  1. Zelensky also said that not one inch of Ukrainian territory would be ceded to Russia. the offer was also ignored.☺️
  2. The ex-Soviet bloc countries became NATO allies instead of Soviet /Russian allies, which they found 'threatening', there former-'friends' were now on the side of their enemies. Whenever we see the history of the Cuban Missile Crisis, and what is never mentioned is that the US had previoulsy placed nuclear missiles in Turkey, in the Soviet's backyard. As I said, most people are completely unaware of that.
  3. It wasn't NATO's policy for most of the Soviet-bloc to become NATO members...until it was. I think Putin/Russia feel threatened by NATO expansion. What's NATO's answer to that? Let's make NATO even bigger. And before I get slagged off for making these comments, I don't believe that the invasion of Ukraine is that different to the 2003 invasion (a 'war of aggression' based on falsehood) in Iraq, where maybe half a million people, many of them innocent, were killed.
  4. Vlad doesn't fancy having NATO nukes based on his Ukraine border if Ukraine became a NATO country, and I can't say I blame him.
  5. False flag etc could be instigated by either, militaries tend to love war.
  6. For quite a while now I've thought that there's a 50/50 chance of NATO going to war with Russia.
  7. I have an old friend who does this. (Money's not an issue for him AFAIK). He spent 12 or 13 years doing it the legit way. Surely if one left Thailand and re-entered on a new non-O visa to try and become totally legal again, the Immigration Dept would still have a record of your previous residency in Thailand?
  8. As an old American friend used to say: "On the day we're born we get a ticket to the freak show, if we're born in America we get a front row seat!"????
  9. As you probably know, it's possible to get a tourist visa for your teelak (whom otherwise would never be given one) to come to a Western country by simply giving "an agent" 20,000 Baht. I know a few guys who did that.
  10. OK yes, my last visits were 6 or 7 years ago, both occasions I was in & out of there in 20 minutes. (As I mentioned, Laksi/BKK was always 2 hours plus).
  11. Jomtien is a walk in the park compared to Chaeng Wattana/Laksi in Bangkok. I used Jomtien twice when I lived in Patts, but most of my time was spent in Bangkok. I would say on average it took 30 minutes in Jomtien, and 2 hours at CW. I think it's just down to the sheer volume of people that use the Bangkok office.
  12. The excuse the guy I know uses is that if he does this he can leave the 800k overseas and make some interest on it. The only thing being is that I would think it costs him 20,000+ Baht a year to use the agent, if you include 4 trips pa BKK-Pattaya. He did it the legal way for about 12 years before. I couldn't see why he started using an agent when as far as I could see he could just carry on doing it the legal way.
  13. I know of an expat who travels from BKK to Pattaya 4 times a year to do this. The only thing being, I don't know why. Money's not an issue for him, and he was doing it the legal way for about 12 years.
  14. If they or anyone else says anything against it they're villified, cancelled etc. Author JK Rowling being an example of that.
  15. Sport is about the only area of life where segregation by gender is allowed and is part of the system.
  16. All the hookers that ever seen (usually on TV) in the UK and the USA, you wouldn't want to go with them at all, even for free,????!
  17. One thing in Thailand is that women's-lib is yet to arrive there as it did in the West about 50 years ago. I'll give an example of what I mean. I remember my old (very wealthy) Swedish friend talking about his Thai live-in girlfriend. He said that she would get up every morning to make his breakfast "A Swedish lady would never do that". Thai ladies haven't spent their entire lives being indoctinated with the idea that they should be just like men. IMHO, many Thai ladies have a femininity that is hard to find in Western ladies nowadays, many of whom seem to be out to bust the balls (mainly financially) of any man who's unfortunate enought to get involved with them.
