As a former near daily patron of the red-light district in Manila, Philippines, my only comment is.....what the heck do Thai people expect to happen when you drop a tourist from any social background into a cesspool of alcohol and drunkenness, drugs, prostitution and greedy flirty women? Hiso and Lowso tourists alike are predisposed to turning into complete sloppy uncontrollable drunks who otherwise might be perfect gentlemen when they are not exposed to such a lascivious lifestyle. Under no circumstances is it ever justified for an unruly tourist to be the victim of a beatdown by a group of men who are hell bent on kicking their brains out on the pavement. Drunken patrons should be expected and anticipated, and security should be well trained to deal with these types of circumstances without using gestapo tactics.

Things that annoy you in Thailand

You can never go wrong by wearing a nice suit to the red-light district. When I lived in Manila back in the 80's, I was the only guy on the strip that wore a nice suit and tie. Only the smartest and most beautiful girls would approach me because the others were intimidated by me. I never had trouble walking out with the prize gal, and those were the best years of my life. If you dress like garbage, then that's what you attract! -

If there is no life after death...

Sir, the Word of God identifies people who think as you do: 1 Corinthians 1:18 says....For the message of the cross is foolishness [absurd and illogical] to those who are perishing and spiritually dead [because they reject it], but to us who are being saved [by God’s grace] it is [the manifestation of] the power of God. The fact is, there are very few death bed confessions and events of true repentance. The Bible says that NO ONE can be "saved" from the Lake of Fire and come to God on their own unless they be drawn by The Holy Spirit. You don't choose God....God chooses you based upon your genuine faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ on the Cross. It is a continuous process of being wooed by The Holy Spirit. God knows the past, present and future, and He sees the intent of your heart. Deathbed cries to God are generally based on nothing but emotion and feeling sorry for the wretched life that one has lived. It's one's last and final attempt to "buy fire insurance" to keep them out of Hell's fire. I'm sorry my friend, but it just doesn't work that way. Those kinds of cries never even make it past the ceiling. No one fools God! Most people spend their entire lives creating out of a sinful heart and a corrupt mind their own image of God, His attributes and the way that He operates within the Kingdom of God. If you really want to know how He thinks and why He does what He does, then you have to read The Word of God and ask Him to reveal His Truths to you. If you continue to reject Him, then the very millisecond that your physical body ceases to function, you will find yourself awake in the presence of Jesus Christ at The Great White Throne Judgement to be condemned to The Lake of Fire. There will be no second chances. Be afraid my friend, be very afraid! -
Read the Book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament, and all of your questions will be answered! That hour, or less, of reading will change your life forever. You've wasted your entire life searching for your ultimate purpose, and it can all be revealed to you in one hour. I challenge you to give God a chance to speak to you through His Word. You've got nothing to lose, and eternity to gain! Come on....I double dog dare you to take a step in God's direction. You will not be sorry! If you don't have a Bible, then click on this link and start reading: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ecclesiastes 1&version=NKJV

If there is no life after death...
fittobethaied replied to SoCal1990's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
It is all in God's Word, The Holy Bible! I can't read it for you. You have to read it for yourself and ask The Holy Spirit to give you revelation knowledge to understand what you are reading. The Word of God is not intellectually discerned; It is spiritually discerned, and without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you will never figure it out. When you read and receive God's Word as Truth, then He will open your eyes and heart to receive more and more Truth day by day. The minute your heart begins to reject what you are reading, the revelation from God stops dead in it's tracks, and He will even take back the knowledge that He has already revealed to you and allow you to be spiritually blind once again. That's the very reason that so many people can begin reading the Word of God and throw is away so quickly claiming that It is all nonsense. When you reject God and His teachings, He turns you over to a reprobate mind to continue in your sinful ways. -
If there is no life after death...

Well, I read through the first page and couldn't take any more. It is absolutely amazing to me that so many people are in such denial that there is a real Creator God and a Heaven and a Hell....fully grown men and women who have lived an entire lifetime during which time they could have discovered the answer to the question of the afterlife by simply taking an hour a day for a few weeks to read the New Testament, find the answers for themselves and settle the matter in their own mind once and for all. But instead, they have taken that time to devise every sort of unfounded excuse possible to keep from having to believe the TRUTH. It just goes to show you the deep-seated power of sin in one's life and the sway that Satan has over those who have rejected the Good News of Jesus Christ. God has given to every human the measure of faith that is required to believe in the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and you can either believe in His atonement for our sins and spend eternity in Heaven, or reject the only true message of salvation and spend eternity in the Lake of Fire which is called Hell. God doesn't send anyone to Hell. He had given us the way forward to an afterlife in His presence, but most will make a willful decision to reject the straight and narrow path and choose the broader path which leads to Hell. Where you spend eternity is every man's free will choice, and for those of you who have received Christ, I will look forward to seeing you in Heaven one day! To the rest, I pray that you will come to your senses before it is too late. If you die in your sins without Christ, you will not get another chance. -
A 22 year old Thai gal who is that low on the social totem pole selling bubble tea would never be bold enough to ask and older farang for that kind of money unless they are being coached. These gals have learned to surround themselves with wiser and more mature people who are pros at getting in the pockets of farangs. They have told her exactly how to go after you and milk you for all she can get. Been there....done that! Right now, she is dealing from a position of strength with that little carrot between her legs, and you need to learn to play the game. Offer her half of what she is asking, then YOU use your money as a carrot and tell her that later on you will consider increasing her salary based on how the relationship goes. This will give you more time to size her up and see how she handles the money you give her. If she starts with the constant sob stories to get more money out of you, then you will know exactly what kind of game she is playing. It is important that you understand that she doesn't really love you like you may love her, and you are entering into a financial arrangement/business transaction. See it for what it is and don't kid yourself.

Tourism Tourism Shock: Thailand's Visitor Numbers See Alarming Plunge
fittobethaied replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What do they expect! Scams galore are going on all over the Kingdom. Every time one's phone rings, you immediately expect it to be some con artist trying to scam you out of money. Crime is all over the place, and nobody feels safe. Every news article that reports on a crime blames it on those dirty foreigners and calls us out by nationality. It just shows the Thais' disdain for us. Everyone knows what is behind those fake Thai smiles. Foreigners are charged any random price for goods and services depending on how gullible we look, while Thais pay a set less expensive price. The beaches are crap with litter all over the place. I've lived here 15 years and nothing has changed. Thailand is still one of the greatest armpits in the world! -
All BS! Menus are still in Thai even though I chose English. None of the food pictures appear, and the food locations that I chose to view are not available. Looks like they put the cart before the horse by coming out with this fancy writeup before they were ready, and now they are screwed. I deleted my account and uninstalled the app, and I will not bother to go back and register all over again....ever!

This generation of young men and woman are lured to "extreme sports" activities by TV and social media. They actually believe that to do stupid stuff makes them more macho. People go around the world to climb Mount Everest to "conquer their fears". God gave us a brain and the emotion of fear for a reason, but then we see all the time on TV where a snow skier was trapped in an avalanche, was rescued at great expense to the public, and then they can't wait to get back on the slopes again the next day. Sheer stupidity!

Tourism Thailand Vows to End Dual Pricing Amid Growing Tourist Backlash
fittobethaied replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Now they need to do something about double pricing in government hospitals. I have a disease which requires a special semi-annual blood test that cost me 11,900 Baht at the Udon Thani Hospital, but only 4,500 Baht at the local Army Hospital. They use the same lab in Bangkok, and everything is exactly the same. My meds cost 7000 Baht per month from UTH, and I get the very same medication from a company in Bangkok for 700 Baht per month. The disparity in prices can only be explained by sheer greed and ripping off the farangs. Thais don't pay anywhere near that price at UTH, and the cashiers have already told me that there is a two-tier system of pricing. God only knows what those prices would be at a private hospital. -
I find it laughable that so many posters will give the Thais a pass for their rude and selfish behavior and call it a cultural norm. It is nowhere near normal for human beings to be so uncaring and indifferent to their fellow man. God has given to every man a conscience that is designed by HIM to condemn or approve one's behavior. HE has placed in every human heart a universal standard of moral behavior that works in synchronicity with the conscience. Unfortunately, most of the Thais that I have met are walking in spiritual darkness and simply refuse to come to the light. Their hearts have been hardened by sin, and what we witness in this culture is a manifestation of the consequences of a refusal to acknowledge GOD as their supreme Father in Heaven. If they were responding to HIs light, God would be evangelizing this entire country to introduce them to Jesus Christ; but instead, there is very little evidence that the Holy Spirit is at work here. And yes, God will remove His hand from a nation that willfully chooses to walk in darkness. Romans 1:20 says...For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without any defense or justification. .

No more scout uniforms, an easing of other dress restrictions like school uniforms, an easing of restrictions on haircuts, putting an end to corporal punishment, promotion of LGBTQ++++ rights, and the next generation of kids will make this place a worse cesspool than it already is. If you think "kids gone wild" in the USA is crazy, just wait. You ain't seen nothing yet!

Thai people in general are totally unaware of what is going on around them, and they never give a second thought to common courtesies that we practice in the West. Here it's all about "me, me, me" and to he** with how it affects anyone around them. You can see it in the way they drive, the way they walk up/down stairs or on a sidewalk bumping into people like a line of marching ants or even lining up in a queue or paying at a cashier counter. They have absolutely no regard for their fellow man, and the streak of selfishness runs deep in most all of them. It is no stretch to say it's even coded in their DNA. For me this is one of the hardest things to adapt to in Thailand. Total chaos rules the day in this country, and living here is not for the faint hearted!

Several years ago I purchased a toy poodle puppy for my wife. The dog was not housebroken, and we both worked during the day, so when I came home from the office the dog had pooped and peed all over the house. I rubbed his nose in it and cleaned his snout by sticking it in the toilet bowl and flushing it. My wife felt so sorry for the dog and said that I was being very cruel and inhumane to the poor thing. My answer was "trust the process and be patient, and in the end we will all be better off including the puppy". Change is never easy, and sometimes it's very difficult and harmful, but difficult times requires difficulty measures. Go Trump!

Dog Barking Drama: When Neighbourly Conflicts Turn Threatening
fittobethaied replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The sound of the barking dogs doesn't bother me near as much as the righteous indignation that I feel towards the dog owners for allowing their animals to upset the peace of the neighborhood. I take it as a personal insult against me and our neighbors. It is disrespectful and a slap in the face to everyone within hearing distance of the dog(s). In my mind, the peace of the community takes precedence over the individual liberty of the residents. The same rule goes for loud music! Over the past 15 years I have personally approached three separate neighbors at their front gate to peaceably and diplomatically share my concerns about their barking dogs or loud music, and each time I was met with nothing but disdain and hostility. To this day these neighbors still refuse to speak to me or even acknowledge my presence on the soi. There's just no way to win with these people. I am totally convinced that selfishness is simply written into their DNA! -

What the OP is experiencing is called "sound or auditory hallucinations" or "musical ear syndrome". I have had it for years, and it drives me crazy. I have a song or music without words playing in my mind every waking minute of my life since about 5 years ago, and I'm 76 now. The song may change several times a day, or my mind may simply make up a song that I have never heard before. Some of the songs I recognize and can place the singer(s) and even the circumstances in my life where and when that song played an important part. Other times, I recognize the song but just can't place it. The music never goes away, but I have learned by experimentation that if I go to YouTube and find a song or songs that I really like, for example, a contemporary Christian song, then that song will be cast into my mind and replace some of the unwanted songs that fill my head. I have also discovered that if I start to count to 50 in my mind, that distraction will cause my mind to stop playing the song, and even forget it, and replace it with another as if I had just changed the channel. I recently visited a mental health physician, and he recommended that I try a medicine called Risperidone. He insists that some of his patients had good results from that medication. I used it for one night and had terrible side effects, so I immediately gave up on it. It is also highly addictive, so I suppose I will simply have to learn to live the rest of my life with this affliction. You can check it out here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auditory_hallucination
