Price of 'Victory' same with Aleppo in Northern Syria - is it worth it ?
If so who gains?
the important thing is surely that ISIS do not gain?
-
A Pyrrhic victory is a victory that inflicts such a devastating toll on the victor that it is tantamount to defeat. Someone who wins a Pyrrhic victory has been victorious in some way; however, the heavy toll negates any sense of achievement or profit........
Pyrrhic victory
I've learnt something to day
He's just copied and pasted directly from wikipedia. You too can gain an education this way if your education failed you or if you wish, like ezzra, to appear smart

This Deputy Prime Minister MR Pridiyathorn Devakula, needs his head examined.
If he tells us that the tourists started flooding the country because of the lift of martial law, 4 days ago, and the future of the economy is all roses because of the government steps, he is either lying or hasn't got the brain to understand the real truth.
Hope we are not going back listening to government rhetorics without any substance.
For once, In could not agree more Costas. The guy talks about rebounding after 4 days without martial law and then says he "expects" high wealth tourists from USA etc... mad.

Incredible, judging by the look of total glee on the coper's face you'd think he'd personally rounded up Thailand's entire drug cartel, not some poor bloke trying to eke out a living growing some plants

Sticky rice - the number one cause of diabetes of people in the provinces.
I eat it often what is the problem is it the rice or is it cooked with lots of sugar?
It's the rice type.
Carbohydrates would all be converted into sugar upon digestion. Question is how much.
http://www.emaxhealth.com/1275/which-rice-best-people-diabetes
It's also down to how the carbs are delivered to the blood. Rice in general is bad (except brown rice) for diabetes, it's the second worst food after sugar. Rice delivers the carbs almost like a "carb-bomb) in one goe and really spikes blood sugar levels and then is done. It's why people are hungry again 30 minutes later after rice.

so they want to impeach 250 ministers from the previous administration for daring to want to amend the charter? Didn't the charter get scrapped when the autocrat overthrew the previous administration at the point of a gun? So scrapping and rebuilding = good. Amending = bad?

“I have seen road users jumping red lights many times, so I urge all road users to take photos of those who run the lights and send the pictures to the police.” I remember the nazis used to get people to grass up others including neighbours etc. Anyway.. So now Thailand, which has a paid police force wants it citiizens to the job for them for free..

So she found it and thought naaaa i dont want what is at first glance obviously supposed to be a bomb so left it on the sidewalk and just carried on with her junk collecting ???
No thought it might be worth reporting or concerned it might actually go off ? naaaa course not
Yup sounds about right for Thailand
shes lying, if you just found what looks like a bomb youd get the f out asap and normal people would warn others.
If someone did that in a country with responsible laws shed be in jail for a lot more than 15 days
Im calling it a bad taste Thai april fool joke
Ican see how you might have been fooled by the kitchen roll cardboard with nothing inside and would flap, seems like you're a bigger woman than the bird who found it

and so the witch hunts continue. They might stop when he has imprisoned all and any rivals he might have I guess?

As someone who was not even there, she has no idea what really happened.
Don't know if I can link to this, but it hits the nail on the head for these kind of articles:
you find comedy appropriate for this? You really are twisted

Thai men ... so much class and respect
What the hell is wrong with you? This sh*t happens all over the World, you never heard of Josef Fritzl? If you think only Thais can commit such sickness you need to go somewhere else with your hatred mush.

I read a post recently asking why western men like to live in Thailand. I guess the heifers in the photo is a good enough reason

Is it any wonder that many Thais think foreigners are a degenarate lot of nuts? Thailand sure gets the quality tourist.
Look also at the foreigner who threatened to throw his kid off a balcony....the drunken louts who spend their days in the bars and nights on the streets.....the bare chested brigade who parade around like peacocks here because they are nothing in their own countries? Endless stories here on a daily basis of drunken, fighting, insulting foreigners .
Unfortunately we are usually all lumped together with these idiots.
speak for yourself mate.

I'm not sure I believe this. Who on earth walks around with a 9mill in their pockets? I'm talking about visitors, not locals.. The he got so incensed he shot his mate in the stomach a few times and then in the back of the head? Then being the gunman that he is.. he turns the gun on himself and misses? Methinks this will turn out like the Samui shooting at Bar Solo. There wikll be others involved I reckon. If I'm wrong the <deleted>!???

" the prime minister would have more absolute power"... eh? How can you have 'more'? If you can have more it isn't absolute to start. Which it is.

The chap has already proven himself to be a liar, no coup... no designs on politics.. no wish to be PM etc and here he is, scrapping martial law to give himself ultimate power by removing the military from their power base? I have a question. Once section 44 is employed, will he be answerable even to the King? I seem to remember Thaksin's detractors accusing him of wanting to be more powerful than the King, has this bloke achieved that? I really hope HRH the King lives on for a good few years yet because his passing would really impact badly for Thailand's future right now.

"Listen up all you countries.. I'm using my immense power so smarten yourself up and give me back those routes or I'll section 44 all of you too"

"The latter indicated that Thai officials could punish those visitors the way they normally do other rule breakers." Gee, that's nice of them

Wowwww.....
....... a storm of complaints about the club.........
....... raged on both Facebook and Twitter.........
........reaching a new height at the weekend........
....... the launch of a new Facebook page titled “Boycott Nikki Beach Hotel ‘Phuket ......
Just give me a break! This whole story is NOT about the elephant and never was.
How many elephants are used everyday in Thailand to amuse guests and cash in?
Why then picking on Nikki Beach Hotel ‘Phuket?
Who REALLY launched the "Boycott Nikki Beach Hotel ‘Phuket" page?
Who REALLY wants to boycott Nikki Beach Hotel ‘Phuket?
This whole story is so pathetic...............
what do you care are do you work for Nikki beach club?

Interesting, I read all these articles about how bad Martial Law is by people in Thailand and many of the other Countries who do not have a clue about how bad corruption had gotten, still is, in Thailand.
I for one do not have any problem with Martial Law, but then I do not do anything wrong or against the law !!
It will take at least two or more years of weeding out the corruption, Hell it even goes to the top levels of the Police and Government Officials, according to what I read and my wife tells me is on the TV.
Another thing, I do not know the General/PM and therefore have no opinion about him, but a lot of the posting are by people who think they know almost everything about anything.
I don't know you but reading your comment has given me an opinion of you.
