleezy.

I grabbed 20,000 baht from an ATM and blew it in an afternoon....ON PURPOSE.

Had me a good old time!

Miami has cleaner beaches, but they don't have soapies nor Lolita's nor Nana nor Cowboy.

Yup done the same myself, in a variety of countries! But that doesn't attract high-end family tourism

  8. This bozo tells them he doesn't want to take a test now and then consents 15 days later and the police are okay with this. yet the police stop farangs in the street and make them piss in a cup - in the street - and there's no contesting this? This.. sums up Thailand's elite and the police's fawning attitudes to them These are the same people pulling the strings of the PM and it's junta and people here on TV still believe the result of the coup is preferable to the freely elected governments? Kill somebody? Got some wealth? Off you trot then. Sickening

  9. Goog to see this is being brought to the people to decide.

I only hope that if the majority decide to go with it that the minority do not dismiss the majorities wishes like they did in an earlier constitution that was also voted in by a majority.

I agree. When the majority votes, the minority have to accept that vote. Otherwise there would be coups and stuff... Oh wait...
