Changing 18” wheels to 17”

Yes, that's the one with the Golf. There is a companion written piece, as well; my preferred format. -
Changing 18” wheels to 17”
malathione replied to sometimewoodworker's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
That is helpful, do you have places where that kind of research is published, the other requirement will be that the exact tyre models are available in Thailand. Yes, improvements do exist, certainly. As for tire testing data, https://www.tyrereviews.com/ is my usual go to. In fact, I remember now they did a test on exactly what you're planning to do a few years ago, a direct comparison between different rim diameters. -

Both the profile ratio (obviously) as well as the tire (tread pattern, construction, compound) are at least partly responsible for the NVH and comfort characteristics of a vehicle. Given that you will keep the stock suspension and, given that neither of these vehicles will have a stiff suspension, I'd suggest that any improvements would be marginal, at best. In my opinion, I'd look at tires first, do the research and get tires that are known for their low NVH and high comfort characteristics. BF Goodrich Advantages tend to rate close to the top for both NVH and comfort. -
Anne Frank Monument in Amsterdam Defaced with 'Gaza' Graffiti
malathione replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Truly despicable. Unfortunately, such actions are so widespread these days and no longer confined to perpetrators from the immigrant community. -
No idea which car, but given that size, I'm assuming it has some performance and you're not buying just for looks. I decide which exact tire I want and then look up who officially stocks them from the company's website. Not worth the risk getting them from some random shop. IMHO, of course.

Is it safe to wear a Rolex around Bangkok??
malathione replied to Mekmong MICK's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Which makes it neither unique nor particularly special. More special than your run of the mill Datejust, yes. And, yes, you can wear it around with no issues. -
AI to impact less than 4% of Thailand’s service sector jobs
malathione replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
That's because only 4% of those employed in the service sector in Thailand have any intelligence. The other AI, Artificial Idiocy, would replace the other 96%. -

Army Lags in Deploying Drones Along Thai-Myanmar Border

It can carry up to 4 missiles. No idea whether the Thai version is armed. Hermes H450. -
Having driven the Ranger Raptor and owning a C43, I can tell you the C43 is quicker everywhere and better handling. That said, it isn't a pickup truck and the Raptor is truly impressive for something that heavy and with the aerodynamic properties of a boat. I am sorely tempted as well.

de dollarization gaining speed

As a percentage of GDP, US debt is lower than the G7 average (an admittedly skewed metric due to Japan's debt). But yes it does need to slow down its ever increasing accumulation of debt being that as recently as 2001, its debt to GDP ratio was around 40% as opposed to 120+% now. -
Rolex Watch parcel from Dubai to Thailand.
malathione replied to Streetglide1802's topic in General Topics
You're three years too late for your comment to be of any use to the OP... And no it isn't tricky if you follow the process and have the documentation. -
English speaking doctor in That Phanom or Nakhon Phanom
malathione replied to Robbie2618's topic in Health and Medicine
Wrong province, Sheryl. He is asking about Nakhon Phanom not Pathom. OP, as @Ombra said, some of the doctors at the main hospital in Nakhon Phanom have a smattering of English as do some at the Mukdahan International Hospital. -

Inconsistent bounce and movement. Little to do with the outfield. The pitches are underprepared and freshly laid. -
Switching from AA World to AOC or other broker
malathione replied to david_je's topic in Insurance in Thailand
I'm switching to Pacific Prime simply because a close friend uses them and he has had nothing but praise for them. I, too, have found them easy to deal with thus far. Passport Card have been surprisingly good, both with pre-scheduled surgeries as well as with claims for a couple of emergency room visits. That said, they've raised the premium quite randomly and substantially these last three years claiming inflation. -
Switching from AA World to AOC or other broker
malathione replied to david_je's topic in Insurance in Thailand
I'm in the process of doing the same, switching to another broker though not AOC, and I will complete the process once I get back to Thailand. The reason for the switch is that I'm not entirely comfortable dealing with the AA office in India to have my questions answered. I've not needed the agent's help with claims so I have no opinion of that. Passport Card/Allianz has been pretty easy to deal with directly. -
The better ones all have their own workshops. I'd go with Tailor on Ten for slacks and shirts but not for the blazer. I don't like the way they execute the shoulders. Be careful with the lower priced places as the fabric they sell you might not be authentic. Duly does good blazers with well executed shoulders. Prices are dependent, of course, on the fabric you choose.
