  1. Just wanted everyone to know that i did get a double entry tourist visa smile.png Everything went really smoothly! Thanks for the help!

Btw, so I dont have to start another thread. After I spent my first 2-3 months on my first entry, and then I might go back to Sweden. Within what time do I have to use my second entry so it doesn't expire?

There is a date on the visa ------------it says "enter before" once that date is past the visa is of no use .

  2. Just make sure you walk away from the surgery with handfuls of antibiotics and pain killers. No point in suffering unnecessarily. And don't expect to be able to work (or even think straight) for at least a week.

    You're a real comfort, aren't you?

Should I have said "don't worry, there'll be no pain and no risk of infection"? "Everything will be hunky-dory"? "Life will be just grand"?

I've experienced this and I spent a small fortune to have the procedure done privately in Harley Street in London. I remain grateful for the vast quantities of drugs and antibiotics I was given to help me through the next week. It was still a profoundly unpleasant experience.

I could lie and be a "real comfort", or I could be honest and tell the OP that this is going to be difficult and get your self doped up to the gills to get through it. It may be trite, but sometimes honesty is the best policy.

Harley Street is inhabited by "scammers" who can afford to pay the rent ! They can afford the rent as a result of the exorbitant fees extracted from the gullible !

Not a good place to find a medical or dental adviser !

  3. I won't go into the reasons why, but we used the services of a Vientiane visa agent before and it was worth it.This time, we used them again and were totally ripped off. They have zero influence in the embassy. Don't use them. They are a total waste of money.

Also, they are clamping down on Philippine applicants now and won't give them a double entry tourist visa. A single entry was all they would give my sister in law.

I just wish we had gone to Savannakhet. Not such a nice city, but the consulate gives you an easier time. Unless that has changed since last year.

I would be interesting to know how many back to back visas the sister in law had in her passport before being refused

  4. There was a person asking about visa/work-permits on one of the other Forums. He claimed to have been offered a job teaching English to Thai children

He was asked if he possessed a Degree or Diploma. He answered to say he had a NVQ Level One in painting and decorating which was the equivalent of a Diploma !

With such talent being available to Thai Schools you qualified people will never secure a pay rise !

  5. In that case a more complete CBC is in order, including reticulocytes, MCV, MHV. You need a repeat anyhow since last value was low and its been about 2 months more.

What doctor did you see and how selected? (Can't say what I am seeing impressing me much re the quality if medical advice given. This should have been done in Niovember when the low hct was noted. )

I had taken my MIL to an early morning doctors appointment with her ortho. I figured since I hadn't eaten it would be a good time to get a blood test. I walked across the street to a GP would be a good time to ggo exercise. practice and saw the Dr and requested a full blood work up excluding PSA. In Ubon. He pointed out two things the sugar and the hct. The sugar concerned me as well as the liver tests. I didn't understand the hct. Truth be told I was feeling good then. It wasn't until after returning to work and losing my job that I really felt bad. I realize some of it is emotional. ive had a lot of ups and downs in my life and I've always handled them well. But Ifeel to tired to do much now.

As suggested maybe you should make an appointment with a hospital based Consultant Physician a "walk in" GP was not a good choice !

From the results you have posted nothing is seriously amiss but I am sure you need some good advice and reassurance.

If you can say where you are based in Thailand someone may be able to offer suggestions as to where you should seek advice.

    Edit

Whoops.......... Just noticed you are in Ubon ! Perhaps someone will make a recommendation based on that information

  6. Talking the family to the uk is a terrible option. For a start they will need a uk visa just to get there.

As your son is Irish then like you he can travel freely to the UK. You don't even need passports, just photo ID showing you are Irish citizens.

As your wife is the wife of an EEA national then she can get a free EEA family permit to enter the UK; provided she is travelling with or to join you. Unless you are a dual Irish/British national.

The latest figures (November) show that 88% of EEA family permits in Dublin were issued within 3 working days, 98% within 5 working days and 100% within 10 working days.

That sounds like good solid advice.

I wonder if you are also able to advise the OP how he/his wife apply and what paperwork is required ?

  7. Sorry I will not attempt to interpret your "results".

If you are feeling unwell you should consult a physician and not indulge in random "testing"

I believe I could have explained myself better. Sorry!

I went to the hospital and saw a doctor. He ordered the tests. They have emailed the results to me and I'm scheduled for my follow up next week.

I've been under a great deal of stress recently. Normally I handle stress very well. I've got family issues and have lost my position at my company so I need to move to another country. I am applying for other positions in my company and could possibly get an interview very soon. I need to study new material and be at the top of my game and realize now after three weeks of trying that I'm not so I went to the hospital in an attempt to understand what is going on and hopefully improve it rapidly.

I have replied to your PM

    Best wishes

  8. "So I went to Phuket Immigration office in Phuket Town today and they were unfriendly as usual."

Interpretation smile.png....................... I did not get what I wanted because I did not qualify therefore I will bad mouth "immigration" !

The advise given was clear " To get one based upon a Thai child you will need their birth certificate, house book and proof of legal parenthood by way of marriage or legitimization."

Some clearly enjoy digging holes for themselves !clap2.gif

  9. Has anybody had success using it for migraine headaches? That's what I really need help with getting some pain relief. A friend of mine was using it for back pain caused by an accident and swore Tramadol gave him no help whatsoever. I guess it just doesn't work for some people or some types of pain?

    See http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16324164

It does work for some people, but the only way to find out is to try.

Personally I have found it effective for pretty severe pain, e.g. I was able to switch from an IV opiate to oral tramadol within the first 24 hours following surgery and get full relief of incisional pain. But people do vary in their response. In particular I find that people who have been taking opiates for any length of time often say it does not help. Don't know whether this is because the tolerance they have developed to opiates affects their sensitivity to tramadol as well, or whether they are missing the euphoric sense that opiates provide (which tramadol generally does not), or what.

Have you tried triptans? (have to be taken at first sign of onset). As unlike general pain killers these are specific to migraine.

If your migraines are frequent you would also do well to consider preventive medication.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have found much conflicting information about this drug, and I've been afraid to take it because of possible bad side effects - seizures, dependence, etc.

Migraines are something that has just started for me in the past couple of years. Fortunately, they're not frequent, so I haven't done much research into available medicine (like triptans) but since Tramadol seems so easy to get and inexpensive, I thought it was worth asking the TV forum members.

My friend who said that Tramadol didn't do anything to help with the pain of his back injury, is an older man who does not use any opiates, so I guess it's a type of drug that just doesn't work for some people.

I haven't read all the posts here, but there doesn't seem to be anybody here reporting bad side effects from this stuff, so I'll give it a go the next time one of those nasty migraines hits me.

Tramadol is NOT a first line treatment for "migraine "

If suffering recurrent bad headaches the first port of call should be medical advice !

Self medication is always a bad idea.

  10. Does anyone else here think it's ridiculous how hard it is to get my son his god and Buddha given right to his citizenship ? sad.png

Thanks guys for all the help so far.

Not "Ridiculous" more a fact of life .smile.png

Your son is not being denied any "Right"

If you think that Thailand should have an Embassy in Ireland then you had better take that issue up with the Irish and Thai governments.
