  1. You will never "find yourself" until you allow the Lord Jesus Christ to "find you". Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. The void in your heart can only be filled by a personal relationship with your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. You must be willing to turn from your sin against your Creator God and place your God-given faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Then, begin to bury your head in the Word of God, for it is God's instruction book for how to live your life. The TRUTH will set you free and you will never again question who you are, your life's purpose and where you are going once you pass on. HE saved my life 35 years ago, and all of my questions about life have been answered and HE has never left me alone. HE can do the same for you! II Timothy 1:12 For I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.
  2. My stepdaughter is a government schoolteacher, and she has told me horrid stories of rampant corruption by these school directors. She is in charge of managing the budget for the school, so she has first-hand knowledge of the problems. A major Thai bank gives the school 400K per year to supplement the school lunch program, and the director steals half of it. This is only one of many ways that these crooked directors game the system.
  3. If you are looking for a "guess", I would say that most, if not all, police recruits have bought and paid for their jobs. In such cases, the candidates background is concealed, and bad behavior is glossed over. Money always "talks" in Thailand!
  4. I like the forecast on this site. I have followed it for the past 6 months and they have been right on the forecast every month. I'm holding out for 40 to 1 by year's end. After that anything can happen with the world economy being so volatile. It is updated daily. https://longforecast.com/usd-to-bht-today-forecast?fbclid=IwAR0JzJu5qTV6zfSo1VSw-AnVbizrXKRdkEkLnJBULHmrBThy4OrPoE3OIH4
  5. If this dog was so well known by the Big C employees, they should have made arrangements for the dog to rest and sun bathe in a safer location. Instead they allow the dog to be an annoyance to their customers and put the dog and others in harm's way. The same thing happens at the front door of every 7/11 store. Customers have to walk around these feral dogs and risk either being bitten or falling on slippery tiles and other obstacles outside the front door, and the employees do absolutely nothing about it. It's disgusting!
  6. I have used the same photos two years in a row and there were no questions asked. I have a date stamp on the photos, so I simply open the photos in the Paint editing program and change the date on the date stamp. Easy peasy! I'm pretty sure Immigration doesn't scan those photos into my profile on their computer, so they wouldn't know if the images were the same as last year.
  7. So, sort of like cows in India, only cows don't normally attack people!
  8. The dry mouth could very well be the result of sleeping with your mouth open. I never had a problem with dry mouth until about 5 years ago when I started rolling onto my back from my routine side-sleeping position. As I have aged, I feel painful pressure points on my hips, so my body naturally compensates by rolling over onto my back. As soon as I'm on my back, the mouth opens and I am not even aware of it. My wife was the one that made me aware of sleeping with my mouth open. I keep a bottle of water by the bed and sip from it all night long. It' just another downside to ageing.
  9. Too many things to list here. I would be all day doing that, but here are just a few. Symmetry is very important. Everything has to be aligned. Bank notes have to be in order of value in my wallet. I can't stand chaos and disorder, or putting off things for another time. That's why it's extremely difficult for me to adjust to living in Thailand. After 12 years I'm still trying to adapt, but I've come to the realization that will never happen because of my OCD. This place is terribly toxic to me because there is no order to anything and chaos rules the day. It is also a land where Murphy's Law is preeminent....if anything can go wrong....it will. Nothing ever goes as I expect it to, so that alone frustrates me to no end. Being prompt is essential. If someone is late for an appointment, it drives me crazy. Again, that is normal in Thailand, and nobody is ever on time. Years ago I had a Persian rug under my coffee table that had beautiful tassels along the edges. I couldn't walk out the door in the mornings without taking a hair brush to the tassels and combing them all out straight. Clothes have to be ironed and shoes have to be cleaned or polished before I can leave the house. Nails have to be properly cut and aligned, and for goodness sakes, no dirt under the nails. I know....I'm a basket case. My wife things I'm crazy, but she's learned to live with it.....thank God!
  10. I've been told the same thing when the I go to dinner with the entire Thai family and they pass me the check to pay. Sounds like pretty convenient and well orchestrated Thai thinking if you ask me!
  11. I have said for 12 years now that Thailand is the poster child for Murphy's Law....if anything can go wrong....it will! Nothing every goes as planned, so I have learned to never have any positive expectations when I go out to do any sort of personal business. I just expect things to go wrong, so I have a plan A thru C just in case. It is the most frustrating part of living here, so to protect my sanity I seldom will tackle more than two interactions with the locals in a given day. A trip to a hospital and a bank in the same day will generally just put me over the edge. I have an obsessive-compulsive personality, and I don't thrive well in an environment where there is chaos and disorder, so Thailand is very toxic for me and just drains the life right out of me. I have observed over the years that the general default attitude of anyone involved in customer service is to tell me every reason why they CAN'T do what I'm asking instead of finding a solution to a problem that I may have presented. It's the exact opposite of what it should be, and it makes me want to pull my freaking hair out!!!!!
  12. I just discovered something new for the online 90 day reporting system. I have used it all year, but my next report is due May 17th which is the same day as the expiration of my current extension of stay and the online system would not issue me a confirmation for the next 90 days. I will have to report to the Udon Thani Immigration Office for the approval. My extension of stay for the upcoming year is at present under consideration until June 16.
  13. Use this website and do it by EMS postal services. It cost me only 200 Baht for a certified copy of my wife's Thai passport, and I had it back in 3 days. https://consular.mfa.go.th/th/publicservice/บริการรับรองเอกสารทางไปรษณีย์?fbclid=IwAR1cYNqMyW-KvIoAGyi3Q1GHW8_YQYLcSBw-FURgXEcaGqH5GVZtuhPNyIc
  14. Forget about the countertop filters for purifying your drinking water. Been there...done that....total waste of time and money. I buy the 20 liter bottles off the water truck and pay the driver 20 Baht extra to carry them into my home. He can do the same for you. I bought a meter off Lazada for around 100 Baht that will measure your water quality. My bottled water is 5 microns. Next, go to the 20 Baht store and buy a dozen 750-1000mm plastic bottles that have a snap on lid, then fill them up daily from the 20 liter bottle. It only takes 3 minutes. Buy a 100 baht plastic stool to set the 20 liter bottle on until empty, then load another one. That makes is super easy to pour from them. Problem solved! You'll go crazy and spend a fortune on those water filters if you go the other route. My wife and I spend 240 Baht a month, including tip, for the drinking water, and we drink a lot of water daily. Problem solved.
  15. A 40mg Atorvastatin tab cost me only 15 Baht at the local Army Hospital in Udon Thani. Simvastatin is dirt cheap.
  16. "A significant portion of Thai women and many other Asian women do not butterfly, as it’s just not a part of their culture. These women remain monogamous to their men". I seem to remember a survey a few years ago saying that Thai women were the most adulterous women on the planet.
  17. I use Top-Up service with my AIS sim on my mobile phone. When I call a US landline or mobile number through the mytello Thailand dial-in number, does AIS also charge me for the number of minutes that I use on the mytello call?
  18. Has no one every wondered why the Thai news media focuses on crime and car accidents? Number one is to distract the public from the more important things like political unrest and corruption. Secondly, if they can keep the public in fear from robbers, murderers and drug addicts, they can justify such a huge police force and secure their positions so they can keep the corruption gravy train rolling down the tracks. Why do you think the police line up to have their photographs taken after they take these scoundrels into custody? They must continue to perpetuate the pubic perception that the much needed police are heroes and are here to protect the citizenry against all the dregs of society, so they are a much needed institution. It's all just camouflage! The protection of the citizenry is way down the list of priorities, and bribes and corruption are number 1.
  19. I just bought a new Honda City with a dealer installed webcam, and they attached it to the rearview mirror shaft with a specially designed plastic harness. Now there's no more falling off the windshield.
  20. The guy on the motorbike made the typical "Buddha turn" without looking to see if a vehicle was approaching. I see it every day, and it can be a death sentence.
  21. That's exactly what's happening, so we're already there. This lunacy has got to stop!
  22. You can do it here by Thai Post. Just download the form on the link, mail it in with the completed form and you will have all your documents back within the week. I've done it before and works great. https://consular.mfa.go.th/th/publicservice/บริการรับรองเอกสารทางไปรษณีย์?fbclid=IwAR1cYNqMyW-KvIoAGyi3Q1GHW8_YQYLcSBw-FURgXEcaGqH5GVZtuhPNyIc
  23. He wasn't in a hurry. It was all about "face". He is a superior Thai, and you are just a lowly dirty farang and have no business driving in his country! Whatever happened is your fault!!!
  24. Toolong, did you get an email back to say that your application had been approved, or did you have to log back into the site to get your answer?
