Fire at Pattaya Condo Sparks Panic Among Tourists
bbi1 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
They let the Thai people and the foreigners who aren't tourists to stay and burn while only evacuating the foreign tourists? Did they check their passports to confirm if they were foreign tourists or here living permanently before deciding to evacuate them or not? -
Condo security must be very weak. Doesn't her luxury condo require scanning of a keycard to get to her floor, as most condos will have this and it only goes to your floor only? What about security cameras of the condos? And it should be impossible to get in via the balconies too as you can't climb up them. Doesn't she lock her valuables in a bolted down safe in her room? Or have cameras inside her condo to record things and view a live feed when she's out of the room? Seems like common sense but not many people have it these days.

What the hell? Doesn't water to condos get supplied via water pipes like in the West? Do all condos have to catch their own water in tanks to supply water for all rooms so people can take showers and use the kitchen sink and their washing machines???

Best time of day for jomtien immigration?
bbi1 replied to pomchop's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It seems the later you go, the less crowded the lines to get queue numbers. 4pm should be a good time, but if you get a queue number at that time, I wonder what time they would process a certificate of residency or an extension of a DTV? What time do immigration actually stop working if their official closing time is 4:30pm? Do they work through all the queue numbers until they're all finished? -
It's taken a few weeks already and you haven't received the DTV or a rejection yet? Seems like some red flags have been raised. My DTV was issued less than a week after the initial application through the eVisa website with an enter date put down about 2 months in the future. It also seems everyone else here have gotten theirs also in about a week or less.

Is this also for Jomtien Immigration or a different office? When I went to them I was expecting to hear that all is fine and I don't need to bother, but they said no it's not enough, need to provide all photocopies of everything and the form and lodge it with them while waiting for over 60 people in the queue before me.

I've heard in the past people say that a TM30 can be reported online. Well, I signed a lease through a real estate agent and they did the TM30 and gave me a printout that TM30 was done. I went to Jomtien Immigration and asked the front desk information desk if this is sufficient and was given a queue number to the TM30 reporting desk, desk No.10. Had about 60 people in the queue before me so I just walked up to the desk, handed her the page the agent gave me and asked one of the ladies if the TM30 my agent did online is ok and I don't need to get one of those slips they staple to the back of your passport still. She pointed me to sign on the desk detailing all the required documents to report. I asked why do I need to report again if the agent already done this? She then said I need to do a report. So I had to fill in the usual form and provide all photocopies of passport and all the pages of the rental contract. Actually, I copied only the front page as always in the past that was the only thing needed. Not sure why things have changed and they now require the whole rental contract??? What the hell is the point of an online TM30 reporting when your real estate agent does it and it's all a complete waste of time, as you still need to do the reporting yourself???

Ok, so it seems that it's really not possible to get the coverage that I was hoping to get.
-
Yes, all of those, if possible. Don't need personal injury insurance for myself as travel insurance will cover it with a valid Thai motorbike licence.
-
Has anyone used this company in the past for rentals? Are they a reputable and legitimate company?
-
I actually did ask one of those brokers. Their reply was it's not possible: "Only the owner of the motorbike can insure the vehicle. When you rent you are covered for medical expenses with your travel insurance. All other need to be covered by the insurance of the rental company." Therefore, it seems it's impossible to cover your rental vehicle or any other vehicles or property if there is an accident, unless there's some other way of getting coverage??? What actually happens if someone has an accident and hits a Ferrari or Lambo with their rental motorbike? They're on the hook to pay for damages of these supercars out of their own pockets because there's no insurance available to be bought in the first place?
-
If renting a motorbike, is it possible to get insurance to cover any possible damage to the rental motorbike and any other vehicles or property if an accident were to occur? If so, what type of insurance is this?

I would say leave the DTV for those under 50. For those over 50, stick to the retirement visa. In the past lots of boomers were always telling the younger folks to get a proper visa. Now the younger folks have the opportunity to get a proper visa and stay in Thailand long-term so let's leave this visa to them.

How much do agents charge only to get a COR from Jomtien Immigration on your behalf? I suppose you need a TM30 already lodged prior to applying for a COR?

Just did the DLT eLearning online videos and the 4 answers at the end. Got a "Pease save this QR code for show on the day of service at the transport office", however, when looking at the instructions here https://www.pcecnews.com/permNL/DLT-Video-Process.pdf on the last page it says "Training Passed" in green letters up top and "Has successfully the renew training". Mine doesn't say these two things. Have they changed the format so it doesn't say these things anymore?
-
Is this also true for Pattaya? No need to book a queue number anymore for licence renewals? If so, this is great news.

Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) Success Faces an Uncertain Future
bbi1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Easy, they should make an age limit and NOBODY 50 OR OVER should be able to apply for a DTV, only a Retirement visa only. No competing between these visas then if they implemented this simple thing. -
Jomtien beach to Central Pattaya is 10 baht on a Songtaew, unless things have changed in the past year???
-
There are no tuk tuks in Pattaya and 10 baht would be an absolute steal if they were charging this.
-
What are all the requirement to renew a 2 year motorbike licence at the Pattaya office? Is it a 2-step process where you have to turn up for getting a queue number, then about 30 days later your queue number will be for the 2nd appointment to actually get the licence? Is it still so long to get the actual appointment? Is there a link online to download the application form for renewal of a licence? Do you need to provide a photo of yourself too? If so, what size?

KO tragedy: British boxing hopeful’s final round in Pattaya hotel

The dickheads are the ones who take drugs and the ones who support drug users.
