  1. the main problem for me is the depreciation and how hard they are to sell second hand unless you virtually give tham away ....
  2. the main problem about selling them is that they are made in China and traditionally chineese made bikes lose their shirt .... A couple of weeks back, a pal called round for some advice - he's in the market for A Honda ADV 350 and had been to see the Zontes 368G and wanted my advice before he pulled the trigger ... My advice was "whenever you're thinking of buying any new vehicle - you need to find where the fire escape is" (ie, you need to know what consequences you will be lookiing at if you need to bail out and sell the thing quickly).... i told him to stick with the Honda - when he wants out, easy to sell without eyewatering depreciation ....
  3. you need 35 years - so 2 to "top up" - you can go back up to 6 years - if you ring the future pensions people, they will tell you what years represent the best vlaue and they will tell you how to pay ... it's a good idea to set up a "Gateway" account, then you can see what years you have paid and your actual forecast - failing that ring them - i found them very helpful and got through quickly .... once i transferred the "top up" money, it took about 2 months for it to be added to my account ...
  4. Got it ! - now you know why i'm renting a 25m2 roon in Nurun Condo ... lol

  7. banks pay more for TT transfers than rocking up with cash - K bank currently paying 44.40 Link: https://www.kasikornbank.com/en/rate/pages/foreign-exchange.aspx
  8. Not long now until i phone the pension people to "claim" my pension .... Other posts i've read say the UK government use a third party company, who transfer Thai Baht to your Thai Bank account each month.... My question: is there an option to have the money sent to my Thai account each month in GBP ? - My Bank's "TT Rate" looks better than the rates i understand the agency uses (today, K Bank TT rate is 44.40) TIA ....
  9. me - some days i sits and thinks - other days i jhust sits ...
  10. thank you for that link - very useful .... But doesn't answer the 2nd part of my post: "Also, when the pension payment is paid into your Thai Bank Account - Do you receive it in GBP, and the bank then converts it into Thai Baht - or do they send it in Thai Baht ? - if the latter is the case - what exchange rate do they use compared to the Thai Bank's TT rate ? " Any ideas ?
  11. Couple of questions to all of you guys that have started claiming your UK pension in the last 12 months Did you just ring the International Pension Centre, and give them a few security questions and that was enough for them to start paying you - or did you need to complete a form and send it off to them with your birth certificate as proof of ID ? Also, when the pension payment is paid into your Thai Bank Account - Do you receive it in GBP, and the bank then converts it into Thai Baht - or do they send it in Thai Baht ? - if the latter is the case - what exchange rate do they use compared to the Thai Bank's TT rate ? TIA ..
