Since the hospitals are applying for import licences, it would seem that they have solved that problem.

No, as Moderna pointed out this week, vaccine companies will only sell to Governments at the moment.

I don't know; I'm not in the vaccine business. But since the hospitals are complaining that they so far have not been able to obtain import licences, I would assume that they have procurement plans in place; why else would they apply for licences?

The bigger problem is getting a vaccine company to sell to them.

I totally agree with you that private hospitals should be allowed to do a different track. However if they did I think it should be ethical. In other words high risk people first and not to begin before the public free program begins.

Another explanation can be found in today's news of the purchasing of Moderna vaccine.

"Moderna like other vaccine companies do not sell to the private sector"

However, what I do resent, is that the government so far has been unwilling to give the private hospitals permission to independently import vaccines. I have no idea of why that is, but it is completely unacceptable.

I don't think that it's surprising if a government thinks about the welfare of its own citizens first

You mean like not calling it a lockdown, so they don't trigger handouts to their own citizens?

I seem to recall  'gathering' was not permitted before 1st May.

They actually taped off the beach during that ban.

Unfortunately it seems it's a total ban on people on the beach.

Yep, it started out as a ban on drinking and eating on the beach, but now its no sitting either .... why?

What gets me is that its groups of officials telling groups (Families) that they can not sit on the beach.

Fair point about payments but it's not a lockdown.

You're allowed to leave your home as you want.

    Malls are open.

You can shop for groceries any day of the week.

You can take long walks including on the beach.

You don't have to get a government pass to leave your house.

Similar to the UK's "Lockdown" then.

    All closed except for

    - restaurants

    - coffee shops

    - gyms

    - malls

    - supermarkets

If you can survive with that list then it’s still open:)

Nope, only Malls, Supermarkets remain open from 1st of May, and Restaurants for takeaway only.

Well the image cannot do much about a lack of resources and competence. The system in Thailand is already creaking under the policy of hospitalizing all positive cases.

I don't see the Private Hospitals creaking.

I think the UK has a far better Health Service and facilities that clicked together well. It would be optimistic to expect Thailand to do as well. Some people live in places without roads.

    Not sure about that.

As with a lot of countries, governments are more concerned with their image than anything else.
