In a previous condo building I lived in, the smoke detector inside the room flashed red every so often, maybe around 30 seconds to a minute each flash. I am now living in a different condo building. The smoke detectors inside my room of this condo building doesn't blink at all. I thought that smoke detectors should periodically have a flashing red LED light that blinks every minute to show that it's working and that there's still battery in it. I asked my real estate agent when I moved in, who's also a foreigner, but he had no clue. The Thai owner of the room said he thinks all the smoke detectors in the rooms should be hard-wired and doesn't think there's a battery in each. I asked the juristic office and they also had no clue. Anyone here experts in smoke detectors know what could be the correct answer?

Lots of people have posted in the past when you renew your licence, then it gets extended until your birthday. They wouldn't give me one, even though I asked for it. They said on a DTV I can only get 2 years. It sucks they won't give 5 year licences on renewals if you have a DTV.

I went to Chonburi Provincial Transport Office (Banglamung Branch) to extend my 2 year motorbike licence. I've been reading all over this forum that when you renew, you get extra months until your next birthday, which could mean potentially up to a year extra. This is absolutely false and a lie. My licence was due to expire in January 2025. My renewed licence was only given until 9 December 2026, so it's 2 years from today. That really means I even lost a month because my old licence would expire January 2025.

This is what an insurance broker told me when I wanted a health insurance policy, it can't be done, only travel insurance policy if you're staying under 12 months. This is from a well-known insurance broker who was or still is a sponsor of this forum. Therefore, the insurance broker must be wrong??? Or is it because I require coverage for less than 12 months, not the full 12 months? (Eg. Why would I pay for 12 month coverage if all I need is 8 month coverage because I'm staying only for 8 months)

Holy cow Batman, all you need to get a LTR is Passport, paying yourself a dividend payment into your bank account and a company resolution for the dividend? This is even easier than applying for a DTV. Surprised that this forum hasn't got millions of people applying for the LTR rather than a DTV, the the LTR visa has been around for a long time already. Does the LTR really mean you don't have to pay any taxes in Thailand? Seems way better than the DTV then. I could just show my Aussie company paying me personally a dividend to my personal Aussie bank account and so the company resolution of the dividend and boom, LTR would've been granted. Seems even easier than the DTV route.

WTF, is this normal in Thailand? If someone does a runner from the petrol station, the staff filling up the tank has to pay for it out of their own pocket? Is that the same with other shops in Thailand too? And for Gold shops too, what if someone does a runner, the staff pays for it?
