It should be a condition when one hires a car or motorbike in Thailand that the vehicle rental company/individual provides full and adequate insurance for the vehicle and the driver/pasengers. Of course it will add to the cost, but so be it.
Agreed. When renting the motorcycle you should be made to take out insurance. If the insurance costs more than the bike rental too bad that's just the way it is.
Additionally, no license no rental, and don't forget your helmet.
You maybe on holidays, but accidents waiting to happen are not.

If the OP's question was directed at my wife, I would say Listening.
She should learn to listen to all my statement or question before telling me I'm wrong.

If they cry, just beat them until they learn better.
When I was a young kid I can always remember my mother saying "If your going to cry I'll give you something to cry about".
That usually was enough to shut me up.

Some of the airlines in the west should do this, it would cut their passenger list in half. Then maybe you could get some service for the lazy buggers.

The David Copperfield's of Thailand. They can make strange items appear, and quickly make (paper like) items disappear. A well polished act.

She got one free don't you know.
Yes you sometimes get a free helmet with a new motorcycle, but some of the free helmets are about as good as putting an empty ice cream bucket on your head.
How much is your head worth ?

Take her helmet shopping first.

So the locals and the rock all missed out on a happy ending.

Well on the positive side, at least this scammer put some effort into his scam. I prefer to see this than someone just setting up a "GoFundMe" page to scam people.

"The pot calling the kettle black".
Old sayings really do have a meaningful reference.

Many Thai ladies find it hard to tell their husband that they are going to visit (service) their other husband, so they won't give too many details.

Thais and lottery numbers, this is one area where Thais really do excel at putting in hard work to find the winning number. Unfortunately most are no good at it.

I like that they are trying first for the class of Visa extension "we're dead if we go home".
If that fails a few years in the Gulag won't hurt.

will not only be arrested but have all their wealth confiscated by the authorities, he said.
Looks like the government is going to miss out big time here with the farang, in many cases the wife / GF has already collected the lions share of the wealth.

Just tell your GF that you have not decided who your will leave your house to when you die. Maybe her service will improve.

OP, sounds like your "friend" needs to start a GoFundMe page. This appears to be the solution for most situations.
May end up being win, win for both of them.

Well if anyone was to know their Amulets, it should be a Monk.
Just maybe you might get a good deal. If not at least it will be a good story you will get.

I think it is just one Thai (Isaan) girl telling other Isaan girls that if you marry a farang and move to faranglang, don't expect your name to change to Meghan Markle. That jobs already been take.

The old saying "Like a bull in a china shop" comes to mind, not really used in reference to road safety and driving. But in the case of Thailand it does apply to the Thai driving style.

Uninsured Brit seriously injured and stranded in hospital after motorbike accident in Hua Hin

Based on the number of GoFundMe pages set up for tourists having accidents it would appear that many tourists and their families also have empty pockets.
