  1. UnAmerican? Very American to maximize profits for shareholders just as God and McKinsey intended. I'm not complaining.
  2. Firstly, in all likelihood, this one was the offspring of several generations of captive bred birds. Secondly, you expect it to fly to Venezuela to "find its people"?
  3. The only guarantee for the solar system is that the sun will go through the following: a red giant then a white dwarf then a black dwarf. In other words, any guarantees are hit or miss at best even with the company in business.
  4. Not yet but hopefully that will be rectified in the not too distant future????
  5. It isn't a matter of current owners or not, it is more a matter of intended use. Take your EV to Tak>Umphang>Mae Sariang and do a bit of sightseeing and head to Khun Yuam and tell us how you got along. Take a run up in the provinces and don't hit the major cities and it is the same problem; charging stations are only available in the provincial capitals. Yes, they're fine for running around in the city and for going city to city along the main highways (as long as you don't mind lengthy "refueling" stops). Anything else and they're far too compromised in their (and the infrastucture's) present state. That's not to say that the OP will not get along fine with an EV; their usage seems to fit the profile well. As for cost effectiveness, that's open to debate upon considering depreciation. For the record, I'm not anti-EV. I'm just pro-convenience (for my usage).
  6. What a great report! Thank you. And what a characterful motorbike you've chosen. A true classic!
  7. Yeah rust is an issue and the newer ones seem to be even more troublesome than the old ones. Such a pity because, as you say, they look great.
  8. The difference being that those old Alfas are fun to drive and look good. But yes dang my 60's Alfas need a lot of care!
  9. Not directly relevant to the topic, but your quote and version of history are both a tad confused. Ho reportedly said what you are misquoting above after WW2 when he allowed French troops to reenter Vietnam with reference to the French and Chinese. When the Vietnam war started, though, he took plenty of Chinese aid, both in the form of military manpower as well as materiel and money. Not that it matters because, as you (and Ho!) implied, Chinese tentacles are hard to shake off.
  10. I do understand what you're saying. And yes, I am reasonably satisfied with their work. Actually they give you a warranty of one or two years when they fix your watch and that's what I was referring to. Omega Geneva is very responsive to complaints, by the way. Just such a hassle receiving it from overseas.
  11. So why did you not take it back to them? It is under warranty if repaired by the official Swatch service center in All Seasons Place. I've had several Omegas and Blancpains, both vintage and modern, serviced and repaired through them. There was an issue with one until I got in touch with Omega Geneva and it was promptly taken care of.
  12. You're confusing the Kohinoor with the Cullinan. Two different diamonds both part of the Crown Jewels.
  13. Well that's sure to help inflation and exports. I thought this guy was a businessman.
  14. They might or might not have interdicted it previously but there was huge bust in Myanmar a couple of years ago. I'd be surprised if it were all for Western markets or Australia.
  15. Hehe I do tend to wander off the main highways. The point is that the charging network is incomplete and charging stations are far from plentiful. Much as I'd like an EV, it is pretty much impossible for me given that state of affairs.
  16. Umm no. My usual haunts, there is one in Bueang Kan, two in Nakhon Phanom and none at all in Mae Hong Son. Certainly not numerous in the more remote parts of the country and none outside the main city in several provinces. That means you're stuck to traveling on the main highways.
  17. Good point. Just saw that email as well.
  18. Just because you're reading it today does not mean that it was published today. The article is from yesterday afternoon.
  19. Harmless fellow who isn't hurting anyone. Let him do his thing and let him be.
