    what's your budget ?

    10k, 25k - 100k ?

I'd buy new, cos you don't know what life a used one has and also where will you go if it breaks ?

Went to a few aquarium shops here in Pattaya, but they didn't have it. Global house may have it, but bit out of the way for me. Would cost me more than 200 Baht lol

A few years ago I bought similar small items, but can't remember where I bought them

i bought a few of these for my aquarium a couple of weeks back from an aquarium shop in naklua ......

From dolphin island - head down the naklua road - 3rd set of lights turn right (towards the naklua post office / sukhumvit) - 100m on the right is the aquarium shop.....

As i recall the connecters were 2-5 baht each .....

Care to expand why. What justifies the extra 25k over an Aerox?

You'd have to ride one Fordie tbh .....

The Aerox is a fine scooter, but The ADV drives more like an auto motorbike, which puts it in a different league - f/r diskbrakes really do make it stop on a sixpence, longer travel front forks with gas shocks, help to iron out the bumps and Honda reliability ....

  4.

The new Arom condo,  smack bang next door is due to be started shortly (Q2 2021 start quoted on their website) - 55 stories no less, and a quoted 3 year build - That will do Ananya no favours....

If i'd bought in Ananya or Riveria Wongamat for that matter, i'd be pretty prissed off right now......

@soi3eddie. Apparently, the ADV weights are 20g and the PCX uses 18g, changing to 18g will give you some acceleration gain, but fitting a yellow clutch spring and removing snorkel and fitting a sports air filter improves things even more. Also suggested to change to carbon clutch pads / grooved clutch cover to get the power down onto the road will less slipping.

Where do you find such info ? - did the guy who did the mods allow you to ride his ADV, so you could do a comparison ?

OP, its pretty straight forward, either the hotel does the TM30, your landlord/agent does it, or you do it.

Hotel, if they take your passport for check-in its done, TM30 is in the system and immigration can see it etc, the worst instance you may have to tell immigration the hotel name show a receipt etc.

Landlord, check before you sign a lease that they will do TM30 (or at least provide copy bluebook ID etc), otherwise dont stay there.

As possessor of a property, you can do the TM30, show lease document etc is usually all that is required, otherwise they may want to see copy blue book etc.

I think you may be confusing things by referring to a condo hotel, there is no such thing, its either a hotel (operating as one) or its not.If you are staying somewhere just showing your passport and no lease, thats a hotel.  If you are signing a lease to stay somewhere thats a landlord not a hotel

The plot thickens ! - I moved in today.....

The lady on reception tells me that they book all customers in with immigration "on line" so not sure if that makes them a hotel or a condo hotel....

From what i understand, its a condo building of circa 500 units and they own circa 150 of them, which they rent daily / monthly etc......

So my question to the learned - do i still need to fill out a TM 30 and bung the agent 500 baht for processing ?

Or do i do nothing on the basis ive got the receipt for the room and they've told immigration where i'm living ......

in my passport, ive got the TM30 receipt for my previous address...and of course when i go for 90 day reporting - what would i do then ??

    .

  7.

just received a message from an "agent" - Just need copy of rental agreement and 500 smaker roonies and they sort it - i then collect the passport the following day, with the TM  30 receipt inside .....

tough call as i was looking forward to doing it myself and sitting round like a spare part for 3-4 hours (like i did before), only to be sent away cos they'd come up with something else that they wanted.......

Then  to come back, sit around for another 3-4 hours, only to be sent away, cos they'd come up with something else...

    mmmmmm  ....

    TM28 has been scrapped

The landlord or possessor (that's you if you have the rental contract in your name) has to submit a TM30 for you. Make sure you get copies of the house book and landlord's id card, then you can do the TM30 report yourself.

if i go condo hotel route - how would i know they had done that ? - when i viewed their condo, very little english spoken and i got the impression they wouldn't be reporting anything !

if i fill out a TM 30 with a receipt from " abc condo hotel"  and rock up immigration - will that suffice ?

  9. I'm looking to move condos and have a couple of options....

I moved 3 years ago and the rigmarole of TM28 / TM30 papers was a nightmare, so i wanted to get the latest info / requirements ....

Previously - i completed a TM28 and took it to the imm office (Jomtien) and was told i needed a TM30 as well - the agent contacted the (Thai) landlord, who did nothing......

finally after months off faffing, the agent filled the forms out....

TBH i don't want to go through that fiasco again.....

The options i have - 1) rent from private (ferrang) landlord   2) rent condo from condo hotel (who i assume have to report my residence, relieving me of having to )

any help would be greatly apreciated.....

I'm the OP.  I am NOT talking about 150cc bikes anymore.  I wrote on page 1 that I changed my mind and now intend to buy a Honda Forza 300 or 350.  From what I've read and the several videos I've watched, they are far superior to 150cc scooters. You also seem to have missed the part where I said I need the bike for around town as well.

Maybe for sustained dual carriage way riding, but if thats of prime importance, then a 500cc geared bike would be my weapon of choice - but nipping in and out of traffic,  nipping up to the shops and parking in the tight spaces round pattaya - The Forza would be like riding an old bath tub .... The ADV  would be far nippier and "chuckable - Standard suspension on the ADV is far far better than standard Forza suspension - Pretty important here what with the 3rd rate roads.......

ADV looks better too (IMHO) ...

Okay, I was fairly set on an ADV  before reading this forum, and your mostly positive comments have convinced me.

Before I go to the shop, how will I know if they are selling a 2021 model or a leftover?

    2 reasons for my question.

2020 has been a year to forget and, 2021 might hold its value longer.

In the shop today, sales lady was either uninformed or disinclined to comment.

    the 2021 ADV 150 colours ......

Yes, I'm seeing plenty of used 390 for sale with reasonable prices.

My only concern with KTM is support and aftersales, which is why I'm leaning towards the MT03/R3.

Besides,  I prefer a high revving twin than a torquey single.

This new "big bike" licensing might end up just like getting a regular DL but with higher fees. We all know how things work here, so this is not out of the question.

First thing to do if you own the Mk1 Forza is throw a set of YSS adjustable shocks on rear, once set up to suit you bike becomes super comfortable and handles great (yes old model is a bit bulky/Barge like looking however it handles and rides far better than it looks) Mines a 2013 and I still enjoy all the benefits it gives me, whether around town or a roadtrip, solo or with pillion it does all I need, Im a fat ar$e at +16 stone, I dont need anymore than the 300cc I have, plenty power/fast enough for Thai road conditions, oh and 2nd thing to do is get Pirellies on when tyres due - Jobs a Good un!

New Forza bit long in leg for me and yes it looks nice but I just prefer to keep my old one as is a great bike (Phuket based Forza owner)

    I'll have a pint of whatever he's on ......

  14. One for Urbon Joe, possibly ....

I have a friend that last year obtained a B visa and subsequently a work permit for a limited company he set up with his g/f, to run a coffee shop / restaurant ..... They have 2 emplyees ..

Business isn't good, and he can't afford to use the lawyer who set up everything up last year and was hoping to do everything himself this year....

So - does he have to leave the country and obtain a new B visa and renew his work permit (assuming the w/p lasts for a year) ?

or, does he extend the visa on the strength of renewing his w/p  ?

in either case, is it something he could do himself (with his Thai lady's assistance), and if so, any idea of the costs involved ?

    There is always one ...

Tricity - "This will be the next best scooter EVER ..."

How many do you see ... not many. Why - a solution looking for a problem.

Same as this Niken - 10 in the country.

263kg - 70 more than the MT09 it is shares an engine with. Weight is NEVER a good thing on a bike.

But if you want one go buy one. Be the first one on your block. Stand out in a crowd.

Tri-city was such a poor seller, Yamaha stopped selling it here - Maybe the buying public didn't want a problem solved that never existed in the first place..... ? ?

Niken will be pants in the real world, and once the novelty has worn off, you'll be looking at eye watering depretiation when you come to sell it, as Owners of Honda's ill fated NM4 Vultus, found out (thats if they could actually find someone to actually buy the darn thing)....
