  1. The annual “Cobra Gold” Thailand-US military training exercise will be adjusted down in terms of participating personnel and types of drills, military commander-in-chief General Chalermpol Srisawat said on Wednesday.

“The adjustment aims to make the programme more suitable with the current Covid-19 situation,” he said.

The training exercise will be divided into three parts and runs from July 12 to August 13.

One is the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Tabletop Exercise (HADR TTX) scheduled from July 12 to August 12 in Rayong and Sa Kaeo.

The other includes a military staff exercise (STAFFEX) and cyber exercise (Cyber-X), scheduled from August 2-13 at the Royal Thai Naval Air Division in Rayong.

The third part is land and sea training exercises from August 2-13 in Krabi, Chiang Mai, Lopburi, Rayong and Surin.

That can only be true, if Travel itself is never the same again.

And yes there is a possibility.

Please, do not edit my posts to back up your name calling nonsense posts.

  3. The United States embassy in Thailand published the following message for American citizens from charge d’affaires Michael Heath:

To My Fellow Americans in Thailand,

In the past few weeks, many of you have asked about the availability of vaccines in Thailand. I want you to know that I hear you and understand your concerns. I am providing you with an update on the actions our government is taking to ensure you have access to vaccines.

The Biden-Harris Administration has embarked on a global effort to address this pandemic by sharing 80 million vaccine doses worldwide by the end of June and 500 million more in the coming year. The first 25 million of these doses will soon be released, with 7 million going to countries in Asia, including Thailand. We continue to advocate with the Royal Thai Government for fair access to vaccines by our citizens. We are heartened by Thai government commitments to vaccinate Americans and other foreign nationals who reside here, just as Thai and other nationals are receiving vaccinations with ease in the United States.

  4. I see Countries who have vaccinated the majority of their populations, will be announcing the plans for booster shots.

Which got me thinking about countries like Thailand, who seem to have a large gap between those who have been vaccinated and those that have not even had their first jab yet.

And sure enough, there is the news today that "The Public Health Ministry is speeding up a study looking into the need for a third Covid-19 vaccine shot for people who are fully vaccinated"

It was obvious to all I meant international tourists, but maybe not obvious to you.

Surely, the majority of international tourists would fly in to Samut Prakarn, not Bangkok then?

Yes, seriously.  The virus can't swim in ocean water.  ????

I do wonder if you have ever been to Thailand, when you think "Most tourists to Pattaya have to fly into Bangkok, the highly populated capital of Thailand"

Seriously? re you not familiar with vaccination? This is not new - it is a demographic statistic that has been established for years - I really think the only thing  your post does is reveal how ill-informed you are. You need to get better informed on the back ground of vaccinations.

But where is the FACT that 70% covid vaccination has resulted in Herd Immunity?

There wont be any high season 2021-2022 in Thailand.

    Seriously?

I have already written off 2022-2023 high season.

And this time last year I was being laughed at.

Most tourists will fly into Phuket.  The Phuket International Airport is within Phuket province.  Phuket is also an island province, which means everyone on the island / in the province can be easily quarantined from the mainland, in an instant.

Most tourists to Pattaya have to fly into Bangkok, the highly populated capital of Thailand, and it's also a different province.  The risk of spread is much greater.

As you say, in regards to Phuket, will the risk to the mainland be worth it, for the very few tourists that will holiday to Phuket, before a significant number of Thai's on the mainland have been vaccinated?

    Seriously?

I always said if they diverted their vaccines to Phuket, they could reach the 70% quicker, quarantine the island, and open up to tourists, but diverting vaccines comes at a cost, possible at the cost of lives, to other provinces and people who have to wait longer to be vaccinated.

And wheres the proof Herd Immunity is 70%?

  11. 3 hours ago, Leaver said:

They were too busy doing nothing in order to save a few baht, then when they discovered an individual can still catch covid and spread covid, despite being vaccinated

Not sure, Phuket yesterday was banging on about Herd Immunity after 70% of the population is vaccinated.
