  1. Up until recent times it was only 3 metres wide in places due to erosion.
  2. It's possible that the sachet of coke slipped between the pages of his passport when he put the passport in his pocket.
  3. Probably used to do similar wherever it is he comes from, until it became known about. Part of the reason why he's in Thailand.
  4. I always kept a roll of 20's, fifties & 100's in my pocket purely for this reason. (Also tried to avoid having $100 bills in Cambodia cos it could be incredibly hard to 'break' them).
  5. Many year ago I was on a Thai B747 upstairs in business class, I was in the rearmost seat, which wouldn't recline, it was placed in such a way that the rear bulkhead was so close behind it that it couldn't recline, it wasn't like there was a problem with the seat itself.
  6. There are certain jobs reserved for Thai workers. In my hometown in the UK the largest employer (3,000 employees) has pretty much replaced it's local (unskilled) workforce with people from Eastern Europe, I think that happened very gradually. It used to be the one place where if you couldn't get a job anywhere else, you could get one there. What can happen if there isn't some kind of control over such things.
  7. Healthcare in Thailand isn't as cheap as it's made out to be, maybe only if you're American. I have 2 old friends who are back in the UK now, one in Liverpool, for cancer treatment. An old Irish friend had cancer treatment in Bumrungrad that cost ยฃ38,000, how many expats have that much spare cash? Another (very wealthy) friend made around 5 million Baht on a property, he ended up giving all of that to B'grad, according to a mutual friend. Ciggies in Cambodia are way cheaper than in Thailand. Half a draft lager 50 cents in PP (is that about 18 Baht?), where will you get that in Thailand? Many expats are counting every penny. Visas are also way easier in Cambodia,
  8. Draft-dodgers/the children of wealthy Russian's?
  9. Many moved to Cambodia, including 3 of my old friends. It's cheaper there than Thailand, which ain't as cheap as it used to be. I first visited Thailand in 1985, and lived there from 1998-2018. Also in the last 10+ years Thailand has started tightening-up their visa rules. up until around 2010 it was very lax in that regard, an old American friend had a passport that was almost half-full of overstay stamps!โ˜บ๏ธ
  10. Robinson Crusoe was based on a real-life man called Alexander Selkirk, who was Scottish.
  11. Some rules only apply to certain countries it would seem. This contravened The Vienna Convention.
  12. "...You wouldnโ€™t see this kind of thing in Geneva or Monte Carlo". You don't see 30C winter weather in those places either!๐Ÿ˜Š

  15. He had reached "Touching-cloth" status!๐Ÿ˜
  16. I've long thought of Israel as being like an overseas territory of the USA, almost like a colony. Also, who ever thought that establishing what is basically a European country in the middle east was going to work out well?
  17. Soi Nana - "Bringing Pattaya To The City".๐Ÿ˜
  18. Just when I thought that our German-speaking cousins were about to take our 'crown'...?๐Ÿ˜Š
  19. It used to be someone that you had known for 2 years, and that they were of some 'standing', like a judge or a doctor or JP.
  20. This would mean European powers committing to the defence of countries 6,000 miles away.
  21. They also moved The Dubliner, but it just wasn't the same as the original.
  22. Castrate and muzzle the owner, and put the dog in prison!๐Ÿ˜Š
