1. I ask on behalf of my Thai ex-wife in Phuket. She owns a small hotel, and uses the online immigration registration system to register the details of foreigners who stay at her hotel. But she also owns a house in Ao Nang, which is usually rented to Thai citizens. Now a foreigner has rented the house. I am sure that she cannot report these details online for her Phuket hotel - she will need to register her house to create a new online immigration account for that property. Does anyone have a link where she can register her property, and then report the foreigner's details? Thanks.
2. Because it is your loss, not theirs, and they therefore don't give a FF about your problem...
3. Thank heavens I hate football! ???? (I watched a rerun of Father Ted on YouTube instead)
4. Update: April has got back to me this morning and I can now book an MRI appointment at Bumrungrad ????
5. And that was just 3 days ago. I'm waiting for the go-ahead from April.
6. I haven't asked about the costs because apart from my $500 annual excess, I'm 100% covered for all costs. My annual premium for the 'Essentials' policy with April is about $2,600 at age 63 years. That's with no pre-existing conditions or exclusions.
7. Yes, April Global, thanks for clarifying Sheryl.
8.
... Two monkeys were reportedly causing chaos in residential areas, disturbing villagers, making noise, causing property damage, and more.
LoL, sounds like a typical British, French, Russian etc tourist! It's the monkey house for them then!
9. Yes the 'expat' version, not the Thai version.
10. Come to my place on kpn ????. It's in the middle of a coconut plantation and I blast out Isaan music every night!
11. By the way, I wanted to comment on the excellent service provided so far by Dr Viroj and the international insurance department at Bumrungrad Hospital. Although I have an excellent 'expat' insurance policy, I was very concerned that I would either be required to pay 'up-front' for the major costs and claim back later, or I would have to do that for all the initial investigation tests (MRI, biopsy etc). I explained to their insurance department that my parlous financial situation as a poor teacher with 3 ex-wives meant that it would be a big problem for me if I had to pay out and then claim back. Both doctor and insurance officer were very understanding and agreed to request April Insurance to agree for direct billing of 'the lot' >> all pre-operation tests/investigation costs, rather than for me to pay and then claim back. Dr Viroj specifically wrote on his report to April that surgery/inpatient treatment would be needed, and therefore pre-authorisation for all MRI/biopsy work etc should be given by April. (I hope April agree to this!). Anyway, I was very happy with their attitude. They even had my registration details from 15 years ago (advanced pneumonia), when all other private hospitals that I visited in Thailand seem to 'lose' my details after 5 years!
12.
.. If after an MRI and a biopsy you find that you really have cancer it may not be a high Gleason score and may only need active surveillance and having cancer is not a sentence as I have found out.
Active surveillance is probably not an option because my PSA was high (6) but stable at that number for the past 10 years (high value maybe due to my enlarged prostate - BPH). But now my PSA number has 'taken off', rising from 11.2 some 8 weeks ago to 14.5 last week. So it's not going in a good direction ????
13. From what I have read (many citations), the ED and incontinence can be temporary. It seems to depend on your own level of health and fitness. I consider myself fit and healthy for my age (63 years old, 66Kg 50 bpm resting heart rate). The ED makes no difference to me - I went off sex after my 3rd divorce.. The effects of urinary incontinence on your life will depend on your own circumstances. I live alone and teach online, I can't see a big deal about this TBH. Of course YMMV ????
14. Yes, the multi-armed robot would be used in my case ????
15. Yes, I have been considering all options. TBH, because of my BPH, which reduces my pee stream to a dribble (if I'm lucky), I'd rather have my prostate removed, thus solving both the BPH and cancer problems. I'm aware of the effects of having no prostate (ED and temporary incontinence), but my wedding tackle has all but rusted up years ago through lack of use......
16. Update: I had my consultation with Dr Viroj at Bumrungrad today. Despite a recent negative DRE at another well-known private hospital in 'Bangkok', Dr Viroj was able to feel a small growth inside my prostate. That's encouraging (because with my high PSA I have already assumed that there is a growth..). Next step is an MRI to more accurately locate that growth and then decide how to 'kill' the blighter.
17. The DRE is no issue. 30 seconds of his finger up your bum to feel your prostate. I guess it could be uncomfortable if you tense up. I just imagine it's my favourite bar girl ????
18. Hi, the UTI is dead and buried, sorted out by the antibiotics. But with no UTI, my PSA is even higher (14.5). My PSA of 6 was stable at that value for perhaps 15 years, attributed to my enlarged prostate. I have an initial consultation with Dr Viroj on Monday at Bumrungrad (I've just arrived this evening in Bangkok from Koh Phangan).
19. Even 25 years ago in the UK, I was paid the equivalent of $142,000 annual salary as a 'techie' guy (mobile telecoms/software).
20. After some careful thought, I will take the passenger ferry to Samui tomorrow morning, but rather than go to Bangkok Samui Hospital, I will then fly up to Bangkok. Sheryl, I would appreciate your advice as to which doctor to consult (as you know, I have April Essential Insurance, so am only out of pocket for the first $500).
21. Thanks! My plan is to visit Bangkok Samui on Saturday for a consultation, then go to Bangkok City early next week. Sheryl, I don't think April Insurance covers for treatment at Bungrungrad (I know you also have this insurance policy). What doctor/hospital do you suggest?
22. Sheryl, I plan to have the initial investigation work (scan etc) in Samui. If treatment is required, which sounds likely, then I will come and stay in Bangkok. April Insurance has already confirmed that all investigation/treatment costs are covered and will be paid directly by them etc. Out of interest, why do you urge me to come to Bangkok?
23. Update: After my PSA value of about 11.2 some weeks ago, a UTI was found. The DRE was normal, inasmuch as can be felt with a finger. My doctor therefore prescribed antibiotics to sort out the UTI. This has now all cleared up and so I had another PSA test a few days ago which indicated a value of 14.6. This is not good news.... I am currently on Koh Phangan, but have booked to see the urology specialist at Bangkok Samui hospital this Saturday.
24. Rocket scientist (I designed antennas and various systems for rockets, weather and TV satellites, guided missiles...)
25. After 20 years here, I feel that I have assimilated quite well. I studied Thai Culture up to MA level at Chula, and feel that I've got a good understanding of the culture, people day-to-day living etc. I speak, read and write Thai to a good level. That being said, I tend to avoid unnecessary communication/contact with Thai people. But I do the same with foreigners.... ????
