    Hi,

Here at Prachuap I.O, the rules are 12 x 65,000thb. On arrival at the office for renewal of extension, you have to submit a recently updated bank book, a  1-year bank statement,  (showing 12 monthly incoming credits of 65,000thb or more), and a payment advice note showing that the payments have been internationally received and also the relevant forms and photos. With Bangkok  Bank, you have to give 7 days' notice for these documents, but I believe other Thai banks will do them quicker. I am also sure other I.O's and offices have different rules, but this seems the norm here for over 3 years.

I get around the 7 days notice problem by getting a BB statement from their head office after about nine months and nearer the time a printout of the remaining transfers… BB will issue an up to six months printout on the day

Nonthaburi always ask to see 13 months of transfers.

Also get the printout showing the monthly transfers are international.

Then on the day update bank book and copy of that page plus the bank letter saying it is my account etc

Been doing it that way for a few years now

When my Thai wife came to live with me in England in 20 years ago, my UK High Street bank wouldn't allow me to open a joint account with her unless she could provide Utility Bills in her name and of course no bank account = no utility bill, catch 22.

    So it's not something new.

Twenty years ago I didn’t have any problem making my current account with the Royal Bank of Scotland to be a joint one with MrsJ.

After we came to live here full time I wanted to do the same with another account, that did require quite a bit of verification and a complete pain….

I would wet rub that with 1500 then using a buffing machine polish it with 3M Finesse.

Wet sanding requires quite a level of skill, especially if you don’t know how thick the clear coat is. You have the area to practice on though … let us know how you get on … can always respray .. ????

O … that does not look good. So what vehicle, how old and is it a respray. I very much doubt that you will make much improvement without an orbital polisher and even then……is most of the car like that.

The guy up the road has an old Merc. Had it resprayed a few years ago. It looked good… now all still looks good except the boot lid which looks a lot like your roof. I tried a little polishing compound on it by hand … no improvement at all ….

I know that he didn’t put a wax or anything to protect the surface very often, if ever… could be where he parks the car that the boot lid catches the sun a lot…

  5. I know, in the past, people have been asking where they can get a good English Breakfast.

Well we have recently found a restaurant called ‘Good Thingz Happen’ and it is on the border of Bangkok and Nonthaburi. GPS 13.86997 100.55432. And we think that their breakfast offers are not only fair priced but really tasty.

We have also eaten there a couple of times and the food was good, the staff so pleasant and helpful. And of course the place is nice inside. Car parking is at the restaurant. Only drawback is it doesn't open until 10am and does not include coffee.

You can look up their website … name as above no spaces …

Attached are couple of pics from their All Day menu. The pork burger is amazing. I’m told that

we now should ‘make’ breakfast there three times a week ####

Your fluid is dark because it is carrying suspended debris (tiny particles of friction material and rubber from seals).  ATF does wear out. It oxidises and the various additives degrade or evaporate.

There is a theory the the detergents aNd dispersants in new fluid will disturb varnish and debris in an old gearbox. However in many years of dealing with automatic transmissions I have never known fresh fluid to harm a box that wan't already on its last legs.  Problem is a customer will bring in a car that's playing up and ask for a fluid change in the hope that its a cheap fix.  A month later the box dies completely and the customer blames the new fluid for 'making it worse'.

For your gearbox I would suggest Valvolene 'High Mileage' Dexron ATF - its available in TH.  It has additives to soften seals and less detergent than standard Dexron fluid.

The gearbox holds 7 litres but you will only drain 3 litres.  So do a drain and refill. Then drive the car few km.  Then do another drain and refill. You will have changed 75% of fluid.

Level is checked with fluid hot and engine running on level ground. Move selector through all positions. Return to P. Check fluid level. Don't overfil.

On some cars it’s very important to change the filter at the same time. Years ago garage ruined the auto on my wife’s Mazda Lantis by not doing so.

Possible, but not how it was explained to us. Wanted all the same retirement bank info and stated, wrongly, that the bank would grant it to a third party. And since we did not take pictures during the hospital stay (had no idea such evidence may be of value) we probably can't get a medial extension anyway.

Anyone can add money to your account 'on the day' to update the bank book. With luck Imm will accept stamped copies of the pages of your bank book. But you have the hospital Bills.
