  1. What happened to big chief Tutu and he would end corruption? Didn't it work out like he said?
  2. Some people just can not say "No". That's not a reason to scam them. Thailand or elsewhere in the world. You input in this thread is pityful at the best.
  3. Chuwit, alias Don Quichotte, get as soon as possible out of Thailand. Your days are numbered now ....
  4. Looks like Chinese people are in the demand now. Extortion, Minivan accidents. etc.
  5. Yeah, my Australian neighbor Ho Chan Jying can .that he was a pure American
  6. Come on guys. Have more faith in the Thai Keystone Cops. They are here for serving happiness to everybody.
  7. Not True, but similar. A few years ago, I was fed up with my Internet provider and one day people were putting billboards in the street advertising for 3BB speed Internet. I took a go and subscribed for their package. At first, their Internet was really fast. But after a few days, a tortue goes faster as their internet. I went back to the shop to make a complaint and showed them the printouts of the 3bb speed. They sent people over and the answer from the technicians was that I was using an outdated notebook. After a few days communication, I went to my lawyer and asked for her advice. It seemed that the contract had printed in very small characters that if they could not meet the proposed speed, I was entitled to bring the whole stuff back and cancel the contract. Which I did.
  8. Not in Tops, but another supermarket (Big-C). Today, I was shopping in Big-C and I noticed a stack of rotating mops which were priced down by 50% and the new price was clearly advertised: 799 baht. I decided to take 1 box with me. But at the cassier, the charged me 999 baht for the box. I went to the desk if front of the cassier and made a complaint. The lady went to look at the stack and she came back with the excuse that it was a WRONG PRICING and the cassier can only charge what the Barcode shows. I told the lady that I was not happy with her story and I wanted a refund. The lady called the manager at the phone and after a short discussion I was refunded the difference. If you can open your mouth, you don't need to accept faulty prices.
  9. There is a court which handle only things like this. And if you can speak Thai, you will not need a lawyer But for a case like yours, a few hundred baht, i would swallow my pride and let that as a lesson
  10. In the mean time, 11 citizens burned alive in a public van ..... But they were not Chinese .....
  11. At this moment, I have about 32,000 Euro at the UOB bank in a FCD account. Exchanging them to Thai Baht makes no sense as I will be leaving Thailand and the banks in Europe which exchange thai Baht to Euro again are hard to find. On top of that, it is illegal to take that amount of Thai Baht out of Thailand. According to the UOB Bank, I would need to redraw the 32,000 Euro from my FCD account in Thai Baht and then exchange the Thai Baht back to Euro when I send them by the bank or any application. Crazy Note: The exhange from Euro to Thai baht will be done at the exchange rate from the UOB. NOT the official exchange rate. The UOB exchange rate is normally one of the lowest rates.
  12. In my case it's a little bit different. My account is already in Eur (FCD) account. Thus no exchange should be made. But I fear for the bank rules at UOB that specify that it's only possible to take money out of the account in Thai Baht
  13. Strange ...... My view on the Teachers in Thailand is quite the opposite of yours. And I can state my point of view with the teachers at the school of my daughter. An English Program school. The teacher, no difference between Thai or foreigner teachers, spend their days in school with giving the students a printer page to color, or a printed page with worthless questions taken out of the Internet. After the tremestrial test, or the semi-year test, most students had a very low result and the teacher advised the parents to left their kids take "special classes" with her/him for a good price per hour.
  14. For several reasons, I plan to go back to Europe for longer periods of time. In the mean time, I would to keep my 1 year Retirement Visa (Visa type "O"). The question is, suppose I leave Thailand for "x" months with a Reentry permit and I would fail to show up during that period for my 90-days report. What would happen? Will I be fined 500 baht/day? Would my Visa be cancelled? As far as I understand, the 90-days report starts 90 days AFTER coming back to Thailand, but Immigration don't says anything what happen with the 90-days report while someone is outside the country.
  15. I use OTP for all my accounts (even not banking related) and ever since I use OTP I receive from time to time messages that somebody tried to access my account. But was unsuccesful. Also, logging in from my phone is done with "Authenticator". No password is typed.
  16. The dead cyclist is dead. Bad Karma Amen The 6 "injured" cyclists will have to continue their life with losed limbs, proplably handicapped for life (= no income), high hospital expenses, etc. People only look at the 65+ deaths a day on the Thai roads, but don't think of the 1 million people who get injured on thai roads and are left with immense bills and a future as a handicapped person. Sad
  17. I am not sure about that. On Android, if you connect your phone to any other device via the C-mini (USB) port, the phone will switch into "charging" mode. On this mode, the other device has no access to the phone. In order to get access to the phone system, you need to swith the phone to "Data transfer mode". To simply access a phone data over a "Public" phone charging system means that the hacker would have access the public charger system to allow this hacker to download the data. Seems too far stretched to me. I think that the way this hacker works, is by people giving the hacker access to your phone by clicking on the link which put the phone on data transfer mode and put the caller on "Hold" while doing his/her hacking. "The phone was put on hold ....." explains everything.
  18. I will move next month back to Europe and need to send my funds in Thailand back to Europe. I read about different companies to handle thism eg Wise transfer. I would like to know of users who used such a company to make money transfers about their experiences with them. Easy of transfert, transparency, costs, etc. TIA
  19. "Can" get you 1 - 20 years in jail and a fine up to 200,000 Baht. "Lesse majestee" offenses carry a SURE 18 years in jail and no chance to get a cut of the jail term. Dare to post a REALITY about a bad service at a restaurant or a hotel makes SURE minimum 3 years in jail and a lot more than a poor 200,000 Baht. All depends where the priorities of Thailand are, and they are already well known by most expats.
  20. Including the passing of the obvious "brown enveloppes".
  21. They are majoring in "Bone breakers". Once they finish school, they can start working as "convincing people to pay their debts".
  22. There you have the answer: It was all a MISUNDERSTANDING from Anutin's new rule. The rule got lost in the Google translation ......
  23. Are you sure about that? What if the 2 students died because of the inaptitude of the rescue services who caused a fire?
  24. The PM of this country is in the first place a military who don't give a rats ass about 1 citizen. That what they learned in the military school. And judging the jerk reaction of the politicians lately, they have all the IQ of an amoebe when it comes to governing the country.
  25. That military (Junta) government was applauded and welcomed by ThaiVisa members were welcoming Tugsuban and his croonies of the PAD. You got what you wished for. Som Nam Naa
