Thailand now has a total of 3,017 COVID-19 cases

    well, that's not quire right:

    1. There are only REPORTED cases. What about those, they never been detected?

    2. There are only around 10.000 tests per week. (up to 500.00 in Eu....not Uk of course).

the more you test the more cases you'll find.

So could there be a reason for less tests in Thailand ????

As per usual with these government-concocted schemes.

So how will they distinguish between visiting tourists and foreign residents? Will I still have to automatically pay that embedded fee although I, a resident of some 30 years, hold a comprehensive first-class health insurance policy?

I travel very frequently for business (well, I used to before Covid). Does that mean I'll have to shoulder that compulsory fee each and every time I purchase a ticket, i.e. 12 - 15 times a year?

Just in case you would be forced to pay 300 Baht every time....that's around 4000 Baht with your travel frequency......I'm very sure you are not broke, am I right????

In almost any eastern Europe country, friend of me put his mother some place in Hungary,1700 Euro including doctor visits and 24 hours nurse service

Hmmh. I made a trip last summer through Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Slovakia.

Nice people, good environment, good food, good beer (Pilsner) ????

These countries are really an option. BTW..... they are Europeans... ????

That sounds as a comfortable place, I would like to take my last days there, but I can not pay the bill.

Normally elderly homes in Europe do not have this level I agree, but they do only cost around 20 percent of 3000 euro a month, so I think it is difficult to compare normally elderly homes in europe with this very nice swiss runned place in Thailand.

    Well, that's it.

I saw  a nice nursing home advertised at Hamburg harbour overlooking in and outgoing ships.

However, everything got it's price. From 2800 Euro on. Half board.

    So not for everybody.

But this Chiangmai home is beautiful. I visited this place once and was impressed by this welcoming spirit.

I can hardly believe this story, maybe a very few elderly persons from the west.

In most europe countries there is free elderly care, close to family and relatives. I can not see the reason to send an elderly person alone to the other side of the planet, if you have just a piece of a heart.

In Thailand generally the education level is very low, expect you are able to pay a lot of money. Show me a elderly home in Thailand where most of the staff have more than 14 years of school/education as normal in europe.

What about the daily care, the thai persons normally only speaks thai ?

I can not see that thailand can do it better or cheaper, than the elderly homes in europe.

Correct me if I am wrong.

    Indeed you are totally wrong.

Eg there is a nursing home run by Swiss people. Houses with terrace and pool. 4 care takers for every patient/24 hrs. Trained staff of course, German Doc.

However not cheap, around 3000 Euro/month.

    Where to get in Europe?

Merkel was always someone to wait and do nothing. This happened also with COVID19 until there was no other way that to do something. Then she looked at the pols and found the leader with the strongest restrictions is loved mostly. So she ordered a nearly toal lock-down. Now that people are impatient and want their freedom she opens almost everything. The CORVID19 situation at total lock-down and opening is almost the same. There is no wise management in this crisis keeping all aspects in mind and searching for balanced ways. Additionally there was a poor performance in organizing needed protection products. How can you ask people to ware facemask if there are not any? Now I am watching what happens. According to her the provinces with more than 50 cases per 100,000 must go back to strong restrictions, neighbour provinces not. That is going to be interesting.

People fighting for their "freedom" are called "Covidiots".

    Good description, isn't it?
