  1. Disagree.

They can be fluent for the words that they know....ie....100% fluent ....mine were, particulalry my son at 2yo.

Fluent does not mean you have to know every word of the language...if that was the case nobody would be.

Then it would be fluent for a given age, No child would be considered fluent in any language at that age. Your son may be very gifted but there is no way he was fluent in any languages (other than baby speak) at age 2.

He was fluent for all the words he knew at that age...so he was 100% fluent.

So he was 100% fluent in a few words of baby speak. That doesn't equal fluency in any known language.

But if it makes you happy to think so...

If it makes you happy to think you are superior to a 2yo...go for it

  2. My scariest moment happened in broad daylight, rush hour, on Sukhumvit in Bangkok. My wife and I were seated in the back seat of a taxi, when we noticed a policeman (in full uniform) walking down the middle of the street with his gun drawn. He was drunk beyond belief. He was approachng cars, pointing his gun and demanding money from drivers and passengers. We watched horrified as he approached our taxi. He leaned in the drivers window and waved the gun around at all of us. The driver wai'ed to him repeatedly and tried to hand him all his money....but he was so drunk he didn't even acknowledge him. He started aiming at my head and speaking some drunken rambling that neither myself or my Thai wife could decipher.I keep my money in my shirt pocket, and withdrew (slowly and carefully) several thousand baht and held it out for him. He was so drunk he didn't even notice it. He then asked the driver where I was from, as if meeting a guest at a party or something...the driver told him I was from America...the crazy drunken cop then spoke some more words we could not understand, withdrew his gun and his body from the car and continued stumbling down the middle of the street.

What could I or anyone do? No news reports of this incident(witnessed by hundreds of people)...nothing.

    Very scary indeed.

Run him over and park the car on top of him.

  3. To get back on track, perhaps someone could enlighten me as to how I can leverage in Thailand?

Suppose I bought a condo for 3 million, our real esate experts tell me its now worth 6 million, to me thats 3 million of "dead money", why cant I leverage the appreciation to buy a new 3 million baht condo, thus freeing up my capital?

Where are these real estate experts ??

So I take it you've met his wife and know all this. The Thai people I know are all good with money. I've never met a Thai that has a gambling problem. My gf, for example, doesn't even buy lottery tickets. There is no way she'd gamble away the money she has after working so hard for it. Sounds like you hang out with very lo-so people. Trying getting out and about a bit more and meet some real Thais.

Go look inside any of the illegal gambling dens or the casinos just across the border....many not so loso in them.

  4. Splendid....a bunch of anonymous nicknames bragging on internet how much money they have to equally

    anonymous & irrelevant audience.

Show your pic or shut up

Hey theblether! You got one on your hook!! biggrin.png

What does a pic have to do with it ?

    I own 4 pushbikes...wanna see my pic ?

  5. I was down and out in Thailand once through alcoholism. I've also been in a similar situation in Scotland, but not as down.

Thailand is much easier to survive and the people here are so very compassionate. Ironically, it was tourists and many exapats who never held out a helping hand. They are somehow repulsed that a fellow whitey could fall on hard times - why the hell not? Most people that fall are mentally sick - I try to treat them in the same way I would those with heart disease, cancer or AIDS.

I remember I used to hang out around Sukhumvit soi 7 in the mid/late 90's and couldn't believe the way some of the sexpats there treated farang begging for money. I have my theories as to why - they feel very disgusted or embarrassed or inadequate with a very low self-esteem so love to point the finger at others who are worse, giving them a feeling of contentment. What is worse - a sick person looking for food or some 60 year old guy with take-away prostitute from the soi 7 beer bar spitting on him saying that he gives farang a bad reputation?

    Might have seen you there.

Probably did not give you any money though...sorry about that.

How did you turn it around from such a low level and why did you not go home...wherever that is where they most likely have assistance for someone in that situation ? ...I know you will say no money for plane lide...but you should have been able to get enough to do just that if you were determined enough.

Or washed windows on asoke intersection for example....

Sorry...just read the alcoholism bit again...so doubt you would have been able to save any dosh for an airfare.

  6. Made a command decision today after flying my sons plane that he built in a school project....to build our own better one...a classy one, strong and one that can withstand the level of crash like what happened today when I broke it little bit.

Anyone built one....not the plastic kits you can buy all ready and rarin to go....but a balsa wood type one that has to be crafted......and buy whatever parts required online and ship here.....or buy here if available.

    Anyone ??

    Where to start...

  7. Lets be honest about Thailand.

You either come here for work, tourism or more commonly nowdays; very cheap street sex and buying a poor provincial wife. They cant get a woman back home so they come here with their prescription meds ,welfare cheques and naivety and away they go.

Any farang who thinks that girls would lose a minutes sleep over a dead ex farang sponsor obviously doesnt live here.

There are dozens of flights landing at BKK airport daily with thousands of newbie farang sex tourists just gagging to be scammed by girls.

Another day is another farang prospect to these Thai girls.

A dead farang is the same as a poor one......useless. Send it home.

I don't fit any of those reasons. So why would I be here.

I dont know the answer to that question. Why are you here? Are you a monk ?

Your a saints supporter so maybe you are a monk ... lol I'm a demon dont get me started on them , they actually threw games to gain draft picks ?

why? they were so hopeless back then they could of lost all their games trying.

Well at least your not a pie so you have some credibiltythumbsup.gif

When did Colonel Sanders become a saint ?

  8. I don't understand why we have a 'prostitution image' - In Thailand regular bars offer an innocent drink with a bar-fine imposed for bad behavior; massage parlors offer regular massage with a tip for happy endings. Then we have go-go dancers wrapped round poles who offer private dance lessons for a learning fee or ping pong shows where the cast offer private tution for a coaching fee.

In case your still alone - caring Thai girls will bump into you or catch your eye : At airports, railway stations, shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, Uni's, street corners and even in hospitals & outside some schools. Sometimes parents will approach you to offer their girls or brothers to offer their sisters. I don't include everyone but just a noticeable chunk of our people. The gentle no-pawblem, can-do style will chase you everywhere. It leaves many men freaked-out and smiling at our Amazing Lieland.

Now, I wonder why a 'land of smiles' would have a 'prostitution image' pawblem; especially when prostitution is illegal in our country.

    You forgot the nannies.
