The court will apoint a free lawyer (who probably wont speak any English) he can choose to retain a better lawyer if he wants/has the money. A translator will be present when he has to go to court.

Restoring for the BIOS backup held on board is not a good idea as IF the BIOS is infected it will simply screw the backup as well! An infected BIOS will screw your MBR so best to flush it as mentioned by a couple of BM's and reconfigure it your self.

Before I did do this, I would look at the computer clock. Are you losing time? If not, the battery should be OK.

If he has Windows Time service running it will mask a flat battery.

Pull the CMOS battery and the power cable and leave it for at least 2 hours. Put them back and you will be prompted to go into the BIOS and reconfigure. In the first instance use the safe settings then when that’s working reconfigure for any overclocking/ports etc you had. I would not restore a backed up BIOS as chances are it will also be infected.

Why don't you set up an account with a proxy service in North America that will let you use an encrypted tunnel to it, and go out from there? If privacy over WiFi is your issue, that would cure it. I tunnel to my own server in N. Am. always and nobody ever knows where I am.
