Why is it so heavy?
I used to have 750 v twin Kawi that was 225 KGs, so 180kg for a 250 is ridiculous.
It's made of pig iron, that's why ....

of course there are 2nd hand Honda / Yamaha bikes cheaper available than the Bajaj. But how did the owners care about them? It starts already finding one with standard exhaust. I can imagine how these relatively small bikes have been tortured with highest RPM to get the most noise, no thank you....
Many a true word spoken in jest ...

Bajaj is the third or fourth largest motorbike manufacturer in the world. I don't thing they are trying anymore?
Bajaj are building the New KTM 490 range (Available as either Duke, Super-Motard, Enduro, RC or Adventure) in a purpose built factory in Pune, India...
Expected to be available late 2022...
With a 60hp twin cyl engine & WP suspension - will knock the 500cc offerings from Honda / Benelli / Harley D / RE into NEXT WEEK ..
My mate Kerry (who was Tony Rutter's race mechanic), reccons it's going to be the best new bike in it's class, for a long while - A true "game Changer".
Is it a problem it's going to be made in india ? - Nope (thanks Poppa)...

Just ordered 2 (one for each leg) ..

If there is a dealer reasonably close, why not. The only negative i can possibly see is resale after a few years?

I went for ride yesterday the bike went great and the new end can I have bought is quieter than the previous box.
It read on decibels level 86 so for a big bike that's good, I took out the silencer inset that came with the end can and rev it up and it read 87 decibels, I thought that was weird. ????
Keep up the good work Sir !
Maybe we could use you for a global ambasador for quieter motorcycling ??

In 1999 the standard was 95 dBA for up to 125cc and 99 for > 125cc. In 2000 the standard was amended to read 95 dBA for all. Now, there may be later changes.

The bike in question has a key start ..
Easy to lift the bike and bung it on the back of a pick up.
Easy to replace the lock and wizz the bike up to nakhon nowhere, with a fake plate.

What it is offering grasses is rewards for reporting illegal riding.
Even a TIS box can be noisy.
What about older bikes pre-TIS Regs.
It's 95DB for all bikes - maybe it's 99DB on planet Zogg,. where you spend much of your time - but not here in Thailand.
Soz and all that.

The net is definately tightening .....
I've just Sold my Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle....
One of the few Ducatis that comes from the (Thailand) factory with a street legal / Thai TIS stamped system.....
Prior to the sale, i took it up to the MOT Test Centre for it's annual check, so i could get the tax sticker.....
Drove in - Tester came over, took one look at the Termi name on the pipe pipe and said "cannot" - i went into the office and told the lady that it was "standard fit" - She said they were clamping down now and they couldn't pass it .....
I went home, downloaded an exhaust picture from Full throttle borchure and went back - still not happy - so i get on my hands an knees and remove the alloy covers to expost the pipes with the TIS stamps - Tester says "OK" .....
Then he goes to the back of the bike and looks at the (factory fitted) lower mudguard / plate holder - "cannot" he says...
i get the lady out the office and tell her and the tester that this is 100% how it came out of the factory - But they were not budging and unfortunately the part of the brochure i'd downloaded only showed a close up of the Termi pipe ....
So back home, downloaded and printed off the whole brochure, and put a red ring round the number plate holder and the termi pipe ....
Back to the Test centre - showed them the brochure - Did the test, which it passed...
I was spitting feathers as i put the exhaust covers back on....
yep, not a good time to be modding yer ( credit Poppa) bike - i see many modd'd bikes for sale and feel sorry for the poor fella who unknowingly buys it and then turns up with all the papers at the transfer centre, only to be told to "do one" (poppa) .
