  1. At this time it is impossible to speculate what actually happened here. Let's hope a proper, unbiased investigation is now carried out.
  2. In late July this year I will be renewing my marriage extension as per normal. My current British passport expires 26th December 2023. I have always believed that this won't be a problem for this year's renewal which will finish early in August 2023. However, I recently bumped into an old friend who told me that this may not be the case. The problem being that when I renewed my current British passport back in March 2013 I did so 8 months early so that the new passport that was issued is actually is valid for 10 years and 8 months. But this friend of mine has informed me that Thai immigration may not except passports that are more than 10 years old for yearly renewals, no matter what the actual expiry date printed in the passport states. This sounds like hogwash to me but then again this being Thailand it could also be true... So in simple terms my question or this, Will I have a problem renewing my marriage extension in late July this year with a passport that expires on the 26th December 2023? Bearing in mind that that expiry date is 10 years and 8 months after the passport was first issued.
  3. These rescue services are unsung heroes who are constantly dealing with the never ending daily carnage on the Thai roads. They get nowhere near the credit they deserve.
  4. Well this paltry "fine" certainly won't deter others from doing the same. The police once again showing they don't have to balls to punish someone for their crimes.
  5. Deportation papers printed and ready to be signed! Looking at the decor in that place makes me feel like I've been taking something...
  6. I've long felt that there should be a "corkage" charge for those foreigners who arrive in Thailand with their own wives in tow.
  7. Well you know what they say, when you see a BMW being driven courteously it must have be stolen...
  8. According to CM's immigration website, they are not closed at all next week.
  9. I thought it was well documented that Thai prison food was supposed to be atrocious. Fish head soup and boiled rice once a day etc. I've always been led to believed it is down to the families of the inmates to provide nourishing food for their loved ones to eat.
  10. It always used to be one month. I haven't heard of any changes to that.
  11. There are lots of places other than Tesco to buy English style tea bags here. Small, independent shops specializing in western food. If you let us know roughly where you are located then someone will be able to point you in the right direction of a local shop. Also they are readily available online from various sellers on Lazada. The seller Food Variety being a favorite of many expats.
  12. There is always lots of comments on this forum criticizing Thais for not stopping to help at accidents. Now you know why. You could put yourself at risk trying to be the good Samaritan here.
  13. This, in a nutshell is why there are so many problems on the roads here, Feeling sorry for someone and letting them off with a warning isn't enough
  14. Very sad. Hopefully she will learn from this and in the future ignore random people who contact her on social media. The internet is crammed fill of scammers.
  15. Good, it's time to move on to more pressing matters such as the imminent outbreak of world war 3...
  16. 4000 baht fine! Saying that life is cheap here is one hell of an understatement! I'm guessing he won't even loose his job once he's "sentence" is completed.
  17. I'm more offended by someone telling me I shouldn't be offended by something that might offend me!
  18. Not that I'm aware of. I'm over 50 and have a marriage extension. And I know guys in their 70s who also have marriage extensions.
  19. If you're GF's sister has been involved in a car accident then her vehicle's insurance policy should cover basic medical costs. That's presuming that they have car insurance, not everyone here thinks it's necessary...
  20. These people have obviously never heard of safety deposit boxes at their local bank.
  21. But not the rest of the time? What a very sad state of affairs.????
  22. Yes, when you also take into account that these numbers are just the people who were actually caught! If they had the man power to set up police check points in all Thailand's rural areas then these figures would increase tenfold.
  23. We've have one made by Clarte. It's about 10 years old now and so far has never had a problem. Our one only chills the water, it basically works on the same principal as a refrigerator, switching it's on and off via a thermostat when the water temperature rises. It doesn't chill the water in the bottle, only what is in the reservoir within the machine. It has a control on the back which you can adjust to how cold you wish your water to be. There is no pump to fail. The water is dispensed purely by gravity from the 20 liter water bottle which is turned upside down on top of the machine. Warning! Changing the bottle when the water is finished does take some practice! We decided against buying on that heated the water. A conventional kettle is perfectly adequate for that purpose.
