  1. OK so bit of an update of my research. Unfortunately it seems most of the airlines will not accept snub nosed dogs as checked baggage, apart from Lufthansa which fly to Amsterdam, then allowing me to take the ferry with the dog to the UK.

    However... 2 issues:

    1. Lufthansa wont fly snub nosed dogs when any part of their journey is above 27c. I will be flying late June and although the flight seems to be at 11pm, it is rarely under 27c in Bangkok.
    2. The largest crate dimensions they accept as checked luggage is: 125 x 75 x 85 cm . My crate is: 123 cm x 82 cm x 90 cm

I am not sure if due to the fact Bangkok is always above 27c usually they waiver / are lenient with this rule? Otherwise they would be refusing to fly a lot of pets.

And regarding the crate size, do you think they would let the 7cm width and 8cm height issue slide? I doubt they would measure it at the checking desk, but does that mean the crate wouldn't fit into the cargo hold?

My issues is that even if I manage to source the next size down crate here in Thailand, it might not offer the extra room required for a snub nose dog.

    What a nightmare sad.png

  2. My hope is to gather some advice, opinions and ideas for how best, and most economically to the wallet get my Boxer dog back to the UK with me. I am looking at doing this around June 2017, however think it best to start looking into the details of the process now to minimise any issues.

I have done a lot of research regarding import requirements to the UK outlined by DEFRA, and fairly confident regarding the details of this and the timeline, however I am finding it much harder to decide upon the best transport method to get him to the UK.

As far as I can tell I have 2 options:

    1. Fly him as checked luggage to an EU airport (Amsterdam) and then overland to the UK
    2. Fly him as Cargo straight to the UK

My thinking (please correct if wrong)

Option 1 is the cheapest as Cargo is a lot more expensive, however the two airlines I have been recommended KLM and Air France state on their websites that snub nosed dogs must fly Cargo sad.png . Despite my dog having a longer profiled snout that typical boxers, and being acclimatised to warmer weather, I assume there is no way around this? And as a result it is no benefit financially to fly him cargo to an EU airport like Amsterdam?

    Questions:

    • Are there any known airlines that fly from BKK to a EU airport that allow snub nosed dogs as checked luggage?
    • Is there any benefit to flying him to an EU airport if I have to fly him as Cargo?

Option 2, although more convenient is more expensive as I have to use a approved airline and it must be as cargo. As such all Airlines require Cargo shipments to be handled by forwarding agents and so I will need to pay for 2 Agents (one UK and one Thai) as well as the cost of the cargo flight.

    Questions:

    • If flying Cargo, will I have to employ the services of 2 Agents. One Thai side and one UK side? Or can I handle this myself, simply bringing the dog to the animal checkin with all paper work for the airline?
    • Is an Agent required UK side, or can I simply collect him when he lands and his paper work is checked?

In summary, can anyone suggest the best way to get my Boxer dog to the UK from Bangkok? Any experiences of flying snub nose breed dogs to the UK, or airlines you can recommend would be great. Even more so if anyone knows of any Airline that fly snub nosed dogs as checked luggage from BKK to an EU airport.

Lastly any experiences regarding costs of pet shippers and recommendations, or of going it alone would be a huge help.

    Thanks in advanced.

  3. Hi Guys,

I am looking to have my Suzuki Skydrive serviced / checked. I live out Bangna way and have searched for Suzuki garages but not sure which are showrooms, cars or scooter garages.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also how much should I be looking at for a service (oil, filter, brakes etc)?

    Cheers

  4. That's great info thanks guys.

I am a bit confused how you receive these services. At the house I rent we have no Ariel or satellite installed but we do have True Cable internet (35mb). I guess if we went with true they would just give us a set top box and some form of splitter for the cable so we can feed into the router and set top. Would this be the easiest solution given my situation?

Do GMMTV and CTH use satellite? or some fresh installation? I assume only True Vision can make use of the installed cable I have for True internet?

Lastly would the quality be good (HD) and stream fast for ilikehd? I found that although I have good internet speed this seems to only apply to content within Thailand. Even youtube needs to buffer as well as any streaming content from the UK. Is ilikeHD setup to be more like local Thailand speeds?

    Cheers

  5. Hi guys, as the title really. What is the best way to watch and follow UFC here in Thailand? Preferably in HD and with live fights?

I have a good true broadband Internet package but would look into cable if it had consistent coverage of the UFC.

    CHEERS

  6. I am in BKK and have 35Mbps Cable and the last 3 days it has been shocking. Most sites load temperamentally and speeds test vary minute to minute but often less than 0.5Mbps.

I called true and they said something about a technician looking today, i had a call but I was at work. Got home hoping they looked at local street but no change.

Will cancel my package tomorrow and move it to a cheaper one as I am not paying nearly 2000tbh a month for this, disgrace.

  7. Firstly sorry about the Thailand mispelling, new keyborad...

I have a nice little Nissan NV 1996 pickup for which I need to either repair or replace the headlamp light stalk which also controls the indicators. Basically when twisting the end to turn off the headlights the long plastic rod inside broke and I cannot seem to get to it to glue together.

I cannot makeout any part number other than what looks like "6806A" in white paint and "NILES 14505".

Does anyone know where I might be able to source one of these stalks? In the UK we have breakers on ebay etc but no idea here.

    Cheers

  8. Hi guys, I take valium for flying and need about 20mg per flight, slightly more for long haul. I do not abuse them and am prescribed them back in the UK for the same thing. I had a friend get me some in Cambodia but they didn't have and he returned with 300 xanax lol unfortunately I find I feel rough after them and they seem to last not as long as valium.

I have tried 3 different drug store and all basically say no that I need to see doctor. I finally did this and was given just 20 2mg tablets as they is all they had.

I would like to just get a stock for all my flights, maybe say 100 10mg tablets and preferably Roch. Does anyone know if this is doable anymore in BKK? I was even unsuccessful in India would you believe at 3 stores. Seems pretty strict.

  9. Why is something like this important? Misplace priorities, herded like kwai to believing and supporting something like this....

The thugs control this, why support it.. a public event....

Marketing, rip off, for what? This is not sport...coffee1.gif

Indeed what are you on about? Not a sport? This is the sweet science my friend..

I cannot wait for this clash, harps back to the good old days of boxing

  10. Hey Guys,

I am going to India for a vacation next week and a bit unsure how I go about getting INR. From what I read some people say INR is a closed currecny so only available in India? IS this true?

Will my Kbank Debit Card be OK to buy INR in India?

    Any help much appreciated,

    Cheers

  11. Hi Guys,

First of apologies if this is not allowed to be discussed, I am not 100% sure on legal standing here in LOS etc.

I was looking into the possibility of buy a half decent replica of a higher end watch, something in the region of 15000 - 30000 TBH. I do not much about watches but would like something that will last a good few years and is a well made piece.

MBK may be a bit daunting due to my lack of knowledge, but I have read about websites which deliver these. Again I imagine a mine field so thought I would see if anyone here could advise.

    Thanks

  12. Hi Guys,

My wife is a trailing spouse from UK who is fully RIBA qualified and has a lot of Architectural experience from back home. We are looking at long term plans one avenue to explore is the possibility of finding Architectural work in a practice here in Bangkok. We are aware the need for an expat architect is slim to none here in Thailand but thought it is worth looking into.

Does anyone know of anyone here in this capacity? Or where one could find such posts advertised?

    Thanks

  13. haha that's OK I fully understand. TBH I am not fussed about the iphone 6 but looking forward to wearable tech like the Apple Watch especially as it is the field I work in. If I could rely on 3rd party app development for android based smart watches I would just replace the screen on my S3 and go with a Gear or something but I know that once Apple release the watch it will completely dominate the smart watch market. I am not impressed the need for a recent phone to use it and completly agree it is a lot of money for what it is.

I have had an iphone before (3G) and I did enjoy it but also have been very impressed with my Galaxy S3. Another factor is that a comparable spec android phone is nearish the same price point as an iphone 6 (Galaxy S5 etc).

  14. Best spec phone for a great price is the new AIS Lava Pro 5" ..@4790 .. And u can use a 32gb SD card which is not possible with any Apple phone .. Also if you want a stylus pen and USB connectivity ..Apple neither ..then it is a Samsung Note 3 or latest 4 ..

Sounds great, I didn't realise they offered Apple Watch support. Do you have any links to info?

    Cheers
