  1. In a moment of madness I uninstalled Adobe Flash which is obviously fairly useful. Tried reinstalling it from XDA but it’s not working right. Could someone look at the version installed on the IQX and post it for me so I can hunt it down? Cheers.

  2. Sorry, it's gotten confusing because another prior poster originally brought some no-name model into this thread... and it was THAT phone (a 2100 Mhz only 3G model) that I was responding to after he recommended it here...

Then Family responded to my post on the 2100 Mhz only no name model, but now I see his comments were instead aimed at the I-Mobile IQ-X models (not the entirely different phone I was commenting on). Thus the confusion.

So yes, it's correct that there are two flavors of the I-Mobile IQ-X, one with 850/2100 Mhz 3G suited to DTAC and True Move customers, and then the A variant with 900/2100 Mhz 3G suited to AIS customers.

Thanks for the clarification. wai.gif Those that I-Mobile is using are the common kinds of 3G band pairings found on phones sold in Thailand. But a 2100 Mhz only 3G phone made by some other manufacturer is not a particularly good idea in any setting.

Now I understand I was lost oin WHAT phone you was refering!

  3. I thought the phones were 3G on two frequencies? 2100 on all models and either 850 or 900 depending on if you choose the A or non A version.

No, the 3G band or bands that any particular phone can receive are only those that the manufacturer decides to equip the phone for. Some fancy phones come capable receiving on four or five different 3G bands.

Normally in Thailand, though, most phones sold here in the past have been dual band 3G as you mentioned, either 850/2100 Mhz or 900/2100 Mhz... 2100 Mhz being kind of an international band, 850 being used by True and DTAC 3G locally, and 900 being used by AIS 3G locally.

TGBKK sorry you are confusing me now!

Familyonthemove said that he thought the IQX range was dual (multi) band 3G on 2100 then either 850 or 900 depending on the flavour of IQX which is how I understand them to be as well.

You start off saying no he is wrong but in your next paragraph say yes?????

  4. 3G on ONLY one band... 2100 Mhz??? That's not very accommodating or user friendly....

How many bands would you like it to be on?

whichever band is available where i happen to be

Maybe you would of been better off choosing a phone that was not built, sold and marketed solely for the Thai market?

  5. Yes it was OTA. I also installed the ADB drivers for the Nexus 7 and it also doesn't show in ADB so I'm starting to think it's my Windows installation and not the IQX

My phone just crashed or switched itself off and now I can't get it back on again. I've tried every combo of power and volume keys for up to 10 secs but still nothing. It has done this once or twice before and I just left it off in the morning it was fine. Presently I'm in the UK so no way to take it to a shop should it decide not to wake from its deep sleep.

If you are a proud owner of Nexus 4, and recently upgraded the device to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, then you might face some horrific issues. Reportedly, users are facing issues immediately after upgrading their Nexus 4 to the latest Android version. Some of the users have mentioned about overheating, while others are saying that homescreen button no longer works. Many of them complained that apps stored on their Nexus 4 disappeared due to continue crashing of Nexus 4. Dan smart, a forum member at Android Central pointed at brightness issues. Here is an excerpt taken from the post. "noticing my nexus 4 shutting off, it seems to happen when I charge it for a few hours, either wirelessly or wired. Also brightness has some issues + play music when I put it on all songs random play it shows empty buffer & sometimes quits after playing a few songs. Anyone else having same or other bugs?" Nexus 4 Owners Facing Issues After Upgrading to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Another forum member, Grec C complained about phone automatically shuts off after Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. "Phone shuts off randomly after the 4.3 update. Doesn't shutoff if it's connected to the charger or to my bluetooth. Perhaps the phone is going too deep in sleep mode once the screen turns off?" Many users have tried to boot their Nexus 4, still problem exists. For instance, one forum member at Nexus4forum member was facing hell lot of problems after installing Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on Nexus 4. "Nexus 4 was working fine. received message the 4.3 operating system was ready to be installed. It downloaded then installed and rebooted. Now it is stuck on the X boot screen. Have tried system recovery but still will not go past the X screen." Google is aware about the problems faced by users. We hope Google will soon fix up these issues facing by Nexus 4 users around the world. Stay tuned to GizBot for more updates.

  6. I just received my Jellybean 4.3 update for my Nexus 7 today and so I'm hoping that i-mobile will make this update available for their flagship models before too long.

Thats interesting was it an OTA upgrade?

I have been playing with Antutu's Smart Profiles (LINK) which allows you to define times to automatically switch to either preconfigured profiles or self defined. Set up a 'No Data' to run from 22.00 till 07.00 automatically switching back on line saves my data usage and battery but best of all I dont have to remamber to do it!

  7. If me I would question my judgement in choosing a Thai that chooses to smoke ice while pregnant for a wife and accept blame for my choice.

Maybe if it happens to you you wont be such a smartass know it all keyboard warrior.

    I d

This happened like a lightening bolt, totally out of the blue and against character.

I know, I was with her 14 years.

ivorced her and sold the business. Zero tolerance.

But of course you know better and judge me on your apparent infinite wisdom of something and somebody you know nothing about.

It would never happen to me for one simple reason. I have worked closely with drug addicts for over 20 years in London, New Zealand, Australia and 12 years in Thailand. My understanding of the drug culture and of Thai life gives me a better understanding than most. If being better educated makes me a 'smartass' then so beit.

You saying 'I know, I was with her 14 years' truly means nothing if you do not know what to look for and trust me the only thing that happened like a lightening bolt was her getting found out not the speed in which the addiction took hold.

'She said it was the first time- up until that point she'd never tried it before she said.'

Yes of course it was! Please come on surely you have a better understanding of Thai's with 14+ years of experience?

'But of course you know better and judge me on your apparent infinite wisdom of something and somebody you know nothing about.'

Yes I do and my knowledge allows me to see things a lot clearer than most. Whilst I know and need to know nothing about you I know addicts which is enough.

Personally I would consider yourself lucky to of had 2 children with her I do hope they are with you and not their mother.

Thai women, we can't live wiv em, can't shoot em.

Guess that depends on who you know! ;-)

  8. The IQ of about 6, not only chose to sell drugs in a country with extremely severe penalties but the icing on the cake is to sell them to a random stranger who calls your phone number. rolleyes.gif

    +1

Seems either greed or desperation clouded his judgement for which he will have a long time to reflect.

Caught selling and possession of 2.38g's will get him an extended stay of about 8 years just hope he has the sense to plead guilty and get that cut to 4.

Hope he has a fat bank account...otherwise, he'll be screwed smile.png

Anyone foreigner front lining to strangers will have zero funds he is screwed.

  9. There are plenty of apps available that will target functions draining your battery, but if you don't need connectivity overnight then one quick fix is to hold down the power button and select Airplane mode.

Certainly a very quick and easy way to disable all data connections problem is you also disable the GSM connection taking your voice and sms out as well.......

  10. Does anyone have a suggestion for a app to control start up programs that does not require root?

Maybe try 'ram booster' just be sure to white list the mediatek thermal app.

    Sent from my i-mobile i-STYLE Q6

Ah the iMobile master is in town!

Cheers mate I will give it a go its so annoying having thngs like Facebook that I never use auto loading. I would normally use ES Task Manager but obviously it needs root.

Oh BTW you were right about using Three when in the UK.

EDIT - Do you have the PLAY link only I cant find one that also uses MTK??

  11. Been a bit pi$$ed at the battery performance so went Goggling for some answers.

I knew having WiFi and 3G open eats away but didn’t realise just how much. Turns out WiFi drains around 100mA's and 3G anything from 10mA's to 30mA's depending on the signal strength. Last night for a test I closed but data connections and in 9 hours my battery only dropped from 4% from 76% to 72% .

So it seems if you aint using it close it!

I have also configured the GPS to download the predicted path in an attempt to speed up locking now with good viz it will lock in under 60 seconds.

  12. +1 for the IQX

I have been using one the past month and for the money it’s a great performer.

Its rootable but not easily as you have to drop a new ROM in rather than the easier one click solutions.

The iMobile range cover EITHER 900 or 850 not both. What carrier was you going to use?

Why do you need quad band 2G?

    Runs Android 4.2

Has a decent front camera and a very good 18M rear.

Have you read the spec on them as these answers are all covered in the iMobile promo literature.

  13. Sorry, but so ugly case for a so nice phone ? And it's so cheap, ok to buy a new one when it dies !

Anybody has information about IQX battery model to find spare ?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as with all things. If you can post pictures/prices of 'prettier' cases I am sure the people following this thread would be very grateful of your positive contribution.

Have you tried an iMobile shop for the battery would be a good start.

  14. Seeing as this thread is live I thought I would update here.

Just had a call from the wife they are finally selling cases for the IQX in Bangkok. The first is 250THB the second green one 350THB will confirm exactly where later but would expect them to be in all the normal major outlets.

I finally got the driver to install using AdbDriverInstaller but even then I couldn't get adb to recognize the device so I never actually got to try the rooting method in the first thread.

It would be great if someone could give it a try.

    --damole

Cheers I will give it a try tomorrow.

Shame SuperOneClick doesnt work it really was easy rooting my Q6.
