7 years after leaving Thailand my Bangkok Bank account is still open, I wanted to keep it on the very slim chance that I ever live in Thailand again. It wouldn't surprise me if it is eventually closed due to a lack of activity.

I believe that Ukraine is more corrupt than Thailand according to this ranking.

He learn,t a valuable lesson if u buy lady drinks and refuse to pay you know what will happen next time
We don't know the full story? Was he charged for 6 lady drinks when he thouht he had only bouht one?
Were there 'depth-charges' in his check-bin?
Many on here are jumping to the conclusion that he was in the wrong, very many years in Thailand tells me that this might not necessarily be the case. We are only getting one side of the story here, that of the bargirls.-

I dont normally take my family out at 3 in the morning.
You should try it! Everywhere's closed at that time so it will be a cheap way of taking the tribe out!😁

Not once in 30+ years, I am out all the time Bangkok/Pattaya bar scene, have a big friend base, no one ever mentioned happened to them
So no, it is not what happens often
I knew of numerous occasions where that happened in the 20 years that I lived there.

You agree to buy the one girl a drink, then when the bill comes it turns out that you've also bought her 6 friends drinks. What you thought would be a 600 Baht check bin turns out to be 3,000 Baht.
Isn't that what often happens?

Unfortunately I have been living back in the UK since 2018. Brexit in 2020 made no difference to my life at all, there has been no change in my everyday life.
Although I do hear business people who import/export to the EU saying it's a major pain.-

The ECHR was passed into British law. But it isn't just about immigration, the Good Friday Agreement is dependent upon Britain being signed-up to it.

I should have said someone like Donald Trump for Prime Minister!
About time the politicians stop playing by the woke band.
Donald's British government would still be signed-up to the ECHR.

Think that is called denial, obfuscation and whataboutery.
Supermarkets were claiming the official population figures were utter garbage at least 15 years ago.
Was it Tesco that estimated Britain's population to be around 80 million rather than the official figure of 67 million?
Also, if illegals aren't counted in the official numbers, it puts London's population at close to 10 million rather than close to 9 million.-

Was it my imagination or did Donald give plum jobs to his kids and their spouses during his first term?
(And also pardon his criminal associates).-

He's African. How can he be British? OK, by nationality, sure, but that doesn't make him a real Brit. It means he's an immigrant.
I was kinda jokin'😉

Possession, or possession with intent to supply? The quantity would make all the difference?

Not to mention the sizeable contingent from the CIA, and several dozen Navy Seals.
Sadly there is almost no representation from the 43rd Water Bottle Cork Repair Workshop, a little known logistical unit which served gloriously. They spent lots of time in 'Nam, Cheltenham!
A guy was once overheard saying that the unit that he was a member of was so secret that even the government didn't know that it existed!😁

I'm from Hereford born & bred, but often feel like saying that I'm from Gloucester instead. Why? Because if you say you're from there, or mention the place, you could get all the SAS blah blah blah BS.
I've never claimed to even have been in the army, but have known quite a lot of of SAS or ex-SAS guys, my sister nearly married one, back in the late 70's, he always carried a pager device.-

He was probably going to get off lightly until he uttered these words:
“I did not spank her hard. I’ve done this many times before in nightclubs and no one complained. I didn’t do anything illegal. This isn’t a criminal act at all. Why should I be punished? The police can do nothing to me and I’m about to leave Thailand.”-

I was told that Thais are not allowed to be sleeping partners in a business, ie a 51% share holder has to put in 51% of the initial investment. My guess the Thai put up nothing. Does that make the setting up of the company by the Thai illegal?
That's right, they can't just be a 'nominee', not legally.

So. If you get caught in Thailand you're probably going to be able to buy your way out of it, doesn't happen in the UK (AFAIK).

I lived in Thailand for 20 years, but I returned to the UK at 53 mainly because I didn't want to run out of money in Thailand.
Over the years I had quite a few older-than-me retiree-friends who returned to their home countries, whether it was UK, Aus or USA. The one common reason (or it was a factor)? Healthcare issues.

No longer live there. Also, when living in Bangkok my taxi rides were never (very rarely) more than 2-3km. If my taxi to Lumpini Park was 68 Baht I would just hand over 100 Baht & say "keep the change".
