Trafficking is a huge part of the sex-for-sale industry in Thailand, but only when you see the girls parents or other family members being the traffickers. Many girls from poor families have no other options than to work in the sex-trade, because they, in addition to their eventual children, are required to provide for their parents and often other family members as well. Setting up a state pension fund for the many poor elderly people, should be the Thai governments highest priority.

And where do they get the money from to set up that fund? From the proverbial money tree in the backyard of Parliament House?

    He forgot scenario #5:

Thailand gets the full Indian virus treatment starting in August, with 50,000 new cases every day and over 1,000 people dying. Hospitals and crematoria are overwhelmed, patients are dying in hospital car parks and bodies washing up on the beaches. Finally, the government abandons its plans to reopen to foreign tourists as nobody was making a booking anyway, and puts the entire country under total lockdown. Total foreign tourists = those who arrived in the Phuket sandbox before it was abandoned, or less than 10,000.

If that happens, perhaps they should do what the Indians did: Ivermectin protocol.

"Cowboy" and the "wild west" are always used by Commonwealth people to refer to anything inefficient. Wild West or not, Wyatt Earp in Tombstone in 1881 loved ice cream--and how, you may ask, could anyone get ice cream in the southern Arizona desert before the introduction of electricity? Trains packed with ice were able to make it all the way down from Alaska and northern Maine. And Paris/NY fashions were only a year behind. People could order anything by train using the Sears catalogue.

Trains all the way down from Alaska??? On which railroad would that have been on?

  4. If it is closed again, it would be the second time around. There used to be a branch on the corner of Soi 5 and Jomtien Beach road but it closed many years ago. All of a sudden my account was at the branch in the Big C mall across from SabaiLand. Then they opened the Jomtien branch of which is mentioned in this thread.
